The problem? My wife called 5 different roofers and only one actually bothered to both call back and provide an estimate: Avenue Road Roofing. They are known as the most expensive in the city but we figured, well, at least we'll get a good repair even if we have to overpay. In retrospect, that was a riduculous assumption.
It took 3 months of constant calling for them to actually appear at our house to repair the rood. 3 MONTHS! I can't even tell you how many people we spoke to along the way. It was nauseating. They quoted $1500 for a day and a half of work. It ended up taking around 3 hours. They claimed the rest of the time was spent in preparation for the job (ie. getting materials, driving to our house). I'm not making this stuff up, by the way. Sad, but true. Anyways, when they finished they left the old slats and some of their tools on our driveway and drove off. They never came back for the tools or to clean up. The items then froze to the driveway for about a month or so. When the spring thaw finally arrived I removed the slats and the rusty pry bar (I have small children by the way. So it was great having these sharp items in an easily accessible location) and ended up cutting my hand. Now, six months later I still have a small scar on my left hand. Thanks Avenue Road. This way I can either look up at my roof or look down at my hand and remember your exceptional service. Kudos!
