We hired Joe to build our dream addtion which turned out to be a nightmare. 3-6mpnth project is still not completed by this builder. We had to pass electrical and building inspections on our own. He just walked away - bounced a lot of cheques to the trades along the way. The plubmber never hooked up the drains, Joe's response "I won't pay him" but never addressed the problem. We had already paid Joe and now had to hire someone else to finish the plumbing. Joe hired unlicensed hvac crew that messed up the furnace instillation, attached a big plastic flex pipe on the outside our newly stuccoed house for gas intake and completely forgot the thermostat. The flooring company was piad with a NSF cheque and they called for 3months-almost daily until I disconected my number. The electricain was paid with NSF cheque as well and showed up at our home, with his crew, when we were not home scarring our kids - Joe's response was to call the cops if he shows up again! The cement company was also paid with a NSF cheque and left a nasty letter posted on our door. The best was the stairs and railing supplier paid with NSF cheque and placed a lien on our home after Joe refused to take their calls. They also served us with a claim. We did not find out about the lien until we were in process of moving our mortgage to a different institution and could not proceed. My husband called Joe and was told he did not have his files and would called back. 2 weeks later I emailed him and he called back to say he would reach his lawyer after new year and would resolve the situation. I have yet to hear from Joe, almost a month later. We had to hire a lawyer to remove the lien on our home. Overall, he is a fast talker who hires sub-trades to do all the jobes and does not even supervise them. Some of the trades did an excellent work and some did a very bad job that home owner is left to fix. Joe couldn't careless about his client(s). He is just full of stories and excuses. Don't believe anything he says - just run. I will tell everyone I know about my experience with Joe and Metrohomes. He is also a licensed realtor with 2nd largest company on York Mills and he is at the homeshows throuout Toronto all the time so whatch out for this crook. I wish I had seen the two reviews posted before we hired him. He also has many business addresses as well. I know where he lives. Met his wife and kids, work with his cousin and my neighbours are his family friends. I will remember this guy for a long time. I also met his father who seems to be a decent person and his mother is supposedly ill. Feel sorry for his family. I am a firm believer in bad people getting their just dessert eventually.....

We hired Metrohomes to manage the project. We approached the project well prepared with very detailed designs and funding in place. What contractually should have been a 5 month project has turned into a nightmare. It has now been 13 months and the project is still not complete. I have not seen anyone from Metrohomes since the end of December when we moved in to our unfinished home (9 month marker). What I have seen is a series of subcontractors who had not been paid and were approaching me for payment. I had already paid Metrohomes for their services who had not paid the subcontractors. I'm left with a home that was rushed, corners cut and incomplete. I can't even think of Metrohomes these days without becoming furious about my experiences with them.
