The windows arrived at the warehouse in the dead of winter, rather than in the fall when expected; but to be fair, we had been warned of delays in the manufacturing process, and there was no pressure to get them installed before we were ready. When the time came to install them, the weather was not optimal. I was a little worried about empty windows when rain was threatening; but the crew got them installed in good time, finishing the trim while dealing with some drizzle. Dundas was able to install trim that matches the eaves troughs and trim colour of the house. (They use a company that has lots of colours). The windows look great inside and out. During the process the crew protected interior flooring. Also one fellow kindly accommodated us and saved us some trouble by putting back a blind for us. Ultimately we are generally satisfied and will likely use Dundas Windows, if or when we decide to replace a few more windows.

I first encountered Quality First Roofing after a windstorm in 2018 when I was having difficulty finding anyone to repair our roof. Quality First promptly sent a man who quickly and efficiently replaced all the shingles that had blown off. I therefore chose the company again for repair of two apparent leaks (unrelated to the previous work). Michael responded quickly and came to assess the problem areas. He then resealed the chimney flashings and sealed some nail holes. He also went beyond the scope of the trade by pointing out a chimney issue and temporarily sealing some cracks. He thoroughly explained what was happening on the roof, providing copious photos of the problem areas and of his repair work. He also made us aware of more extensive work that might be necessary in the future. Michael had to contend with unpredictable wind conditions, but he got the job done. With his readiness to explain and keep the customer well informed, along with a friendly, professional manner, Michael is really a good guy to deal with. Linda

We had used Aqua Tech previously for waterproofing and weeping tile installation just at the back of our house. Circumstances necessitated extending the weeping tiles and waterproofing to the front of our house, along with re-location of the sump pump. Little did I know what a huge, complex job this would be. Once again Aqua Tech came through for us. Nick sent his crew Igor and Igor (one younger, one older, I think). They worked extremely hard, and put in long hours. In 3 long days, they accomplished much more than some other tradesmen do in 2 weeks. The work entailed digging a very long trench, parging and several layers of waterproofing, laying weeping tile, pulling out big bushes––– backbreaking work. There was also some pipe work. Re-location of a sump pump sounds easy, but it entailed considerable planning and a lot more digging. Igor, the younger, patiently explained anything that concerned me. I appreciate that I have a good understanding of what was done and how. I was concerned about the grading of the soil away from the house. I am very pleased with the grade all around the house. At the end of each day, they cleaned up nicely and carefully secured the work site. On the last day, they did a beautiful job of attending to little details and cleaning up with a power washer. Anthony M did a routine maintenance recently on our ductless air conditioner. He was prompt, courteous and efficient. I sometimes wonder whether it is necessary to have this service call every year. But the Mitsubishi ductless is an excellent product : it provides great cooling and dehumidification of my big, century old house. It has worked perfectly for 5 years. If these service calls keep it working for many more years, then I guess it is worth it.

We chose Aqua Tech based on observation of their work nearby, a neighbour's recommendation, reviews and price. I had dreaded this job, knowing that it entailed disruption of landscaping and a challenging dig under a porch. With his genial manner and sense of humour, Nick tried to reassure me, but it still seemed like an impossible job in my mind. When the crew- Bob and Val- arrived, the job went smoothly and quickly from the start. The were very hard-working and courteous, digging up a ton of buried debris without complaint. They were very accommodating e.g. in mounding the soil, they adapted to our request and were mindful of the neighbour's property. Val even replanted a tree. Bob patiently answered all my questions. And they found a way to save a post. They efficiently accomplished 36 ft of excavation, applied several layers of wall treatment, installed weepers and sump pump in only 2 and a half days, cleaning and securing the site each day. Considering the upheaval, when all was done, our yard looked surprisingly good. It was much less stressful than expected––I do appreciate that.

I am very satisfied with the split-type ductless air conditioner that Belyea Brothers installed in our house 3 years ago. First of all, they carry one of the best in this category: the Mitsubishi Mr. Slim. It has been far more effective than the previous ductless air conditioner. One large unit placed in a stairwell cools the main floor, 2nd floor and basement of a large house and cuts the humidity very well. This Mitsubishi has been trouble free for the past 3 years. Secondly, I was impressed by the husband-and-wife team that installed this air conditioner. They worked hard and efficiently on an installation that wasn't easy. The man came up with a good idea: to obviate the need to break the wall in the future, he suggested an access door, which would hardly be noticed. It wasn't necessary to install an new bracket for the outdoor unit. When a guy in the office discovered this, he promptly reimbursed us.

4 years ago I gave a review regarding a squirrel problem. Last year we called Gates again for a squirrel problem in a different location. We had a DIY cap on an unused kitchen chimney, which had become detached. I was hearing pitter-patter and scratching sounds in the kitchen and in the room above it. Dan from Gates cheerfully clambered on to our high roof and tall chimney. He quickly determined that a squirrel had gone down the chimney , but because of a clay liner at the top, it couldn't get back up. He lowered a rope, installed a one-way door and food bait. A couple of days later, he came back, saw that the food was eaten, and put a secure cap on the chimney. No more scratching, no more squirrel. Gates is more expensive than many pest companies, but everything is done in a safe and professional way, and the problem is solved.

Gates is significantly more expensive than some wildlife removal companies, but they are one of very few that seem to be insured. I get very nervous when I see someone the age of my sons going up on our high roof. With Gates, there is at least some peace of mind in that their workers are covered. A few years ago, we called Gates when our neighbour thought squirrels were entering on our roof. The workers determined that they weren't entering and didn't charge us anything. Recently, after we actually saw the bushy tail disappear under the soffit, Dan from Gates installed a one-way door and screening for the base price. He meshed up another vulnerable area for an extra charge (as expected). When he returned to seal up the original entry, we asked him to check a hidden, vulnerable junction that we had just spotted from our balcony on the other side of the house. He checked that and meshed it off with no extra charge. His service was prompt, friendly and professional. When there was a delay, he called. I hope the problem is resolved. Time will tell. But, if there is any further problem, my hunch is that the company would be helpful and forthcoming.
