I contacted Insta-Insulation initially because they are the official insulation contractor for Mike Holmes of Holmes Inspection. I’m so glad I did. First I met Trevor, who gave me a quote to insulate my two attics. He answered all my questions, including questions I didn’t know enough to ask. It was an extremely hot day when the installers were here and I couldn't have asked for a better team. They were very polite, knowledgeable and professional. They let me know everything they were doing ahead of time. When Pat-The-Cat came out of hiding to check on things, the guys were very good with him/her. (None of them had seen an animal that is both male and female before.) Everyone I met from Insta-Insulation was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. I have since recommended them to two other homeowners. And now, I am able to turn down my air conditioner temperature by 2 degrees.

I hired Arborwood to prune my crabapple tree. They cleaned up the site well and I think they did a good job. But, I asked if this was the right time to prune and was told yes. I now wish I had waited because there are a couple of bird's nests in that tree and I hadn't noticed them before. They were disturbed while the man was pruning. It took the man less then 1/2 hour to finish and the cost was $275.00 plus tax. I thought that was rather expensive.

$250.00 and they didn't do anything! My toilette tank was taking a very long time to fill with water after flushing. This problem had been going on for about a week. I looked up the problem and discovered it was the toilette intake valve and it would be simple to fix. I couldn't do it myself due to health reasons so I called Plumber.ca. The guy that answered the phone said he could have someone here the same day and I told him that wasn't necessary if they were busy, but fine with me. A different guy came out and when he got here, he told me there was a service charge of $199.00 just for showing up. I had been tricked!! Since I was in for $200.00 I asked him what it would cost to replace the toilette Intake Valve. He looked it up in his binder and showed me it would be $437.50! So I told him to leave and he said I still owed him the $199.00. I felt intimidated so I took our my chequebook. He handed me a bill for $250.00 including tax. There was a further $20.00 was pre-printed on the invoice labeled, "Fuel Charge". OMG!!! And nothing was done! It was a $20.00 part at Home Depot and a friend changed it for me in about 15 minutes. I should have checked Homestars first. I usually do and now it seems that if I don't, it costs me a lot of money.

I called because my toilette was only flushing properly part time. I thought it might be a drain problem. I chose a company in Burlington because I like to shop locally. The fellow that arrived was from St. Catharines. No big deal. He flushed the toilette quite a few times and it seemed to work for him. He told me I would just have to hold down the leaver for a slow count of three to make it work properly. The problem might be with the drain. I did want to see how the drain was for myself so I asked him to use the camera. I knew it wasn't necessary but it was very interesting. He said the drain was okay and I bought some bio choice to break down the grease stuff that had accumulated over the years. He didn't have any drain cleaner on his truck so he said he'd deliver it next time he was in Burlington. After a week, I called the company and they did deliver the cleaner I had paid for. I told a friend what had happened and she said I probably had a lazy toilette and I needed to take the end of a coat hanger and clean out each hole under the rim and clean out the jet hole in the bottom. I did as she said but there wasn't much calcium buildup so I figured I'd just have to live with this problem. Then I flushed the toilette. Holy Toledo!! It now flushes perfectly every time without having to hold the leaver down. It's the little things in life that can make your day.

Very scary experience for me. I am widow living alone. I had a small gas leak in the flex hose of my kitchen stove. They said they had a gas fitter that could fix it. I also have a gas dryer and I suggested that since a gas fitter was coming, maybe he could also clean the lint from my gas dryer. Two guys, a father and his son, showed up in an unmarked pickup truck 1/2 hour late. They wanted to start on the dryer downstairs. The son, wearing flip-flops started taking the dryer apart. I asked if he had a license to do that and he said it was okay. Meanwhile the father had wondered off through the rec room and into the den. He was remarking on what a good appliance I had in there. Then he looked out into my garden and commented on that. After he went back into the rec room and sat himself down on the couch, I hurried back to the laundry room to see what the son was doing. He had pulled out the carpet cleaner and I asked him why. He thought it was a vacuum cleaner. I put the carpet cleaner back and pulled out my vacuum cleaner for him. Meanwhile, the father had wondered off to the kitchen upstairs. I went up and found he had pulled out the stove to look at it. He then sat down and suggested that the problem might be with the stove and maybe I would like to buy a good second hand stove from him. Of course I said no. I felt he was trying to keep me from seeing what was going on with the dryer. I went back downstairs, leaving the father in the kitchen, and the son said he had replaced a part that would need replacing soon anyway since he had the dryer apart. I never saw it. He said he had cleaned out the lint and I pointed out 1 section that had lint and he said he had moved his screwdriver around in there and it was okay. He also said the vents were okay and didn't need cleaning. As they got ready to leave, they said the gas fitter couldn't make it today after all. When they gave me the bill, I was too afraid to dispute it. I noticed later that they had taken my cheque straight to my bank to cash it. I phoned them later and they just got me off the phone as soon as possible.

Referred to me by Varoco Inc. who did my kitchen cabinets, to disconnect the kitchen sink plumbing and reconnect it after the counter top was in. Derek also fixed a toilette that didn't flush well for $105.00 included in price as below. I had to wait about 3 days for him to come back and reconnect the sink. Cooking without a sink is difficult. The kitchen sink and bathroom toilette work well now. The total cost of labour was 11 hours for $385.00 and the total cost of materials was $283.95 in spite of the fact that the sink came with a lot of parts and pieces. This was far too much money for the job in my opinion.

Ian arrived right when he said he would and he did an excellent job. I found him to be very knowledgeable and helpful. I was curious about what he was doing and why, so I asked him a lot of questions. He has a great attitude which I find is hard to come by these days. I asked him for some extra business cards to hand out to people I know, so I would obviously recommend him to everyone.

My eavestroughs were installed in 1979 and were in rough shape. There was a small leak just over the front door and ice would pile up in the winter and lock me in. They were 4” eavestroughs and in a heavy rain they would overflow everywhere, defeating the purpose of having them. I recently bought a rain barrel and I was concerned about removing it for the winter. One company I got a quote from really had no idea how to handle this. Superior Exterior had no problem with this situation and had a very simple solution that I could manage on my own. I was very impressed with their knowledge and their workmanship. One person I know had new eavestroughs installed by another company and has had problems with drainage. Wendell knew exactly why that had happened and told me how it should have been done to prevent it. He also noticed that the upper eavestrough dumped water straight onto the lower roof and he solved that problem too. (I have a back-split house with 2 roofs.) The installers were very experienced, efficient, knowledgeable and polite. I was asking a lot of questions and they had the answers. Installing is not as simple as it looks. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
