Appliance Resurrection

We had one of those old work horse, top loading washers and we loved it. Suddenly it started making a metallic screeching sound and called Appliance Resurrection. Karl texted when he could stop by, he texted when he was on his way (amazing) and really listened to what happened. He brought his own indoor shoes and automatically changed into them-he even brought a telescoping stool to get at eye level with the unit, to better see and hear the noise.

He came up with a Hail Mary idea of trying some grease that would withstand high temperatures and sourced that himself & brought that back for a try. Didnt work, then he turned the unit on and offboom it was the brake that was dying and only showed its colours when he tried that. But

Because Karl listened, diagnosed a possible solution, sourced and tried that, tried to find the old parts and even he couldnt get them-we were confident we had to get a new unit.

Because weve never bought a new condo type unit before, we even hired Karl to come back out and reassure us that the dryer wasnt relying on the weight of the washer to stand (thankfully it wasnt-but in the US sometimes they do) and he offered some advice on which new brands and sizes would work.

Having a broken large appliance is a pain-its great to now have Karl to call on to have his reliable expertise to help us through it! Thanks Karl!
