Cargo Cabbie were great when I had to move a piece of furniture at the last minute on a rainy day. I called Cargo Cabbie that morning and it was moved the same day. Javier and his sidekick (who I'm sure has a name) were professional, communicative, and highly entertaining. The job was confirmed quickly by phone and by text, and they called me when they realized that traffic would make them a little late. I'll definitely use Cargo Cabbie again, and am delighted to recommend it whole-heartedly.

Hi Carol,
Thank you for your awesome review! You had a truly unique Cargo Cabbie experience driving across town to deliver your item. We work hard to keep our clients happy, and we know that we need to prioritize customer service, in this age of online reviews. Thanks once again.

Steve has just finished painting the basement, which involved a lot of difficult custom cabinetry. He did a wonderful job. What was particularly impressive was how methodically he tackled the task: from the careful way he covered the new tile floor and the fixtures, to the order in which he tackled the cabinetry, to the way he painted. It took him longer--some days were just half-days--but the results were spectacular. He's really attentive to detail, and was good at drawing attention beforehand to tricky little decisions (and at making those decisions when we couldn't). Steve's also really courteous and reliable. He arrived every morning not just at 8 but before 8, and waitied outside in his truck until it was exactly 0800h. He responded quickly to messages, and was good at giving me heads-ups about what to anticipate. He left the basement utterly clean. And he took and remembered to send me these great photos! What more can you ask? This was the second time Steve worked on the house, and we'll certainly have him again. It's been fun reading the reviews that are already here and being able to add to them. Thanks, Steve!

Company Response

Thanks for the review Carol, I'm glad you liked the work. Those built in cabinets were very tedious. I ended up spraying the units in three different sections rather than painting them with a brush and roller which slowed down the progress a couple of days and made for a few half days. I didn't mind working an extra couple of days to ensure the best possible finish. In the end the spray finish always beats brush and roller.

Thanks again,

Steve Karakostas

We had some small & non-urgent jobs (bathroom sink - replacing trap & faucet). John's a little taciturn on first acquaintance, but he was punctual to give the free estimate, quoted a reasonable price, came back when he said he would, and not only did the jobs but fixed up a few things we hadn't noticed. Especially since a guy from another company had given a higher estimate for doing just one of the jobs, it's nice to know that there are companies that don't rip off ignorant ladies, for small jobs or large. Will certainly call John again and happy to recommend him to others.

I used this company at least ten years ago - the phone number's the same, so it's a good sign that they're still in business! On two separate occasions they came at short notice to replace screens in what at the time were huge, heavy, sash windows with old and very jam-prone aluminum storms. One of the windows was particularly bad (huge front window), but he worked nobly and got it out and replaced. I didn't have much money at the time and recall that the price wasn't unreasonable. [I've had to include a cost, but I honestly can't remember, and it was a long time ago.] I hope that they're still providing quick, reasonable, and solid service of this kind! The only reason I didn't choose 5/5 for recommendation is because it was so long ago.

Mark from National Home Inspection did a "mid-life" home inspection for us after we'd had the house for 13 years and were finally in the position of being able to deal with some of its little quirks. Because we know the house pretty well we could appreciate all the things that Mark spotted - and all the things that we hadn't. (Keep your eavestroughs clean or terrible things will happen!) We particularly appreciated the computer-generated report, along with the estimates for repairs necessary and the prioritization of how urgent things are. The report also comes with a guide to how much repairs of all kinds had cost in the previous year. It's really helpful to have a good sense of ballpark prices, especially when you're an obviously female and obviously kind of ignorant homeowner having to deal with tradespeople. The cost of the inspection is a really useful investment towards the future repairs that are inevitable. Highly recommended!
