our front porch needed to be re-done; John gave us different options and prices until we decided on the one for us. He and Paul arrived early, worked and left the area tidy each evening. He didn't even show us the end result until he was satisfied with the finished product. we were delighted and we want him to come back in the spring for another job.

BBG replaced my front porch and did a great job. The quality and craftsmanship of their work is excellent and John & Paul were a pleasure to work with. They designed the porch based on my rough ideas and it turned out exactly as I envisioned. I was away the week the work was done and when I returned to a beautiful new front porch I was thrilled. John (and his crew) did an incredible job in our backyard. The workmanship was perfection. He showed up on time, cleaned up after himself and charged exactly what was quoted. I was sad to see him leave....I'm trying to think up another project to get him back!

I was really happy with the work that John did for us. We hired him to re-do our front and back porches on our older home in Greektown. The job required taking down the entire back porch, and most of the front, and was completed earlier this summer in the span of 1.5 weeks. John took the time to discuss what our needs were before any work had progressed, and touched base regularly throughout to update and make any designs tweaks as they came up. We ran into a few unexpected issues (e.g., rotted wood in our rear foundation) that were only visible once work began and John walked us through our options for addressing them before he proceeded. While some of these unforeseen issues added to the cost the final price was still within a comfortable range of the estimate, and the additional costs for the unexpected work were always relayed to me prior to the work being done. I certainly feel that our porch was worth what we paid for it. I can't speak to other types of home renovation, since this was the first job they did for us, but they certainly struck me as competent and knowledgeable. I would certainly consider hiring them again (and already am thinking about it!) for some other projects here. Overall we are thrilled with the result. The craftsmanship is wonderful and we are constantly getting compliments on the work. It really has enhanced the feel of our house and I'm happy we went with BBG.

BBG Carpentry did an excellent job replacing the pressure treated flooring that had rotted on my back deck with beautiful cedar. My deck looks great and the workmanship was first class. They did the work professionally, efficently, on budget and on time. It was a pleasure dealing with John Groves and his assistant Paul. It was my first time dealing with BBG and I would certainly use them again for other jobs and would enthusiatically recommend them to others.

John and his equally competent colleague Paul came to level a sloping subfloor in my house. Despite illness, the project was completed on time and on budget. I wouldn't hesitate to call BBG again and will recommend to anyone who asks.

I hired John to design, build and install a deck that covered my backyard. I hired him based on the reviews here on Homestars and a preliminary meeting with him when he stopped by to quote the job. His quote was very competitive and he does not cut corners (respects all building code rules and safety). Our deck is gorgeous but more importantly safe and extremely well built. This sounds like boosted praise but truthfully, my wife and I could not have been happier with his work and he has set such a high standard for us that it will be hard to hire anyone else in the future. Seriously, look no further, you can trust John and his team and they will deliver.

We initially called John based on the reviews on HomeStars. Since then we have had John and Dave come back several times to help us with our renovation. Amongst other things, they did beautiful, high quality trim work and created a new closet for us by borrowing a piece of the garage. Though they are very busy we hope to have them back to complete the wood work in the rest of our house. We appreciate that John was very accommodating in fitting us in.

John and Dave built 2 partition walls, insulated, drywalled, plastered, hung 2 doors and precut all the baseboard and door trim for me in less than 2 days. John is passionate at what he does and it is clear through his attention to detail. Eventhough they were fast (which is a good thing when paying by the day), the quality of work did not suffer, in fact it exceeded my expectations. Simply outstanding work. Recommending John comes without any hesitation.
