The temperature level to level in our house varies significantly. We have a 3 level plus a basement. To keep the bedrooms on the top floor cool our basement and main levels were freezing even with all the vents/dampers closed. Worse was one side of our house was not getting air and I suspected the main damper was closed on one side, but it was drywalled in when I bought the house. Victor came over to quote me and immediately confirmed for me my suspicion that one issue I had related to the main damper being closed on one side. Like all other houses in this area (6-10 year old builds) my ducts were also losing quite a bit of air to leaks. Victor and his crew arrived the day of the job on time and got right to work. They used a camera to locate the main damper and open it. Then they sealed the vents discovering in the process that main runs of my ducting were disconnected in the walls in two places. They rectified these issues and in the end I have a house where all four levels are pretty well balanced temperature wise. It is so much more comfortable, I wish we had done this when we moved in two years ago. Victor and his crew worked cleanly and efficiently and we're professional and polite throughout. Victor provided us with a report showing that we went from 42% air leakage to 0.6%. My air conditioning that used to run 24/7 on hot days now runs way less often.

Thank you Jason, your house had lots of small and big duct work issues and we had to go an extra mile to locate and fix all of that.
We were happy to do it all and glad you're happy with final results.
Cheers, Victor

After moving into our new house we needed window coverings for our main floor. It is an open space and there are many large windows (8), a sliding glass door and french doors that all needed to be addressed. Lyle provided a consultation and provided ideas we loved to deal with all the different types of windows in a cohesive way. We placed our order and all the coverings arrived within the 4-6 week window we were promised at the consultation. The installer who installed them was profesional, friendly and did not leave a trace that he was here when the job was done. We had one issue with one blind that was a manufacturing defect and it was dealt with by Signature Window Fashions promptly and in a very saitsfactory manner. It was a pleasure dealing with the company and we would use them again in the future without hesitation.

We bought a house with a renovated master bathroom that looked like a million dollars, but after a year of problem free use was basically useless as we had a toilet that would often take 20 minutes to fill and a shower that wouldn't work unless you turned the lever all the way to 'hot', basically rendering both useless. Michael came out and immediatley fixed the toliet by replacing the fill valve control. The toilet now fills quicker and faster than when it was new. The shower was a challenge as it needed the pressure valve replaced. Unfortunately, our shower fixtures are a proprietary brand of Rona's, which means no easy to obtain parts despite having a lifetime warranty (note to others: buy Delta, Moen or American Standard). Undeterred, Michael went to Rona and convinced them to let him scanvenge a new boxed fixture for the parts he needed. Despite having the parts, the repair was still not easy as the poor quality of the fixture made replacement of parts difficult. Michael however managed to get it back together and working, saving us the much more expensive and intrusive route of having to buy a new fixture and cut into the tiled shower wall to replace the one we have. The work was done cleanly, quickly and professionally. Also, their dispatcher is super friendly and bends over backwards to accomodate you. Nothing but praise for this company.

We wanted to add a stone patio area in our backyard off our deck so we could entertain more family this summer. In the quoting process we encountered the usual cast of characters: the companies that don't answer their phone or return calls, companies with low quotes and no references or other way of judging trustworthiness, companies with extravagant quotes, etc. Liam of good looking homes answered his phone when I called, made arrangements to come see the site expeditiously, and provided us with a reasonably priced and detailed quote. Further GLH's had an established reputation and through sites like Home Stars we were able to determine how satisfied their customers are. It was largely based on good reviews here that we decided to hire them, and we are glad we did. After hiring GLH's they started the job quickly, showed up on time, did the work properly and cleaned up after. With this type of project, issues do come up once you excavate, and we did encounter some issues with levelling the patio. Liam and his crew came up with a cost effective solution that kept us on budget and turned out a great looking patio. We have received several compliments on it already from neighbours. After putting in the patio, based on the changes we had made, we needed to re-sod the backyard. Liam helped us find someone to do it, and as an added bonus, negotiated a great price on our behalf. We are very happy with the results of our project and the service we received and would have no hesitation hiring GLH's again. Jason

Thanks so much for this in-depth review Jason. I am glad that you had positive experience both with us and using Homestars. It is unfortunate that a lot of companies don't promptly respond to emails and phone calls. Even though some unexpected leveling issues arose we were happy to work them out with you. The back yard looks even better after the sod work from Curbz Gardening. Thanks again for the great feedback, we appreciate all your comments.

Moved into my 100 year old house with the knowledge that the 3rd floor air flow was not great and I would probably need a ductless unit up there, was surprised when on moving day the less than one year old central air unit was making a high pitch whining sound and struggled to cool even the first floor. Cosmopolitan was the only company that actually answered its phone (two other well rated companies here never returned my call). They sent a technician out right away who diagnosed a pressure/coolant problem with my central air unit. They then arranged to have their installer Behyan come out to repair the central air unit and get the ductless unit installed. Behyan is super knowledgeable about HVAC and not only fixed my central air unit he gave me some great tips on how to get better efficiency from it by closing off a basement return that was too close to the furnace room. Behyan laid out a game plan for installing the ductless unit and had a great crew come in and execute the plan perfectly, including running electrical conduit up the outside of the house 3 floors. The install was very clean and they ran the pipes in a discreet location that is easy to bulkhead in. They used a very good quality LG unit. Since the repair and install my a/c is working great and every room in the house is comfortable even in 30+ humid heat.

I wouldn't hesitate to hire Mike and Anthony to take care of your audio/video installs. I found them on Homestars based on the positive reviews of others and I had a similar experience. They did a great job wall mounting my TV on an articulating mount, and managed to figure out a way to wall mount my rear speakers, keeping the wires hidden, and causing no visible damage in the process. Given that the main floor of my house is one huge open space and my basement is completely finished this seemed like it would be impossible. The whole install is very clean and looks great. On top of doing a great job, they are also really friendly guys. My wife and I chatted with them about various tv series and got some good recommendations on some new series to watch. Resourceful, knowledgeable, informative and friendly.
