I hurt myself by falling during the holiday season. I was in so much pain I couldn't lay flat. My friends were telling me a should be a bed chair. These are oversized pillows shaped like a chair and covered to look and feel like a couch. I looked absolutely everywhere for one of these things. After countless phone calls and outings to several big stores I ended up at the Surrey store. The sales people, although few, were so helpful. I tried to explain what I was looking for. Finally an older lady told me she remembered her mom having one when she was younger. And, they had not only one style but 30 or 40 of them. It was fantastic. I managed to find one that went with the decor and that night was one of more restful I had after several weeks of pain and sleeplessness. I have been back several times since as I found them friendly, well stocked with many many different things and competitive price wise. Great job!

When we bought our house we noticed that the garage concrete floor and driveway was listing to one side drastically. We called Todd over to see what could be done. He was at the site for approximately 1 hour advising as to what had to be completed to level the driveway. We ended not needing the complete job as the entire driveway and all along the house had to be pulled up and replaced because of a plugged sewer line but after the appraisal we would have definitely gone with him. Precise and knowledgeable.

When we purchased our home, as a first time buyer we were concerned about security. After research we discovered that Alarm Force was reasonable and were accommodating. They came right away and also installed our smoke detector. It has paid for itself over the last several years - sounding the alarm for a possible fire in the kitchen and when someone tried the back door. Thankfully nothing came of either but was reassured with the two way talk feature of the system. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.

We needed a new tv and it was suggested we try Open Box. The store is bare bones and I think they need more service people; however, regardless of time required before we got waited on, we received good service. The guy was pleasant although rushed and assisted with packing the large tv into our vehicle. The prices were excellent. My only concern was the fact that when we got it home and out of the box the backing of the remote was missing. When I called to get a replacement I was told there weren't any. But, nevertheless, the price more than outweighed the deficiencies in the service.

We are in the process of sorting through years of "junk" in the garage. Removal services are generally expensive. This young man is reasonable, hardworking and pleasant. We have recommended him to several of our neighbours. He always has a smile and works quickly.

I don't have anything but praise for Bill. He is a cheerful competent individual who is always willing to assist me with anything I need. We've purchased locks and keys for years from the company and will continue to do so. This last time I needed a lock I was directed to purchase what turned out to be very expensive. When I asked Bill about it he went through everything with me, ie. what was the lock going to be used for, where, etc. After about 15 minutes he decided that there could be a more cost appropriate solution. Then he gave me the pros and cons of either going with what was originally suggested and what he came up with. It was great - we had an option - which we eventually took and saved some money. Very very happy with his customer service and his great attitude!

We came into the kitchen and found ants running everywhere! We were troubled as we couldn't understand where they were coming from. We called Damien from Green Valley Pest Control. Very professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. Advised us that the problem was the door to the patio and our recycling bin. Placed ant traps at the door and advised us to get rid of the recycling more often. End result no more ants. I would have no problem recommending Damien to anyone. He also let us know that he guarantees his work and would come out at a moments notice. Very happy.

I can't say enough about the excellent service we received from M6. We were having problems with our old company and the cost was substantial considering the service we were getting. M6 came in, checked what they could provide and had everything up and running within 3 days. We received update security and cameras. The cost was substantially lower and as it turned out we were happy to have it. Just after we had the new equipment installed we had a problem with a brick/rock being thrown through the front window - their security system kicked in right away and I believe the fast response stopped the culprits from getting in any further than the broken window. I have nothing but praise for the professionals at M6.

I was looking for supplies to brighten up the spare room. I decided to paint an abstract but didn't have the right colours or a proper sized canvas. Went to the art supply store when we were visiting with friends. I was totally impressed with the huge selection of colours and canvas sizes. The clerk who waited on me was patient and helpful. Left very happy and the finished product is a welcome addition to the room.

When we moved into our house we had to change the baseboards as the original seemed to be folded and painted cardboard. We went to Windsor Plywood on their sales. It was great - because we needed so many feet the sales associates was a great help find good quality cheap molding. He also helped us secure it to the top of the car for our trip home.

The people running Public Storage at the New Westminster facility are friendly, always willing to assist and understanding. We had some of our personal belongings stored there (the one located on 14th) for several years. The rates were reasonable for the space we rented (10 X 10) - it was like a small bedroom. The space was clean, secure and rodent free. If we ever need extra storage again I wouldn't hesitate to use their facility again.

We needed about 30 showroom locks and decided to stop in at Accurate Locks in New Westminster, the closet near us. I found them dismissive. We walked in and stood at the counter for almost 15 min waiting for one of the 4 clerks in the store to ask us if we needed help. When someone finally came to assist us he seemed to be in a hurry. We told him what we wanted and if there was anyway we could possible get a lower price for a bulk purchase. After being told that it would take several days to obtain the number we needed and that he could only give us maybe a 5% discount, we didn't purchase and continued our search elsewhere. I find this company is priced higher than other lock outlets and the customer service is not up to par.

We heard, what we thought, were mice - and we found some damaged wires disabling our security cameras. Called Orkin - very professional and efficient. Came out within the day after we called. Turned out we had rats, not mice. The worker came and put around bait throughout the showroom and also patched up a few of the possible entry places. Thought the price was reasonable. So far we've found one deceased rodent and have had no further instances of scratching above or damaged electrical cords. Wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

The best place to get bargain carpet for a project is End of the Roll. When we were renovating the extra room for our son, a developed breezeway - we had to be cost efficient. The floor was basically cold concrete. We didn't have a lot of money after finishing the room itself so we went to End of the Roll. We also needed high traffic carpet. We settled on indoor-outdoor in a nice slate grey at a great price of .69/sq ft. They also provided underlay and we managed to completely carpet the room for under $250. Great place to find an unbeatable deal !

We had to buy a new mattress for our son - it had been a while and the mattress was getting really old. We wanted something that would suffice but not "break the bank". We ended up at Sleep Country - the salesman was very pleasant and asked us a lot of questions. We had our son try out several mattresses to find one that was both comfortable and reasonably priced. When we settled on the purchase we arranged for delivery. The next Monday they arrived with mattress in tow - covered completely in plastic which was good as it was raining. The workers put booties over their shoes not to dirty the floor and set up the new mattress in my son's bedroom. They also took the old one for disposal - which is great savings and time saver. Great experience. PS - they also provided my son with a "stuffed sheep". Loved it!

One morning we were leaving for work and noticed pooling water in our front lawn - when we looked, by the panel for access to the water mains there was a bubbling of water - quite a bit. I got on the internet looking for someone to deal with this problem. I found Tri-M on the search that had a promotion to get $25 off a first call for plumbing. I called them and when the guy came it took no time for him to access the problem. We were lucky it was close to the house as if the pipe was longer the cost would be substantially higher. The next thing I knew he had got in the front yard and had dug the trench in order to replace the pipe in less than an hour - very very hard working guy! Another 1 hour and the pipe had been replaced, leak stopped and he had even re-filled the trench. Couldn't have been happier and relieved.

When we are looking for parts we always go to Milani's Plumbing. More often then not they have the parts we require. They are fast and knowledgeable. If the person you're talking to doesn't know - they find someone who does. We looked everywhere for a replacement insert for the kitchen sink (the basket type) - it's an old type - which we had a horrible time finding because the bottom apparently is different than the newer ones now on the market. I thought the price was a bit much but after looking for ages I was thrilled that Milani's had the part (at any cost).

Do All has been around for years - we've always gone to them to either get parts needed or have any appliance repaired. The toaster is sort of a "thing" in our house. It belonged to my mother-in-law and it's just always been around. Most places I contacted when it stopped working advised me to spend the money and get a new toaster. I thought about it but we really just wanted to the toaster around a little longer. It is a four slice and at the time it was purchased it was "top of the line". I called Do All - no problem - checked it out, cleaned it and replaced the old "fabric cord". Works like new and it was cheaper than purchasing new. Everyone's happy with our "antique".

I do a lot of decorating of different rooms for our "events". We decided to have a retro party for the last birthday of someone turning 30. We wanted it special and it meant a lot of planning and I thought cost as I've gone to get fabric and trim in the past. When I discovered the Fabricland at the bottom of the hill on which I live I was thrilled. I walked in and was greeted with a sales person right away. Told her that I needed draping for a room and possibly some fabric for simple costuming. She was great and took me to the "remenent" area. Found some great pieces for the walls - at 69 cent per meter - what a deal. We managed to get enough fabric to cover the entire room plus enough to make hats for everyone. We really enjoyed the party and the decor was perfect! Can't wait for the next party :)

When we moved into our new home we realized one of the first things we would have to do is have the 30 foot plus cherry tree and pine tree trimmed. We called around and found that the going price for doing this is in the area of 1,000. This was just too much we were actually thinking of getting a chain saw and trying to do it ourselves until we saw a truck with Davey Tree Service on the side. We called them - they were great - 2 of them, each worked on one tree - for an extremely reasonable and affordable price. I don't know much about pruning but the trees look great and our growing just fine. The amount was more than fair for the terrific job they did.

One morning my mom called me in a panic, her knit shop had been broken into and she didn't know what to do. Vancouver Mobile Locksmith were the first I thought of (for emergency service). Called them and they arrived about the same time as the glass replacement people. They were efficient and fast - mom was able to open without skipping a beat. It was good because she didn't have to close for the day. Everything was finished at a reasonable cost before 9:30 opening.

We decided this year to augment our fresh veggies to save on the food budge for the family. A friend recommended I go out to Art Knapps. The clerks were really knowledgeable and helpful. This was the first time we had tried planting and didn't really know what to plant or even how to do it. the girl that helped us gave us a great plan and a really easy to take care of garden. I'm waiting in anticipation of our first head of lettuce and first cherry tomatoes - almost ready for the salad.

My Hubby and I were looking around for new cupboard knobs to brighten up the kitchen a bit and we happened to go into Lee Valley on Marine Drive. The selection was fantastic. There was everything you could imagine from inexpensive to upscale. Being as our house is more of a cottage we weren't looking to spend a huge amount. We found what I thought would be good but couldn't find the colour I wanted. The service where you pick up what you want was great. I wanted a different colour than what I had picked out and the clerk was more than happy to bring me some from the back - apparently they had some others that didn't happen to be on the floor at the time as they had just got a new shipment. I got the colour I wanted and the necessary number of the knobs - totally happy!

When we bought our house the first winter we decided we should have the furnace cleaned for the season. There was a coupon in the local paper which we called and claimed. The guy showed up with what I can only say "an attitude". He went down and took all of 5 min. with his CO meter. Told us the furnace was not cleanable, had to be replaced, leaking CO etc. We tried to show him our inspection from when we bought the house but he refused to look at it. My husband pointed out that he seemed to be pushing a button to get a reading rather than letting the machine check the CO output. We argued with him for several minutes. He seemed to want to push us into buying a new furnace with an estimate somewhere in the 7,000 range. Finally after about 30 minutes of this harassment I gave him the coupon which was to give us a cleaning and checkup for $99 and we said well you didn't clean anything - so could we get just the estimate charge. He said no, it wasn't his fault that he couldn't clean the furnace. We ended up paying 112.00 for essentially no work. Next day I called the company and complained and basically was told that the technician was correct and we should really get this furnace they were selling. I hung up and called BC Gas who do checks our furnaces. They came, no leaks and did a quick clean, for free. They did say that the furnace should eventually be replaced but was not necessary yet. I would never deal with Best Heating again.

One Sunday we came home from doing some pretty dirty work went into have shower - NO HOT WATER. Went down and found the entire floor covered in water. The water heater had sprung a leak. We called around and discovered that either the companies we called were outrageously priced, no acceptable heater in stock or were just unavailable. In desperation we called a place in Port Moody. They were fantastic and arrived within 4 hours, new water heater in tow. They arrived shortly after 5 with 2 workers who installed, tested and cleaned up within 3 hours. This was more than what I expected. As I had to go to work early the next morning - they were a life saver. They stayed until almost 9 in the evening making sure everything was a go. I would call them first if I ever had another problem with my water heater.

We have leafguard gutters on our house - we had no problems whatsoever until the storm last year. We went outside the morning after the windstorm and one of the branches on our cherry tree had broken and had taken out the back corner of the gutter system. This of course was after the 1 year warranty we had received with Leafguard; however, we decided to give them a call - to see what could be done. I was more than pleasently surprised when they said "no problem, we'll be right out". They came checked out the problem, advised me there would be no charge and they would return that afternoon with a replacement for the damaged area. No fuss, no concerns - great service - couldn't be happier with the company and the product!

We had a clogged bathroom sink - we tried unsuccessfully to unclog it - so I saw a deal online from Swarmjam for a voucher good towards plumbing. Because it only cost $30 or so for a voucher entitling me to $139 we went for it. The guy arrived promptly at the time requested ( so no waiting) this is great! He also advised me that there were set prices for different jobs and I wouldn't be surprised. He showed me the list of jobs with the indicated price. I also liked that aspect - I knew exactly how much I was going to pay and he also guaranteed the job. Before he went to work he put slippers over his boots (to protect my floor), put a huge mat down in the bathroom (so there would be no mess) and went to work. We live an old house and the plumbing is old style and difficult to assess and gain entrance. He didn't complain and told me no problem, he would work until it was unclogged. With different snakes and adapters after about 2 hours plus he finally had the sink running perfectly. NO fuss, no surprises and no mess. Best experience I've had with a plumber. I'm going to use them again if I ever need another plumbing job done.

We're having such a hard time finding something to put on our bare windows when we first moved into our new home. No one seemed to have time for us - we went all over. Finally we arrived at the Home Depot and talked to the nicest lady one evening. She was so helpful. We explained that we had a really tight budget and needed something to block out light as there were alot of windows in our house. We weren't rushed she patiently explained everything out to us - including how to install the blinds, which turned out to be very important! And, finally when we went to pick up the blinds we had ordered it was discovered they were not sized correctly (on one section). For her, no problem, on the phone right away and with her assistance she had that particular blind back to us by the end of the weekend. It was a thoroughly pleasant experience.!
