Last fall, it became clear that the shingles on our house needed to be replaced. After having the roof of a vacation home redone with steel roofing, that seemed like the most reasonable, long-term solution. Several quotes were solicited, and Green Sky, with Eric were among the lower quotes. After a long discussion with Eric, the decision was made to also look at rubber roofing as a possibility. In pursuing the matter, I phoned my home insurance agent, and was told that the annual insurance premium would lower by about $100 with steel; the premium would lower by about $300 with recycled rubber. I looked at this difference as an endorsement for rubber roofing by the insurance business. When Eric dropped off samples, it became apparent that rubber was more resistant to hail and wind damage than steel. Added to that fact was that installation required full coverage of a polymer underlay over the entire roof before the rubber shingles were applied and the material was guaranteed for 50 years with a possible life of a century, rather than the 15 to 20 of asphalt shingles. We settled on Green Sky as the installer because their pricing was the lowest of all the quotes, and over the course of our discussions, I became very confident that Eric and his company would provide expert installation. On the first day of removal of the old asphalt shingles, a mistake was made. The installers mistakenly removed shingles that were only a couple of years old on a smaller upper storey. Eric and I had discussed leaving that particular area for several years, but with the intention of using the same rubber for that later installation. Unfortunately, that information was not communicated to the installation crew, and they removed the upper level shingles as well. Eric agreed that it was Green Sky’s mistake, and offered to replace the asphalt shingles with asphalt shingles of the same quality, and just charge for the installation. After discussion with he rubber roofing supplier’s sales people, Eric said that they could alternatively, use the same rubber roofing as the main roof, and he would charge the materials at their wholesale value, as well as a discounted installation charge. I agreed, and the rest of the installation proceeded without a problem. Eric also agreed to remove a steel chimney for an unused fireplace, and did not charge us. I am very pleased with the new rubber shingled roof and confident of its quality. The installation crew cleaned up after installation and left an immaculate yard! I would recommend Green Sky Roofing without reservation. You could not ask for a better company than Green Sky, for home maintenance and roof installation. Give Eric a call!

Jeremy and his assistant showed up on the appointed day. My wife, who is a very picky gardener, went out and pointed out what she thought needed to be done to the various trees and bushes in our yard, then left for her appointments for the day. But before she left, she expressed her confidence in Jeremy, said " he knows what he is doing". They worked for several hours, pruning several bushes, and with the biggest job, our elm tree, climbing up into it, clearing the interior and raising the canopy. All in all, it was a superb job of pruning and great cleanup afterwards! My wife was very pleased with all the pruning, and particularly commented on the manner of pruning of our lilacs and cherry tree. Thank you, Jeremy! You are now our go-to tree person, extraordinaire!

Thank you for the excellent review, Art! Pruning Elm trees is best done in the winter months, while the tree is dormant to minimize the risk of spreading Dutch Elm disease. We look forward to taking care of your tees, foe many years to come.

Louis arrived exactly within the time frame that was stated in the email I received the day before my appointment. One of the tumbler vanes inside the dryer drum had loosened, and was rattling around, and catching clothing. Louis went out to his van to get a screwdriver, had the cover off in a minute, and the vane tightened down in less than five minutes! He is a rarity of politeness, efficiency and expertise! He charged me the minimum for a service call - well worth it, since reportedly, LG techs are the only ones authorized to service their appliances, and charge an arm and a leg to do so. Many thanks, Louis and Terry!

When my furnace stopped functioning, late one winter night (-27C) I thought I would call the man who installed the furnace in the morning, since I turn down the heating at night, anyway. He said he would come by, and have a look. In the meantime, I cleaned the flame sensor, to no avail. When he arrived, and examined the furnace, he diagnosed, and replaced a couple of parts, including the flame sensor, with no success. Looking at the printed circuit board (on a high efficiency furnace), he said he had no experience with that part of a furnace, and that I should call someone else (much more involved, but to keep it short). I called several companies (the obvious ones, all too busy, some till next week) then went on to Homestars, and discovered Calgary Heating Services. After reading reviews, I called, and they sent someone out in a couple of hours. Mohsin looked at the furnace, and went through a series of diagnostic steps, and determined that the blower motor was not functioning, nor responding; it had died. As it was late on a Friday afternoon, and the manufacturers parts store was an hour away, he said Monday morning was the earliest he could return, unless I wanted to pay a fee to the parts store of $150 to have someone open it on a weekend. Since I declined the offer, and was already using some space heaters, he brought in a few more to help me over the weekend. He arrived promptly Monday morning, with a new DC 1 hp replacement motor, tested it before installing, and had it up and running within the hour. That was the best money I have spent in a long time. A lifesaver!!! Highly, highly recommend this company for furnace repair – experienced, well-trained, professional, polite, and very accommodating technicians.

Within 15 minutes of phoning Household Refrigeration and leaving a message, Tiernan called back and asked some questions about the nature of the problem, the make and model of the refrigerator, and said he would call back in 10 minutes. Calling back, he said he could repair the fridge, and that he would be over after he finished another job. He arrived before noon, and got busy immediately disassembling the lower part of the fridge in order to defrost the ice build-up. Tiernan outlined that there could be several problems possible, the heater cable, the heater sensor, or the controller circuit board. He determined that the cable and sensor were fine, and did not need to be replaced. He answered all my questions politely and carefully. He installed a new circuit board, and 24 hours later, the refrigerator is working perfectly; and in fact, whatever Tiernan did, he also eliminated some irritating noises that used to occur during the start of a cycle - no more bumps, rattles and loud hums. Thank you Tiernan, you are a master repair-person, and a fine gentleman.

Kevin and Chris arrived ½ hour before the appointment time, and began to set-up for the service. In the past, duct cleaners would simply run a small vacuum hose from their truck (with those giant fingers protruding from the top) and suck dust from the various vents in the house – over and done in less than an hour. Not Advanpro - Kevin cut a hole in the hot air duct just above the furnace, attached a gigantic eight inch diameter vacuum hose from the back of their cube van, then proceeded to such dirt back into the furnace, and out to their truck. Meanwhile, Chris went around the house, removing grills, and blowing out the ducts with compressed air. The job took almost two hours. They were thorough, careful, and cleaned our furnace ducts like no one had ever done in the past. Thank you advanpro - we will never call anyone else for duct cleaning services!!! Art N. in Calgary
