When to Ask For Reviews

The best time to ask for a review is after a job is complete and the homeowner who hired you is fully satisfied with your work. Don’t wait too long — you’ll want to ask while the project is still fresh on their mind. But homeowners need to be able to assess how well you see a project through from start to finish before they can leave accurate feedback. Holding off until this stage in the process gives them that chance. Keep in mind that there are limitations to how many reviews can be requested for unpaid Service Pros. Who to Ask for Reviews

While it may seem like you should restrict your review requests to homeowners who were easily pleased with your work, the best reviews often come from homeowners who were the hardest to win over. Potential customers don’t just read reviews to see how great your work is, they also want to see whether you’re open to feedback, courteous, patient, and more. When considering whether to request a review from a particular homeowner, ask yourself whether you were able to demonstrate any of these qualities over the course of their job and if so, request away. 

How to Ask for Customer Reviews

The easiest way to ask for a review is to approach the conversation as a final check-in with your customer. Make sure the homeowner who hired you is fully satisfied with your work, address any remaining questions or comments they may have and thank them for their business. You can track your review request status on both the HomeStars for Pros App, and on your mobile.

From there, it should be easy to transition the conversation to reviews. Explain how important reviews are to the success of your business, how easy they are to write, and how little effort it takes to leave one. If you’re stuck on how to communicate this, try using one of the following lines: 

“Homeowners pay close attention to reviews during hiring decisions, so your review will help ensure the future success of our business.” 

“Reviews help build our online reputation, so it would be awesome if you could share your feedback to educate other homeowners about the quality of our work.”

 “Reviews are super easy to write. You’ll receive a review request from HomeStars that will take you directly to the right page, and it’ll only take a minute or two from there.” 

Once they’ve agreed to leave their feedback, let them know they will be receiving a review request from HomeStars via text, and send the request as soon as possible. 

How to Use the Review Request Feature On Your Desktop Dashboard:

Step 1: 

Click on the green box ‘REQUEST A REVIEW’ in the upper right corner of your lead inbox

A review request window pops up with all your client details pre-filled. It includes their contact information and the project name. Considering the importance of requesting regular reviews using the right contact method provided by the homeowner, you have the option to choose how you want to request a review: send them an email, text or both. Additionally, if you have a different phone number or email to contact the homeowner, you can use that as well by enabling editing.

Once you fill out the contact information and hit the send button, homeowners will receive a notification for a review request in real-time. If they don’t submit a review upon receiving the first notification, we will send them another notification in 24 hours! This way you don’t have to keep up with the follow-up every single day.

Click on the blue box ‘Send Request’ and voila! Your review request is sent just like that!!

Make sure you are sending the review request to homeowners who hired you for a project. Sending a review request to homeowners you haven’t worked with or are still working on their project, won’t earn you any reviews.

On Your HomeStars for Pros App:

Step 1: 

Click on the blue box ‘Request Review’ in the lower right corner of your lead inbox in the app

Make sure you are sending the review request to homeowners who hired you for a project. If you weren’t hired for the project or if you are still working on the project, click on the grey ‘CANCEL button. However, if you successfully completed the project, you can click on the blue ‘YES, I WAS HIRED’ button.

A ‘Request a Review’ form will pop up, auto-filling the project name and contact information of your client. Just click on the blue ‘SEND’ button and it’s done! You can track your review request status on both the HomeStars for Pros App, and on your mobile.
