First of all I am a huge fan of the Homestars site and so when we made a rather hasty decision to consider reupholstering 2 Queen Anne chairs and 2 loveseats, I did my research and quickly found TJ Fine Upholstering and after reading all the reviews I knew I had to look no further. I contacted Milton, emailed pictures of the furniture, and got a quote over the phone. Then I visited his shop for fabrics and he referred me onto another source. Once the selection of fabric was done, he picked up the furniture, confirmed the reasonable price and agreed to a time frame. He was excellent in all aspects of the process, from suggestions to updating the look of the loveseats, to confirming the suitability of the chosen fabrics, to followup calls for job completion and pick-up and delivery. We are very pleased with the workmanship, particularly the geometrically patterned fabric on the chairs which matched beautifully. So well done Milton!

I happened upon this company through a search of Homestars, as I was looking for a place close to home. I had already visited one of the very large fabric companies and hadn't come up with anything suitable in the colour shades I was looking for. So I visited this place[ by the way their location has changed] and the staff person who assisted me [Sasha S.] was lovely, respectful of my price point,and very helpful to suggest suitable matches for sofa and chair. I did not decide that day, and again there was no pressure to buy, only helpful suggestions. I did return several days later and place the order, only after another review of my choices, with her patience and further information of the fabrics and their suitability. They also gave me a quotation and suggestions for drapes, at my asking, although I did not choose them in the end. They were very cooperative too as the one fabric had to be ordered and I had to make a special arrangement to have the fabric picked up by the upholsterer, necessitating several phone calls too, all of which was no problem.

We found Ashlar through this Homestars site. We conferred several times after his initial visit to confirm a plan to revise our front entrance way. He was very helpful with his suggestions, at the same time he listed to our requests. We had a bit of difficulty with a start date for the project but once agreed, the work began on time and was completed within the expected time period. He was very clear in outlining the detail of the project in his proposal and pricing and there were no surprises. I found Miko on Homestars and had him come to give an estimate. The job had 2 parts: painting all the inside kitchen cupboards in preparation for refacing and then painting the walls and ceiling upon completion of the kitchen makeover. The timing of both aspects was crucial in terms of the overall schedule. Miko met all our expectations: showing up as scheduled, completing as scheduled and painting very carefully and professionally. He was very helpful with suggestions. He prepared the areas for painting very well and tidied up each day and all for a very fair price. We will not hestitate to contact him again for our future painting needs, in fact we already have:we had him paint our garage door and he again did a fine job.

We are thrilled with our kitchen makeover - a task we were most reluctant to undertake, but now are so happy we did. Canlik Kitchens did a wonderful job - and we found them through HomeStars, in the first place! All members of the staff were helpful in their roles: Victor offered his expertise in a home visit regarding the details and modifications of the overall kitchen: Simon, the countertop specialist who came next and offered his suggestions. Pauline our Co-ordinator was always available, pleasant, helpful,patient and so organized. Her attention to all the details was most appreciated. Installation week was exactly on time and it all went like clockwork. Everyone who came was professional, polite,respectful and worked diligently. Michael deserves special mention as he was in our home for 5 days, always cheerful and consultative and a master craftsman.
