Wesley, can also advise you on any particular concerns that you might have, and one of my major concerns is that newer-built houses use long-span joists, from an engineering standpoint it is ok, but I dont like it when Im sitting on the main floor and someone walks you can feel the floor vibrating. So I was proposing a beam across the wide area in the basement but without making the ceiling ugly. He came up with a solution that could reduce the vibration significantly and simultaneously form part of the bulkhead. The whole project was smooth for us, from designing, getting the permits, setting up, bringing materials and supplies, inspections, painting and finishing, and even up to touch-ups.
