Never, I repeat, never pay the money up front. A lesson learned. Another victim of the Todd (TDC) Contracting company. Took our $7000 and abandoned the job before it was finished. He didn't pay several of the subs. Tried to deflect responsibility. BEWARE, this guy showed up maybe once or twice a week, and some of his guys do scary work. What was promised to be 5 days, turned into a month, but still not finished. Not to mention the damage done to our basement. Wouldn't recommend him to build a dog house.

Approximate cost of services:
$8,000.00

Company Response

You really have twisted the story 100%. I am only going to respond this one time and try to make it short. We have done several jobs for you over the years including two other complete washrooms and your basement and all went perfect. This time you and Cathy were a complete different couple to deal with. I am aware of alot of personal issues going on between you and your wife which are your business. Unfortunately, your wife had approved alot of additional plumbing and changes to be done while you were away for work, and apparently did not discuss with you this info. As for the plumbing back up issue in the basement washroom, you had your chosen plumber come in and scope the drains. He found a scrubby sponge pad in your drain approx 15' into the drain and also that you have some major issues with your existing drains below the basement floor. You also paid him for his services as this was absolutely no issue of mine due to the reno we were doing. We just happened to be there while this occurred is all. You were absolutely completely ignorant to all workers and sub trades on site throughout the reno. You were constantly talking smack of all workers, trades and myself, behind their's and my backs. We asked you to please stop this and calling them "morons". They are well known trades people and very good at what they do. Again, I believe you have alot of personal issues going on right now in your two lives and need to address them. As for the deposit of $7000 (in two payments), I did receive. You fail to mention that there is still approximately $4000 outstanding and all that is really left is a $700 piece of tempered glass left to install, which was ordered already, and have informed the glass guy to deal with you directly for installation and payment. I told you to keep the balance and pay for the glass and additional plumbing that your wife had approved, and feel fit to do whatever you wish with the balance, as my workers and trades no longer wanted to go to your project due to the constant bashing and negativity from you and your wife. We also did additional work including storage cubby closets, as per Cathy, and other small changes. There was an additional $1400 for hidden and faulty existing plumbing in your walls. I could go on for lots longer but will leave it here at this point. Also, I welcome any customers or possible customers to call me directly to get the true story. It really is too bad that it has come to this as we had a professional relationship for several years until now. We simply could not go on with your project any further due to your personal issues. Best for all parties involved at this time. All the best Tim and Cathy.
