James had done some painting for us at our primary residence earlier this year. He did such a quality job that we asked him to quote a much bigger job at our 10 bedroom student rental. He was very professional and got the job done in our tight time line and his final price was exactly as he quoted. I highly recommend James for jobs big and small.

I highly recommend calling James for any paint job you have. He was flexible with his schedule and charged a fair price. We were in a bind and needed a painter at the last minute. Although James was fully booked, he came in during the evenings to get the job done before our tenant moved in. He's also very skilled, paints with clean lines and tidied his work area every night. A great painter and a pleasure to work with.

If you need a new garage door, or just need work done on your current system, call Scott Thomson at On Track Door Systems. Scott's professionalism and customer service was a welcome change from most contractors I've had to work with in the past. He went through all of our door, track and operator options and helped us make an informed decision. He remained patient and friendly with us while we took forever to make up our minds on the right door and the team at On Track was able to install ahead of schedule. We will definitely recommend On Track Door Systems to all of our family and friends.

I highly recommend Jos to anyone needing electrical work. We met with about 7 different electricians and Jos had the best quote by far. He was quick to respond and offered to work directly with our HVAC specialist (True Home Comfort) so that we wouldn't have to worry about it. I'll be sure to call Jos again the next time we need an electrician.

We've gone the last 4 years without AC in our home. Summer of 2010 was unbearably hot, so when I found out I was pregnant in Jan 2011, we decided this year we were finally going to get an AC installed. We were on a tight budget and leery of contractors. That's why I was so happy I found True Home Comfort on HomeStars. I spoke with Chris in Feb and he came out right away for a quote. He explained everything to us and gave us his opinions on which AC unit would be best. He gave us 3 options in different price ranges and didn't try to sell one unit over the other. Some months went by, I had some questions and Chris was always quick to respond. We got a couple of other quotes and Chris' came in the lowest. Eventually my husband and I made up our minds on the unit and install date and Chris accommodated our schedules and got in within 2 weeks. Yesterday our original thermostat started acting funny and I thought it might be an issue with the AC. I emailed Chris, he responded within 5 minutes and was over at our house within the hour! Turns out the thermostat was working, just old and fussy. You can't beat True Home Comfort's price and customer service.

If you need electrical work done for your HVAC install, you'll save money by hiring an electrician separately. Some HVAC companies will offer to do both (make sure they're licensed electricians) but they'll usually charge a premium. Chris worked directly with the electrician we went with and saved us money on electrician's bill too!

Steve was a great salesman, but a poor tradesman. I was naive. Had I done my homework, I would have found other bad reviews on Better Business Bureau and Ripoff.com. I hired Smoothcrete to take out our water damaged parkay floor in the basement and install decorative concrete instead. Steve (owner) convinced us of a concrete type and design that would be easy to install. The job took about 3 days (he said it would take 2 at most) and he had to come back a 4th day to fix the following problems: -Border lines weren't straight. He couldn't be bothered to use a ruler. -Border colour wasn't consistent throughout the floor. -Air/water bubbles everywhere. Concrete was not smooth/glossy. -Main field colour wasn't even close to the brown he promised. -Large yellow splotches everywhere. -Sloppy workmanship - couldn't be bothered to put back the closet or the baseboard heater. His customer service was terrible. He said this was my problem and at first refused to fix the huge issues he had left us with. Please do your homework and do NOT call Smoothcrete for any residential or commercial jobs.
