Second floor addition

The project started out pretty good but went very slow in the summer with the framer going on vacation. The roof was left open for over 6 weeks which flooded our newly renovated basement. It took Gerry 3 months to contact his insurance company and as a result we had mold behind the drywall. This is a huge mess and Gerry walked away from it all leaving us in a huge bind. There were a lot of other deficiencies so I would recommend using another company for renovations.

Approximate cost of services:
$300.00

Company Response

Hi Darcie and Donna. We are so disappointed that you now feel the need to slander us. Let's start at the beginning

1. You were 4 weeks behind in moving out. You told us you would have all furniture removed June 1. You finally did move out middle of July. 6 weeks behind before we began. Multiple neighbours told us at this point that we were in for a rough road doing work for you and should run. We thought it was your normal neighbourhood gossip. This was our first mistake

2. Once framing was completed in 2 weeks. You then decided to completely change the entire plan that you signed off on in February. The changes were so extensive that we actually had reapply for a new development permit and also a new building permit.

3. We did not contact insurance because there was nothing to file under insurance. You had preexisting mold (proven and documented) and are claiming it was from us.

4. After all of this we still did not walk away because in no way did we ever want to leave you in a position of your renovation being half completed. The reason we "walked away" is because your cheque came back NSF and you would /could not issue a new one. Instead the following weekend you changed the locks on us and used all our trades materials and tools. If you would have just communicated to us that you lost your jobs we could have helped you in your unfortunate circumstance and maybe we could have come to a better resolution.

Our only fault in this whole ordeal is that we entered into a contracted job with what we believed to be good people.
