Windows and Doors Replacement

ADDITIONAL UPDATE: Our problem patio door has been replaced and not in a snowstorm thank goodness :) We are more than pleased with the fixing of our problem. As always the personnel we have dealt with at Capitall Exterior have been top notch and we would highly recommend them.

UPDATE: My review has changed mainly due to an issue with the manufacturer of the patio doors we received. The patio door that was the problem upon installation will continue to be a problem. On our cold winter days, frost would form on the seam of the door where the glass meets the picture frame part and at the bottom where it was placed on the original door frame when the other door from the same manufacturer was cut out due to defect/damage. You can feel air where it was cut if the wind is coming from the right direction. Thinking refusal of the product would have been the proper way to go but were trying to be accommodating due to the distance traveled and time already spent. None of the other doors or windows had frost on them. Have been in contact with pictures back when the frost was forming last winter but nothing has been resolved as of yet. Am still feeling ggrrrr about doors not framed for 2x6 which really should have been addressed prior to ordering. If windows and entry doors are ordered for 2x6 - wouldn't you question your final order if the patio doors didn't match ? And if the doors had to change to a different look and manufacturer - that would be the route to take.

We took on a major project this year with the renovating/updating of our acreage property. Within a day or so of researching online, Joe drove the 1.5 hrs out to meet us. He was really good to deal with and provided pricing on the spot - which I liked. None of this waiting weeks for a price and then you wonder; maybe they don't want to drive that distance. Not the case with Capitall.
We were changing out 4 entry doors, adding 2 storm doors, replacing 3 patio doors and a total of 19 windows throughout the property. The installation ended up being split up due to arrival of some product while waiting for the balance to arrive. Didn't bother us. Besides, that would have been too much to do in one day - especially with the snow that always seemed to occur the day they were coming out. The installer, Terence was awesome to deal with and he himself was not happy with 2 of the patio doors due to manufacturer defects and said they would be replaced which they were. Gotta love attention to detail when we are exactly the same way - you pay good money for something; it should be right. Too many companies out there are of the "good enough" mentality - if the homeowner doesn't say anything; keep your mouth shut !
Our only irk in the whole process is the patio doors. They are not built for 2x6 framing. Manufacturer only builds for 2x4 framing. Kinda crazy. Terence did finish them off with same sand color blocking. Anyone looking at them would know nothing - but we know. When the replacement patio doors showed up there was still an issue with one. Terence ended up doing another trip out to service that door. Think he could drive there with his eyes closed at this point. They even brought out some mdf to trim out the cabin windows - we'll be changing that out. Not all Ben's fault.....haha. Cabin was built in 1950's - you get what you get.
With changing out the windows and also adding blinds, the house has been very cool this summer. Waiting to see what winter brings but don't anticipate too much issue - and if there is, we know Capitall will be out to service their products.
Because Capitall is an Exterior Solution company, we also did some work on our chimney chase with Quality Stone. The chase went up about 25' off the deck. As we were doing this same stone on the interior, we thought it would look sssooooo good to do on the outside but neither my husband or I will do heights. Terence to the rescue again ! Craig and Mikey came out one weekend with Terence to tackle that job for us. Truly genuine, awesome guys - even Mikey..... :) Unfortunately for them, it was one of the hottest weekends of the summer and the chase is on the south side of the house ! Fantastic and honest people to deal with. Too bad they don't do metal roofs - that is our next step. Thanks again guys for all you have done -- so far....
