After discovering a backed up sink and leaving a message at another company (who never called back), I called Mr. Rooter and the friendly receptionist told me they could have someone come in half an hour. Sure enough, Aaron arrived in proper PPE 30 minutes later. He assessed the situation and gave me a quote which was more than I had hoped for but less than I had feared. He discreetly applied a 5% seniors discount that I didn’t even know about. It was a fixed quote, not an hourly charge which I appreciated since we wouldn’t know how much of a problem it was until well into the job. He was professional and informative throughout. Interestingly, they don’t guarantee their work when it involves a garbage disposal unit (otherwise they give a two-year warranty). It took about 1 ½ hours to complete the work. That makes it seem expensive on an hourly basis but it was nice that the problem could be resolved so quickly and there were no surprises on the invoice. Overall we’re happy with the speed and quality of the service.

This was the first maintenance since they installed new furnaces and a/c over a year ago. David called half an hour before arriving and was right on time. He was very thorough - was here over two hours. Answered my questions and told me how to save money by signing up for their monthly plan. Showed me how to do the maintenance I can, and what I shouldn't play with.

They arrived with a large crew - not sure how many but at least 6. They were doing everything at once - dethatching, aerating, fertilizing. There finished in about half an hour - kind of quick for a large yard. I was a bit suspicious that there was only a couple of bags of thatch for the whole front and back lawn, and very few soil plugs from aerating. A month later I could see where they had put fertilizer - there was a single loop around the yard that was deep green while the rest looked awful. I hand raked more thatch and got almost as much as they had done with their power tools. I don't understand why there's all these positive reviews. I threw my money away and won't be hiring them again.

When my patio door stopped being able to slide closed, it was hard to find anyone who could repair it. I was able to get the door off and have a look at the wheels, but it looked like at least one was broken and couldn't be attached to the door. A google search showed that Lock Surgeon could do so I called them. They told me they could send someone the next day; gave me a time window and told me it would cost $149 for the service call, and labour and parts on top of that. The next day I got a call from Kevin right at the start of the stated time period; told me he'd be here in about 20 minutes and he arrived right on time. He got the door apart with my help and took the wheels to his supplier, which was a fair distance away - telling me he was 90% sure he could get new ones. Over an hour later he called to say he got the part, that he had to do some other work and stop for coffee then he'd be back. We got the wheels on and it works fine now. He only charged for half an hour of his time (I was afraid he'd charge for the other business but he didn't). However the charges added up to a lot - the wheels were over $50 with their markup and he added a $25 charge for shop supplies - even though he used my silicone spray and broke my file. All in all, I got my door repaired in a decent time so I can't complain much. I didn't have much choice - it's an oversized door and would have cost at least ten times that amount. I needed it fixed before winter came and I got that. It was just a bit pricier than I had expected - otherwise, can't complain about the service.

Our two furnaces were getting old so we got 3 quotes on replacing furnaces, humidifiers, water tank and air conditioning last December. Brandie from Romaniuk gave a quote that was slightly lower than the other two, and he did a thorough job measuring the house and windows, looking at the existing ductwork, etc. HE spent an hour and a half; more than any other estimator. When one furnace died a few weeks later we called Brandie and he got Nolan and Drew to come a few days later. They spent two days installing everything. All three were very knowledgeable and personable, and always answered any questions we had. We were very happy with how things turned out. However, when the gas and electric inspectors came out, it failed both inspections. This meant calling them back, having to be available for their three return visits (plus one they missed) and the two repeat inspections. Not a big deal but an inconvenience. Still they did a good job and I felt confident that they got everything in good working order.
