Part of our Norway maple tree on our front yard fell to the ground during the ice storm in May 2023. The tree got split and was not safe any more. We got 3 quotes from the local tree service companies and the quote from Stittsville Tree Service was the best. Justin first came to check out the tree and gave me the reasonable quote (a nice guy to talk to!). The job was done the next day after we agreed to proceed. The team was extremely experienced & skillful. Our tree was big and they used the bucket truck with a crane since the tree was unsafe to climb. The team also did a great job cleaning up all wood and branches. I am super happy with the tree removal service.

After my research of tree service experts in Ottawa (thanks to HomeStars.com to facilitate my research), I finalized my top 3 companies to prune my 30-year-old Norway maple tree in the front lawn and another small tree on the side. Colin from Climbing Bear came to my house to look at the trees and told us what needed to be done. He gave us a very reasonable quote, and we decided to go ahead with Climbing Bear and booked the time for the job in the same week. Colin did an amazing job! Colin and his assistant also did a good clean-up job as well. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

We detected two missing shingles on our roof. I used Homestar to get a quote. Ivan was the first one to respond and gave me a quote within 5 minutes. He came to our house the next morning to replace the shingles using the leftover shingle stock we have. He checked our roof and made sure no other missing shingles on the roof. We also asked Ivan to add a screw to the shingle near the chimney. Great job and good humor too!

We used Capital Asphalt to spread new asphalt over our 16-year-old house's driveway about 12 years ago. (Our driveway sank quite a bit since building.) At that time, they also did the driveway of our two neighbor's houses, all done by hand without heavy machine. We were so happy that our driveway was leveled back to the garage floor. Today, we used Capital Asphalt again to fix our driveway. This time, they ripped out the old asphalt from our driveway, put new gravel, used roller to compact the gravel and paved with new asphalt, all done by heavy equipment. This time, they did 4 houses on our street including ours. It all started from our neighbor's house first, and then others followed suit. I want to say that they did an excellent job! They are a professional team full of experience. They know what they are doing. They show quality workmanship. A family business does mean something! I took few pictures (from my house through the window) while they did the paving job.

Our partner (project manager for the renovation) hired André and his team to help for the apartment renovation, which included old house hardwood floor refinishing, carpet installation on hallway, kitchen cabinet installation, bathroom faucet repair, installing missing ceramic on fireplace, etc. André and his team did a great job! Thank You.

Andrew used Google map to look at our house and gave us a price quote for the cleaning job. That is neat! He did a great job cleaning up our eaves and gutters! No more clogged downspouts. Andrew also installed the gutter strainers that we bought from Lowe. Thank you for the work!

Pierre Gauthier has been in business for many years. He installed our friends house 10 years ago (our friend has built a new house and installed their whole house with Brazilian red wood). After we bought the per-finished hardwood ourselves, we started to look for a contractor to install our hardwood for our family room and our study room (in May 2011). We called around and still didn't know who was the right one. We talked to our friend and they found Pierre's number for us. We called him up and he came to our house to check it out the next day. He told us that for the room size of our house, he can finish the job in 2 days time. He brought his son with him as his assistant. They finished the job on time and the installation was perfect! I would highly recommend him to any one. You will be a happy customer! His workmanship is top notch.

When a squirrel fell down from our chimney, I called many of the wildlife removal companies in Ottawa. The asking price was beyond our budget ($350 to $400). So, I gave up and hope that the animal (at that time didn't know what kind of animal was above our damper). After few days, the animal didn't go away. So, I started searching and found Grady's Wildlife Removal. I talked to John Grady and asked him about the cost. His quote was quite reasonable and he was at Carleton Place removing rats at that time. He came to my house around 3:30PM and went up to see if he can see what kind of animal. Unfortunately, he didn't see the animal. Because it was getting dark, he went up to the chimney to install a wired sheet on the chimney top first (so that no more animals can get in next time). He then open the damper and used a camera to check what kind of animals. We put the video in our PC and found that it was a grey squirrel (it looked like a rat). At the end, the squirrel was removed and taken away to somewhere farther. We were so happy! We would recommend John Grady for his honesty, his work and his good price! It is kind of crazy for other wildlife control companies to charge unreasonable price.

For the crazy wind that flattened the Bluesfest stage on July 17, 2011, a shingle on our house's roof was also blown off and few shingles were loosened because of the wind storm. Thanks to this site that I have found Michel of "The One" Roofing. I called him in the morning and he came to our house at 1:55PM to repair our roof. His service was top notch. He inspected our roof, replaced the missing shingle with the matching shingle (his truck is equipped with all the shingle stock), fixed up some other loosen shingles, added some needed caulking. I gave thumbs-up to his repair service. Highly recommended repair roofer for Stittsville, Kanata and Nepean areas. He is "the one" for your roof repair!
