After a couple of loads of laundry on Easter Sunday I went down to my basement to find a big pool of skinky water around my main drain. The city cleared the blockage temporarily but I knew the issue still needed to be dealt with properly. After scoring Homestars I finally called Mayday the following Sunday, assuming I’d leave a message and set up an appointment for the following week. Roy offered to come immediately (at no extra cost) and told me over the phone what my issue likely was, what he'd do to fix it and what it would cost me (very reasonable in my opinion). About an hour later Roy was at my home. He found an extensive root blockage and cleared it completely. What a joy he was to deal with, super friendly and thorough, but he also took the time to make sure the job was done properly. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again and will recommend him to any friends who find themselves in similar situations.

I am absolutely convinced that using any other company than Mayday Drain Services is just a compromise and you are losing money; It is for the second time when I had the chance to use their services and DEFINITELY my expectations were totally fulfilled and I was 100% satisfied; I had in my house a VERY PROFESSIONAL and VERY HONEST person. Roy is a technician who really knows his job, he displays respect for his customers, and he is doing a PERFECT JOB! IF I will ever need similar assistance, I will use his services ONLY. I am so confident that anybody who really needs a honest and professional person shall ask him for assistance. THANK YOU ROY! Very punctual, with an eye for details, working very clean and very fast, Roy solved a problem for which were before in our house at least 5-6 roto rooters who did each and every time a very sloppy job. Roy provided a very accurate diagnostic and he verified very thoroughly afterward the cleaning that he performed. I am definitely strongly recommending him as being the BEST in his profession in GTA area.

I am renovating my basement and wanted to check my drain before I laid down carpet and tile over the bare concrete. Had Roy come on a Saturday to inspect my drain. He called the day prior to confirm the appointment and showed up on time. He found some roots and provided me with an inexpensive solution and called a gentlemen he works with who gave him a quote for the work on the spot. Very satisfied with Roy. Stand up guy who does good work and is honest.

Roy provided the best service from any trades person we have seen. On short notice, he was on time and very knowledgeable. He showed us exactly what the problem was and fixed it (Unlike some other big-name plumbing companies we've used). He even recommended preventative maintenance we could perform ourselves. Honest tradesman. Highly recommended and will definitely call him again if needed.

Roy is the most honest tradesperson I have encountered in my life, and phenomenal at customer service too. I doubt I'll ever have as pleasant an experience with any other contracting professional again. Everything other reviews state about Roy are accurate. He is honest, doesn't upsell you on unrequired services and will get the job done quickly, efficiently and at a great price. He answered all my questions through out the service with patience and care, and even told me not to waste my money when I worried about certain things like a recurrence of my draining problems. (I have calcite deposits along the sewer drain, and could use a power flush service, but he said it is unlikely to recur, so save my money. If it does recur, he'll recommend someone. Now a word of caution for all HomeStars users. I have been using the site for a few years now, and must advise you to not rely on just the order of contractors in the list when you do a search. There are many crooks out there, including some that are listend on HomeStars, and I have been suckered by a few. I've learnt that HomeStars is a great resource, but one needs to seriously read all the reviews and do proper research on it when choosing a contractor. The best ones will be the ones with impeccable ratings, but also a large number of them. For companies that have anything less than a 10 average, read their negative reviews carefully and quiz them on it. Í found Roy by his impeccable 10/10 rating, but then also reading all his reviews. And I've been suckered before by another plumbing company that is prominent on HomeStars, but always overcharges their customers based on this ridiculous book of standard prices that rip you off. Enough about that though. The morale of this story; if you're anywhere in the GTA and ever have a drain problem, go with Roy and Mayday. You can't go wrong.

As a trade person myself, I look to hire honest, trustworthy and hard-working folks to do work at my home. The plumber I usually work with didn't have the tools necessary to clear the 4" drain. Roy was on time, courteous and well prepared to assess and do the necessary work to clear the blockage of our drain and the roots that were causing this issue. He showed me with his camera where the issues were and made quick work of it. He also gave us some ideas around ongoing maintenance. Thanks for your help Roy! I'd quickly recommend Mayday to friends or clients that are having drain issues.

I called a number of plumbing services today (Sunday Dec 30th, 2012), with my main sewage entirely blocked. I picked Mayday over the others on homestars, for one simple reason: I called a few places, and asked for their time/materials/truck charges, so I could estimate a relative cost. Nobody gave me their hourly rates. Most wanted to send somebody out for a $50-60 cost, provide an estimate, and waive the estimate fee if I picked them. Roy was the only person I phoned today (of a half dozen), who picked up the phone, did not sound intimidated, or worried when I asked flat out for a price, and gave me a firm number. That was what sold me, there was no guess work involved, and I associate this with a contractors experience level (frankly, his price was par/lower then most, certainly a consideration). Mayday arrived at the scheduled time (same day), got to work promptly and successfully, then took the time to show me what some of my future repair plans would entail, helping educate me with regards to what I could handle myself, and what I might not. Overall, I'm just thrilled that with the gamble of picking a plumber, I lucked out today. Notably, I gave this a 9/10 review, not because I'm 1/10th dissatisfied, but because I want this review actually read, not white-washed out with the rest of the 10/10 reviews that plaster the site in general.

I called Roy after reading these reviews on Homestar. I wanted a second opinion on being told I need a portion of my drain replaced for thousands of dollars.A drain company had previously repaired 2 sections of my drain because of tree roots for thousands of dollars and had to come back because of water leakage. I was now told that there was another crack in the drain - which I didn't hear about the first time they put the camera down. The quote was another couple of thousand dollars. Roy came and put the camera down and their was no crack to be seen. Roy was absolutley great. He is the most honest and competent person and I will call him and only him for any further drain problems I have. He saved me thousands of dollars.. I will definitely recommend Roy to all my friends.

After reading several reviews on HomeStars, it was a no-brain decision to call Mayday. I called early in the morning and spoke to Roy just as he was leaving to go to his first job of the day. I thought I may had to wait until the next day but he scheduled me in after the next job. Upon arrival Roy asked me a couple of short questions regarding the problem before proceeding with the job at hand. After several attempts diagnosing the blockage problems with the traps in the basement, it wasn't looking very good.However, Roy remember seeing possibly another trap outside the house. It was fairly cold outside yet Roy proceeded with his diagnosis and was correct with his assumption. He then quickly found the problem and easily fixed it. His vast knowledge and professionalism made our ordeal actually an enjoyable experience. He even provided advice whereas we can maintain our drainage in the future. Mayday's service is definitely worth every cent. Bravo Roy!

Mayday has come out to our house on several occasions now, usually within a few hours of our call. Roy completes the work efficiently and although he always seems to run into an unforeseen issue at our house, he sticks it out and gets the job done right. We would recommend Mayday to anyone.
