Mike and his team of contractors were great to work with. They helped us remodel the existing kitchen to create an open concept layout, including 3D and 2D drawings of the proposed new layout and choice of building materials. They also installed new flooring and light fixtures in the living/dining areas and new countertops in the bathrooms. Mike coordinated all the various contractors and stages of renovations to keep on schedule and budget. He made sure we were informed and satisfied with the work throughout the process, even after the project was completed. He worked with us to address and resolve any concerns we had. The crew were friendly and kept a tidy workspace. We moved into the house halfway through the renovations and they were courteous and respectful of our presence in these covid times. I recommend M & D Buildings for any home renovations.

Overall, I had an excellent experience with M&D Builders. The company representative, Mr Messiha, guided me through the building permit process in Mississauga. His team was able to produce professionally engineered drawings that supported a ground-floor renovation. This renovation comprised a new vaulted ceiling, a new opening between a living room and kitchen space and other miscellaneous modifications.

Mr Messiha was particularly effective and first-rate. He ensured that communication was clear, timely and concise. I appreciated all of his efforts and would highly recommend him for any future projects. Thanks again M&D Builders for your help.

Mike and his team are excellent professionals who walk the talk and deliver high quality work, as promised! I contacted Mike to build a wall in my condo so I could sell with an extra room. I couldn't have been more pleased with the final results! The wall addition was seamless due to the high quality its construction. Both Mike and the contractor that built the wall were very patient with me and answered all my questions. The contractor was very considerate of my home and make sure to protect the furniture and appliances in his work area. He worked very quickly and efficiently! I was also very impressed that Mike took the time check-in with me each day, letting me know what was done on the day and what to expect next. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend Mike and his team for any home renovations!

M&D Construction just completed our basement bathroom project. It was a complete remodel. Plumbing repositioning and reinstalled perfectly to our specs. The work was completed in the amount of time discussed. We added a few changes/features along the way and were able to accommodate us. Mike, the project manager, was personable, responsive, flexible and quick to respond to any and all of our questions or concerns. Each contractor was superior in their profession. M & D Buildings did an amazing renovation on the main floor of our house. From the first time we met to discuss the scope of our project, Mike went above and beyond to make sure we both had a clear understanding of what we wanted so that he could properly quote the project. Mike was very attentive to our needs, always returned calls and answered texts making sure ALL our questions were answered. Once the renovation started, the team worked hard and paid very close attention to detail, and checked in periodically with questions and presented good ideas. The team finished the renovation one week ahead of schedule and they did a BEAUTIFUL job! We couldn’t be happier with our new flooring, brand new kitchen, brand new staircase and the best part - an opening between our dining and living rooms. Every last detail was taken care of. We hired M&D Buildings to undertake a renovation of our entire main floor and the laundry room in the basement. The main floor includes a kitchen, living room, and powder room. We also removed a wall that divided the kitchen and living room. From start to finish our experience was extremely positive. Mike, our project manager is professional, thorough and realistic. He managed all of the work efficiently and arranged for any required permits and inspections. His engineering background allowed him to help us better understand structural changes we requested. He communicated with us frequently and kept us up-to-date on the progress of the work. It was very easy to work with Mike as he accommodated to our wants and needs to the best of his abilities and provided sensible alternatives to help us stay on budget.
The outstanding contracting team are skilled and produced quality workmanship. They left the house neat and tidy every night. Our renovations went quickly with almost no obstacles. We are extremely happy with our renovations and I would highly recommend hiring Mike and his team. We will definitely work with them again for future projects.

We are absolutely thrilled with our kitchen. it looks so beautiful. Everything from the cabinets, to the counter top, the backsplash to the lighting and the flooring was what we had hoped it would be and more. Mike’s team consisted of Les, Safi, Laura, Walter, Viktor, Antonio and a few others.

From the moment we first spoke with Mike, we felt so comfortable with him and felt like we would be in really good hands with him. And it turns out that we felt that way throughout the entire renovation. Whenever we needed to speak with Mike, he was very consistent in taking phone calls, responding to texts or would get back to us promptly.

When we were considering who to hire, we talked to a few other people and we just didn’t feel as comfortable with them. Reading Mike’s reviews reinforced our initial impression and that’s why we’d like to write this review for all of you who might be considering hiring him.

We don’t have much experience with renovating, but we have worked with a few contractors in the past. A few years ago we chose a contractor because he had done work for other members of our family. I think a lot of people do things this way because of a trust factor. As it turns that was not a great way to choose a contractor as the guy we chose based on our family referral turned out to be totally unprofessional.

We were a little hesitant to work with a complete stranger on such a big project, however Mike made us feel very comfortable right from the beginning and was very patient with all of our caution and questions during the hiring process.

One of the things we liked the most about working with Mike and all the the people he contracted for us with was how they would think of things that we wouldn’t think to ask to ask for. Some of these things would cost them extra work and not cost us extra money. They were kind enough to treat us with this kind of TLC throughout the project.

The people that Mike contracted were also very professional, clean and highly reliable. They kept thinking of things that were helpful to us and doing a lot of nice touches that we did not expect or they would come up with solutions to problems we encountered. They went above and beyond our expectations.

In one of the pics we have included you can see a spice wall that we put up. Before we did the reno there was a light-switch in the middle of the wall which made it very difficult to line up the spice racks to look nice. We were so grateful to Walter, the electrician who moved the light-switch to a wall in the living room. Walter also helped us get electricity and cable into the left side of the kitchen which helped us eliminate wires on the floor coming from the living room that needed a strip that was taped down. Also we purchased under the cabinet lighting and Walter created a special electrical outlet that made all wires completely out of sight. There were so many extra things that Walter did that we were so grateful for. Les had suggested the Pot lighting and figured solutions for issues that came up that we were so happy with.

Any time you do a renovation there are going to be a few bumps along the way.

One of the things that happened to us that was upsetting, might have been partially due to our own inexperience and not knowing what the standards are these days. We chose to have some large drawers instead of cabinets, however we were surprised to find out that even though we had 24 inch deep enclosures, we received 18 inch deep drawers.  Maybe this wouldn’t be an issue for some people but these large drawers were replacing cabinets where we wanted to keep our pots, pans and lots of other cookware/utensils and the 18 inch drawers were not large enough to fit much. Our old kitchen had 22 inch drawers so that’s why we were so surprised to discover that we would receive such short drawers. There was nothing in the detailed drawings showing this Also we have drawer inserts that were working very well for our silverware etc. that would not fit into the 18 inch drawers. The reason we mention this in this review is because we hope that no one else will have a surprise like this just in case you don’t think to discuss this or ask about this before you settle on what you’re hiring them to do.

Mike was kind enough to replace the six drawers with six 20 inch drawers at his own expense. Also we had a couple of plumbing issues and Mike was kind enough to take care of the extra costs involved even though we noticed these things a few days after the project was complete and the payment had already been made in full.

Mike had told us that this project would take 3 to 6 weeks to complete. Our Reno was finished in 4 weeks. We really appreciated that as well.

So everything that we thought Mike would be turned out to be true and he’s the kind of contractor that you can trust to take care of you and make sure that you’ll be really happy with everything that his team does.

This was my second time using M&D for a bathroom renovation, the first time having been an overall great experience. I don't expect any interaction with a contractor to ever go perfectly, but as with our last project, this one was basically as close as you could get. Mike and his team were professional from start to finish, always had time to address any of my concerns, and were flexible when there were delays on my end.

To top it off, the COVID lockdowns hit right in the middle of the project and we ended up having our vanity delivery delayed by several weeks as a result. Almost as soon as it was ready, Mike's team was in to quickly and safely finish the job.

As somewhat of a perfectionist, all of the work was completed with a high degree of attention to detail, and I couldn't ask for any better. I would definitely recommend them and will of course consider them again for any future work.

After living in our home for a few years, we discovered that a section of floor on the upper level of the house, and ceiling directly below, were beginning to sag noticeably. We guessed that a previous owner had removed some load-bearing structures in this area in order to make the space more “open-concept”, but without properly securing it. Structural issues are concerning, and of course we wanted to make sure that we hired a good company to resolve it in the best way possible. We called in three different companies to consult, but in the end, we decided that M & D Buildings offered the most creative and structurally sound solution. And, we would be able to still keep the space as open-concept as possible. I am very happy that we went with M & D Buildings for this project. Not just because they had the best solution, but for a number of other points as well. In terms of professional integrity, this company is certainly as good as it gets. Project Manager Mike Messiha responded to all of my texts and calls in a prompt and courteous manner. He was very patient and responsive with the many questions that I had with regards to the contract and project. When we had some logistic and timing issues on our end, he was able to accommodate us and made sure everything worked smoothly. Mike and his team were always at our home EXACTLY on time. If they said they would arrive at 8:00am, the doorbell rang at 8:00am. The quality of work was, I’m sure, the best there is. They were exact and thorough, and no corners cut. I asked that they finish the project to be “paint ready”, and they did that nicely. Now for the first time in years, the upstairs floor feels firm, structurally sound, and safe, and we have the confidence that it will last. Thank you Mike and team for caring for us and our house!
