First of all I really want to meet those people who write good for this builder as I know so many people who are stuck with the houses and lot of things are still pending. I purchased this house in March 2012 and still my driveway, rough grading, praging, outside stairs and paint is not completed, and leave the small things that they never come to fix up. Their salesman are too good to pull the money from your pocket and after that the nightmere starts. They even didn't give the credit for property taxes and even worst some trademan put the lien of my property as they didn't pay to him. I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND ANY ONE TO THIS BUILDER.

We purchased a duplex in April which was already framed, was told we could expect the house FORSURE in July. Then that got pushed to August Now in December still no house... We have had nothing but problems with Greenboro and the people that work for them. we have had to deal with four different people as we just keep getting passed to someone else. And getting someone to answer a phone in there office is way to much to ask for. IT doesnt happen! Our house sat with out a roof for so long that there was mold throughout when we went to look at it one day. They finally got someone into take care of it after me calling them everyday. A week ago I was promised by the lady who is now in charge of out project that we would be in the house December 21/12 I booked the appointments and everything with her. She then asked that we sign a waiver that we didnt require the 35day noticed that they are required to give us. When I asked that I get something in writting stating that if they go past that day they would cover our living costs, as this is what happens if they go past there 35day notice date. They WOULDNT!!! So now we are suppose to be getting our house January 21 not sure how it got pushed back a month in 1 week. I talked to site superintendant this week who stated that the house wouldnt be dont at the end of Dec...so not really sure why they arent letting us move in till Jan 21/12. There is poor communication throughout the whole company. I have tried to reason with everyone right up to the CEO....I WOULD NOT RECOMMED THIS BUILDER TO ANYONE!!!

Family members bought houses from Greenboro homes and the experiences has been an absolute nightmare. Here is a list of the issues: 1. Driveway has not been poured and grading has not done as Greenboro went into credit protection, although the house has been paid for in full they are not working with the home owners. They do not provide information (i.e. we heard through the media that they went into credit protection) about when or if the drive way and grading will be done. The driveway is extremely slippery and an extreme health hazard has one can easily break a leg on the ice. The driveway is in such a way (i.e. gravel and rubbish) that you cannot really clean it. 2. The new master bath id leaking. They had to cut a hole in the ceiling above the kitchen to fix the leak and it has been so for 6 weeks and counting. Again no information coming from Greenboro. 3. The “Holmes on Homes” package was never delivered to one (i.e. was suppose to contain footage and documentation certifying that the house adheres to Holmes on Homes standards. 4. The deck is missing glass panels, have not heard a thing about that. 5. A second family member also bought a greenboro house as well as the “Holmes on Homes” package and what do you know, there is no blue wood in sight and Greenboro’s solution is to spray paint the wood blue/pink after the fact. I wonder how the “Holmes on Homes” team is going to certify this as a “Holmes on Homes” house. By the way, you pay about $30,000 extra for the blue wood, blue sheeting etc.. So, long story short; buyer BEWARE! I would stay away from Greenboro. Anyone can make mistakes, but to keep silent and try to swipe mistakes under the rug is not on!

We bought in June of 2011, not a bad experience at all, obviously theres going to be a few kinks in a never lived in house but all in all very satisfied! The floor plan is very nice! Had an electrical problem, from the time I phoned to report it to the time it was fixed was about 3 hours. For us they have done the warranty walk throughs and done whats asked!

After reading some of the reviews for this builder I felt compelled to respond on my experience. Greenboro Homes provided everything they said they would right from the sales person all the way though to moving in and servicing my home. I did have a couple of items to be fixed like doors that didnt close in the spring but what new home doesnt. Just like buying a car to take in for maintenance. They were always professional and pleasant to deal with no matter the problems we encourtered. The warranty girls were great to deal with and the people that came to my house were always pleasant. The home is bright open and spacious. Lots of storage. The basement is set out just right to develop in our future for our growing family. The neighborhood is great and close to many stores, walking areas and schools. I wouldnt trade my back yard for anything. The kids get to play and enjoy themselves in a great space. Thank you to everyone at Greenboro Homes who made my buying experience what it was for my families first home. You truely went above and beyond for us. I would recommend anyone to buy and build with Greenboro Homes. They do truely care how you feel.

We're so happy we purchased our new home from Greenboro Homes. We were quickly running out of space in our tiny duplex and our kids needed more room to play. After touring multiple areas in the southside and looking at many showhomes from different builders, we decided that Greenboro provided the best value for our price range. In February, we sat down with our salesperson to write the contract. Our salesperson walked us through the entire building process from adding options and upgrades while keeping within our budget to providing us updates as construction progressed. In July, we finally moved into our new home. We couldn't be more pleased with the fit and finish of our house. We did a pre-occupancy walkthrough in the morning a few days prior to possession and the paint touch-ups identified were already completed that afternoon. Every single deficiency was cleared up before we moved in, except for a back-ordered light. We had such a great experience buying our home from Greenboro...we've already recommended them to a few of our friends :)

Never,Never buy from Greenboro Homes. The condo where I bought is still feeling the effects of the extremely poor workmanship of the condo built 5 years ago. The builder walked away from the project without even finishing the siding on the buildings and we have had to pay for all repairs ourselves. We are now looking at hundreds of thousands to redo work that was was not completed or incorrectly completed on the buildings. Insulation, siding, plumbing concrete problems all over the place. They obviously do not care about anything but selling and don't have any pride in the product they produce. I can't believe a builder can be so ruthless and uncaring.

We had an absolutely horrible experience with Greenboro homes. From the minute we signed the contract we have had NOTHING but problems. We were given possession dates over and over and over- each one would come and go, with no keys to our home. Our house sat half framed for over a month with no one working on it- we were given every excuse in the book as to why- They truly don't care about you at all they just see you as $$ in their pockets. The staff at the show home kept quitting or getting fired so no one really got to know us and we would have to repeat our issues over and over again. Very frustrating. We also had to intervene on several occasions to prevent the trades people from completing work that was NOT supposed to be done- saving the company thousands in re work. Our finished product was shoddy at best- our hardwood was slapped down in 4 hours and the site superintendent bragged about how fast they did it after- well you can sure tell! Our floor boards are all separating and warping- We call to make appointments over and over because we are told that no one is aware of our problem- its like talking to a wall. People make appointments and then don't show up- we are convinced that they are just waiting for the year to be over so that they don't actually have to fix anything. Our dishwasher leaked through our hardwood and into the basement due to not being installed properly, we had no hot water for a week because they installed two cold pipes instead of a hot and a cold. AWFUL!!

Greenboro Homes a division of Unity Builders. What can I say other than completely dissatisfied. The only good part of the process was the sales portion. After that they completely fall apart. If you need to buy a house based on price and you are will to supervise every step of the process, you might get the house built correctly and to code. The house was built. The site superintendant was never near the project and sub trades were never supervised. I had to intervene on multiple occasions to ensure the house was being built to the order. There were so many mistakes. I saved the company thousands of dollars in possible rework. This of coarse was not appreciated by the company. As the house was being built, they always struggled to reach minimum code. They hid what they could until it was found. All work was sloppy from frameing to finishing. I had a list of 65 difficiencies. After 3 years we are still fighting to get these completed. Lets talk about cold zones and drafts. These he bonus room is a refridgerator. the front entrance the door might as well be wide open. The roof was not insulated or vented properly. The condensation was horrible. Water was rumming inside and outside down the walls. The cieling is still stained orange from the water. Roof leaks. Valleys were not done at all. The roof was repaired 4 times. I finally had it fixed at my own expense. Most thing were. The chimeny pipe was not insulated and niether was the chimeny box. They were constantly dripping due to condensation. Poor concrete. The top layer of the garage floor has peeled of. It has a reverse slope into the house and floods all the way to the back door every time it rains. Wall cracks. Some settelling would be acceptable. The same wall cracks and buckles twice a year. I had it fixed every time. I even left a 1/2" expansion/compression gap to allow for further settelling, it still cracks. The problem is, according the Greenboro Homes, all of this is acceptable. They will never allow you to talk the the company president. They are rude at the warranty office. I have hundreds of pages of correspondense. Most of which gets ignored. I have found that it is a company standard supported by the president to operate in this manner. They will save every nickle they can. Your house is built by the lowest possible bidder. It is standard to use the cheapest possible matterials and also standard to hide short commings. The house is built to the most minimal of standards. On the block that I live on there is not one single Greenboro Home owner that is happy. If you talk to sub trades they recognize that Greenboro has the lowest standards and express thier consern for you as an owner. Some of the sub trades laugh when you mention Greenboro Homes, but they will give you thier card for when you are ready to have the problem fixed on your own. Once they sale is done and they have your money. Good Luck

What could this company do to improve their services?
They need to realise what customer service is. They need to be accountable for their mistakes. Thet should also strive to be maybe above minimum code and do what actually makes sense for Canada. I think they should quit building homes completely. If they are not going to build properly. You soon won't have any customers.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Research your builder. Look at homes they are currently building. Interview people who own homes built by them on the street and ask about service. If they don't let you in the house durring the build, get a new builder. They are not reputable.
