We had an air conditioner installed last year, it has been a problem ever since. We had icing problems, and the air wasn't coming out properly cooled, etc. Don himself came out to look and told us "nothing is wrong". I was in disbelief when my wife told me.
So I called in their competitor "HW", they sent in a guy with 15 years’ experience. Sure enough, we were 2 pounds low on Freon. Why ? Because there was a leak, on a system installed 12 months ago !
So it cost me $350 to find a problem that should have been covered free of charge by Don (a problem I shouldn't even be having on a one year old unit). Not only that, but HW said it may take up to 2 hours to find the actual leak, which will be additional labour. We called Don back, and explained how his competitor found the issue that he himself couldn’t find, I wanted the leak covered for free – that seem fair to me as the system is only 12 months old, plus I am now out of pocket $350 to his competitor, sure enough they want to charge me !! If I am going to pay, it’s going to be to HW, the guys that actually found the problem, not to the incompetent hacks that installed the unit in the first place (and couldn't find the problem).
I made the mistake of not doing enough research before hiring an HVAC company. Do not make the same mistake I did, do yourself a favour and avoid Don's at all costs. These guys employ very inexperienced staff so they don't have to pay much money, as a result you end up paying premium price for rookie service, then when you call them out to fix their own errors they want to charge you ! Unreal. Just terrible.
