paint

My wife and I moved into a new house. We are faithful purchasers of a particular paint brand. we have collected all of their paint chips over the years as we are fond of many of the colours. We wanted to use the paint from our previous homes in a different room. teh paint colour was no longer available. the staff in the dept worked very diligently to match the colour to meet our expectations they exceeded our expectations and did not hesitate to re-mix to make the colour as exact as possible to the original. Job well done

Basement Renovation

We purchased a lot of rental from Home Depot. It was amazing how we found all the tools that we needed without having to spend money on buying the equipment. We were there everyday asking questions and got so much help and kindness. We would not think to go anywhere else especially because of the great customer contact we received. Its like the company was looking out for the best interest of every customer's unique needs.

Purchase & installation of new Washer & Dryer

We met with and liked the salesman at Home Depot, he talked us into a wonderful pair of Maytag units with pedestals. It was cheaper than [another company], was in stock at the warehouse, agreed to delivery date, included delivery and setup, would haul away the old units etc etc. Everything looked great!

THEN. Phone calls started - units were not available, they were not in stock, dates were given, additional calls came, dates change three times, ended up on a date when I wasn't available but my wife would be. Agreed and paid Home Depot extra $150 to make sure everything worked and put the units on the pedestals. First visit - they could not install as the old unit was attached to the taps! Seems workmen cannot unattach hoses from existing units, and my wife cannot. So they left. I came home from my trip, unattached the hoses, capped the taps ready for the next visit. The next visit involved a discussion on the side vent, which we asked fro when we bought the units, and as the "unit is set up for that" one would assume that meant we would be able to install it - well no it doesn't. In fact neither Home Depot nor Maytag/Westinghouse knew how to switch the unit from rear vent to side vent. So this time they added the pedestals and left. Finally, we got a handyman - not sure who he worked for, but he phoned and asked questions, picked up hoses and pipes and things from Rona (:-)) and came to the house, he diverted the vent, set it up with the pedestals correctly and connected the newly purchased longer hoses to the washer. Did not mention the fact tat the units are sold with standard hoses, despite being pushed with pedestals, which adds at least 12" to the host length. SO special longer hoses are required.

All in all the experience with the final worker was great.

The experiences with the store, with Home Depot help desk (in Atlanta) and with Westinghouse basically stunk. Talk about left and right hands. So many messages, so many calls, and all from someone selling what he could without selling a solution.

Will not be doing a major purchase at HD nor would I recommend anyone do so, unless they are prepared for issues.

Bedroom reno

Lack of service, product knowledge is weak. I shop there a lot and they have had a lot of products but not enough people to help me. Very frustrating.

New Bathroom

The staff at this location were excellent when my husband and I went to get some advice about starting a new bathroom in our basement. They were able to give us many pointers as well as help choose the best products to use.

flooring

Great customer service. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Would go back for all other home reno ideas. Many suggestions as to which choice of underpadding and type of wood laminate to choose from. Provided quality customer service as well as being very informative. Rather than upselling they suggested the best quality laminate for the money. Thanks so much and worked within our budget!

Home Consultation, Interior Design Service

Home Depot offers a complimentary service for homeowners - to have a professional interior designer visit your home. In principal this is a fantastic idea and especially helpful for new homeowners. Word of warning to be prepared for lots of input which can be helpful but also slightly overwhelming. Our particular consultant made comments on things in the house which we were actually already happy with! But if you need a second opinion - go for it!

Custom Shelving for Cupboards

I'm not much of a do-it-yourselfer but the staff at Home Depot are so knowledgeable and helpful that organizing my cupboard was easy. The only thing is it can be difficult to find their sales staff in the first place. They may want to hire more staff for evenings and weekends.

Architectural Model Making

Although I had a difficult time trying to find someone who could help me and who knew about lumber, once I did find someone, they were Exceptionally helpful, offering not only the best products but also most cost efficient for me.
