This review is a bit overdue, but I'm very grateful to Roy for helping my family out in a plumbing emergency. (A bathtub's worth of nasty came up the basement toilet, and we couldn't use our upstairs bathroom either--or, later, run water anywhere in the house.) Excellent service, very very reasonable cost, excellent advice (which I didn't take fully the first time, to my later regret--but Roy was back to save the day when I turned out to need him again!). He even drove me to the bank! I'll spare you the details--it's kind of a long story, actually--but what you need to know is that he did what needed to be done, very well, and charged less than he probably should have. Thanks so much, Roy!

Ambia Windows and Doors were excellent. Tony gave me a quote on a new patio door (with installation) substantially lower than the other companies I talked to. The only catch was that the quote for a key lock for the door was a lot higher than any other company's--but when I mentioned this to him, he talked with their source and came back with a lower quote on the lock as well. The door we needed was too big to be in stock (all the companies I called told me the same thing), but after I ordered, Ambia had the door ready a bit sooner than other companies I'd talked to said they'd be able to do it. The installers did an excellent job, as far as I can tell. The deck outside the patio door, it turns out, is built up a little above the level of the door, so to remove the old door and install the new one they had to pry up a board from our deck. But once they finished their work, they put the deck back together perfectly. They cleaned up after themselves very well. (I found a couple of loose screws in my driveway after they left, but no big deal.) Tony obviously has "customer care" on his mind: always very friendly on the 'phone, and accommodating; and he called back the day after the job to make sure everything was fine. It was! We're very happy with the work Ambia did--the door and the installation. Thanks, guys!

I called another company well-reviewed on HomeStars about my dryer, which had stopped working. They gave me good-sounding, honest advice: they'd charge $81 for a diagnostic visit, and parts and labour if they could fix it--so I might be better off buying a new machine. I decided to call one more place for a second opinion before springing for a $?00. new machine, and tried Delroy. He guessed correctly from my description on the 'phone what the problem was, and told me that (if he was right) he could fix it with a $25 part plus labour. The total was less than the first place had quoted for the diagnostic visit alone. He added that the old machines are better than the new ones anyway: built sturdier, and they don't have fancy electronic parts that are expensive to replace. Thanks, Delroy!
