Back about 2.5-3 years ago I called these guys because I had a mouse problem. Ryan and another guy came out but they were only interested in taking my money. Ryan went up in the attic seemingly to put bait in there but I do not believe he did. The other guy seemed lazy and very shady and all he did was put a bait box on the front porch...although I was told they would put bait boxes in a few places outside the house. I did not see any around the house. After they took my money and disappeared, it was hard to get a hold of Ryan and because the mouse problem got worse, I told him to come pick up the bait boxes which he finally did with a bashful attitude. I did not ask for my money back because they were shady and so I did not waste any more time with them. They seemed confidence tricksters to me. Watch out for their sly work, look carefully at what they do if you do hire them.

Shaun from JayTech is a wonderful gentleman. He came out last week to do a plumbing hook up for my washing machine. His work is very professional, neat and tidy; and above all, par excellence. He fixed a couple of toilets that needed fixing on two separate occasions in the past and no mess was left. He is one of the cleanest and tidiest guys I have come across, and very honest too. Check out the photo of the job he did, and the attention to detail. I think JayTech knows how to hire the right kind of plumbers. I am very lucky to have found them and wish the very best for them. People like this are a rare find these days. Thank you Shawn for a real grand job you did with the plumbing hook up for my washing machine and the attention to detail. Very professional indeed. Keep up the good work Shaun. You work is truly appreciated.

After deciding to purchase a water softener, I searched the web for a reliable sales outfit. Not wanting to deal with rentals or big business outfits with bad customer service, I decided to go with WaterSmart Systems & Plumbing. It was refreshing to read the positive online reviews. From start to finish, I had a very good experience; the purchase & install went very well. The guy who came to install the equipment was a hard-working, experienced individual who did the install with ease. They communicated well & so I knew exactly what to expect. This is a very respectful and reliable business outfit. I will also be calling on them shortly to get some plumbing repairs done on my home (I totally missed the fact they did plumbing work too until I heard their radio commercial a few days ago). Keep up the great work WaterSmart! You do business the way it should be - good and honest!

This is a very good, reliable company to do business with. My Realtor/friend suggested PODS for my moving & temporary storage needs as she said many of her clients use PODS. A co-worker also highly recommended PODS as she had used their services a few years ago & said they had absolutely no problems or issues with PODS. I am so glad I decided to give it a try. I had such a wonderful experience with my move; no issues or problems with PODS whatsoever. Invoice was clear & simple; they debited my account as invoiced. It's always a scary thing when you give your credit card info to anyone & hope they will not overcharge. Perfect process! Although their customer service was exceptional, the drivers, in my experience, were the best; they had a very kind voice & friendly speaking manner. It was also such a treat watching them manoeuvre the POD by remote control. Delivered & executed as promised. Thank you Mike (who I had the pleasure of meeting the first day) and Danny. You guys are awesome. Thank you for such a positive experience. I will always recommend PODS.

After carefully searching the web for a good plumber, I came across some great and positive reviews about Jaytech and so I called and set up an appointment. Mike and Travis arrived on time, they were very nice, courteous and good at their job. They had pride of workmanship. This is a family-owned business so they are careful about their professional reputation. I highly recommend them. You can be sure of a job well done and well priced too. They are two cool guys.

I called Chris on Friday to book a service call for my garage door & he came out the next day (along with another guy). Mainly I wanted to make sure the garage door was sealed properly as well as give it a good servicing. Chris also oiled the necessary areas of the garage door opener itself. They did a great job & did not overcharge for it either. After carefully reading the 10-star reviews on them, I was comfortable with trusting them with the job & when I met Chris he did come across as hardworking, knowledgeable & trustworthy. Thanks guys.

Joe from Cropley;s did a great job of checking my diswasher for a possible leak. He did a thorough check but found no leak; turns out the spray arm was stuck at some point during a wash cycle & that caused a little water to leak. Joe did spend some time to ensure there was no problem. I called Cropley's because of their honest reputation as recommended under Frank Cohn's (RenoMark) list of reliable repair companies. Thank you Joe.

Company Response

Thank you for your kind words.

Joe from Snap Pest Control found & fixed a nagging mouse entry point that another company could not fix even though I paid them a lot of money which now seems to be overkill going by some other great pest control companies I researched. After using a certain Pest Control company that charged me $3500 to inspect the external structure for rodent entry points & then plugging them up as well as fixing a squirrel entry point, plus $275 for double baiting the attic, baiting the garage & inside the house (even though I kept telling them no mice had ever entered the inside of the house & that they were only within the walls), I still had evidence of mice in the walls from the pungent odor coming from the bedroom above the attached garage & spreading to the adjacent room. After much pleading with that pest control co. they finally sent out a 27-year veteran of the industry who came, took a good look around & re-assured me that my house was totally sealed & that I had absolutely nothing to worry about but when I asked him why I was still smelling the rodents he said that it was from the mice that were already trapped inside & that they would eventually die off after a week or two after finding & eating the bait in the attic. I was almost convinced but not quite, having already lost confidence with this company; my worst fears were realized when a week after this inspector left I began to notice that pungent mouse odor (not dead ones but live ones); of course I could differentiate between a dead mouse odor & the stench of their nests but this company totally & conveniently disregarded this. So then began the process of contacting this company & pleading with them again & again but they in their minds were satisfied that they did a good job & thought I was imagining things even though I was suffering with these noxious pungent smells that was spreading from room to room. Their story kept changing - first it was 2-3 weeks, then it became 6 weeks, even though it's more than 6 weeks, then they said the mice will eventually find the bait. Their attitude was terrible in the sense that they were grilling me to see if I was imagining things even though they kept telling me that they believe me but in the next breath they kept asking me irrelevant questions like they did not believe me – total giveaway. I see a previous review which talked about the same issue they had with this company despite them providing proof of the mice droppings. They did not follow up on the bait stations inside the house & attic either - apparently they double-baited so no need for follow-up. What kind of company is that! They kept telling me about their 3-year warranty but what was the point if they could not even come right away while the problem was still ongoing, just soon after they supposedly sealed up the place! I don’t trust that warranty & I will never call them back - bye bye to my hard earned money. They caulked unnecessary places without fixing the real problem, except that it was easy for this company to show they did a lot of work! If they could not come & inspect & fix my nagging problem now, how will I ever expect them to come within the next 3 years? I think NOT! They quoted me almost $200 (per hole) to cut holes in the drywall & place bait & deodorizer but that's a temporary fix so I did not buy that. The conclusion: I finally found Joe Bruno from SNAP PEST CONTROL & after reading his 10-star reviews on HomeStars, I knew I had found the most honest & experienced guy so I called him & told him the story of my life & after spending a short time inspecting the external structure, he found the opening where mice were still entering – despite the so-called professional job by the other company. Joe did not even charge me for his work as he felt so bad that I had spent such a lot of money on the other company. I did not even have to plead with Joe about my story – he, being so professional, honest and an expert in the business, understood exactly what I explained to him and he set to work with his PIN-POINT investigative/detective skills. He has a knack for sniffing out those mice. I know now that my problem is solved because I trust Joe & I saw him in action. I will always call on Joe in the future to inspect my house annually. I will certainly spread the good news about his work. I have proof of his excellent work with the photos below which I intend to place on my review of the other sub-par pest control company.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Snap Pest uses the correct methods to identify pest entry points - they have a knack for it - so I am confident they are doing their best and also learning new things from each job they do and that in turn sharpens their already sharp skills.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Contact Snap Pest Control as they are extremely honest and expert in this field. They have an unusual knack for snooping out these pest entry points.

Company Response

Thanks for the lengthy review. I received the call last week while out with a colleague that owns another pest control company in Milton. Clearly upset my client proceeded to tell me her story and I was amazed, however; not entirely surprised in the least because I have encountered this shameful practice before. Mainly centred in the Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, and the Milton areas I would say there are 3-4 companies out there that are getting these huge dollar values on mice jobs. The attitude is profit driven at any cost and usually involves soffit caulking, insulation removal, baiting and long warranties and no on-going plan. The last time I encountered these guys was in Oakville where another elderly lady paid $3500 for a mouse job and still had the mice. The caulking job in this review was unnecessary because the soffits were tight enough except for the front area. Mice were entering via a gap in the garage door and scaling the wall to enter the bedroom above the garage. I was surprised they missed the opening because it was plain to see and made sense given where the smells were concentrated according to my client. There was no need for a squirrel door, and double baiting consisted of adding 8 more blocks which they charged $ 275 dollars. Also, no quarter inch mesh to the most vulnerable areas where wall meets foundation. Interestingly enough just last week I had a former employee of this company call me to inquire about a job and I when he told me where he last worked I told him I was not interested. I would have done the whole job for around $275 I did the job for free because I felt so bad for my client. I will check in on her periodically.

Chris W came out to do some diagnostic work on my duct work. He was very informative, took the necessary time & did a thorough check despite the frigid temp that day. Friendly & professional service done very well. I have read many good reviews about AtlasCare & I intend to contact them in future. I love the fact they have their own training facility & do not contract their work out.

Hired Halton Wildlife back in Dec 2014. Ryan and this other guy came to my place and Ryan seemed more interested in writing out an invoice and taking my money. They just put a couple of bait stations outside the house and apparently some bait in the attic. From what I could see, there was just one bait station in the front of the house and another just on one side of the house. I could not see if there was any bait in the attic but I do not think they put any in there. They are confidence tricksters - as they arrived for the first time, they laid out a whole lot of bait on the front doorstep but it dawned on me only much later when I saw that there were only two bait stations outside and I wondered where all the other bait was - they certainly could not have put it all in the attic. What they placed on the front doorstep was just for show. The other guy who actually put all the bait out for me to see is the one who acted suspiciously - he just went away somewhere and then came back about half hour later. The bait on the front doorstep was all gone.....so I guess the guy took it back while Ryan was seemingly placing bait in the attic. They seemed to have a plan worked out. Please do not let them in your home. They are absolutely useless and I suspect that the bait they used was old and perhaps that is why the mouse problem got worse. They do not have a good work ethic and are late for appointments and seem to have an excuse when they are supposed to show up for a check up on the bait stations. I had to ask Ryan to come and take his bait stations away and I had to hire someone else - so I ended up spending more money. These guys are not honest.

I’ve had the pleasure of doing business with Pre-Lock Security and I am a very satisfied customer. They are a company with much integrity, honest people who take their profession very seriously. I purchased the high security Mul T Lock Captive and Mul T Lock single deadbolts and I also had them install two door safe systems. Brian Gold took the time to explain their services and costs and then emailed me the quote, everything was done professionally and to my satisfaction. Before I called Pre-Lock, I had called some individual person to install some security bars and window bolts and this individual’s job was very unprofessional, fell far below my expectations, there was no invoice and he charged me more than what Pre-Lock invoiced me for purchase and install of a high security product. I have learned a valuable lesson from these experiences and since then I have only dealt with prestigious companies such as Pre-Lock Security. I will call on them again if ever I need their services.

I recently had my front door (original builders) replaced with a solid wood 2.25 inch slab Mahogany (raised panel) door from Amberwood Doors Inc., and what a fantastic experience that was! After taking a look at Amberwood Door’s website and going through their beautiful and unique door designs I decided to call them. Rick, one of Amberwood’s door experts, was the person I chatted with and explained exactly what I wanted and he was able to answer all my questions without any hesitation; moreover, his manner was very professional and sincere and he took great pride in what he did; he was very knowledgeable and I could tell he had some kind of formal schooling for this. I had so many questions and Rick was always very patient and happy that I was asking him pertinent questions. Rick explained that there are so many important factors that go into deciding the right entry door, ie: the appropriate type of wood based on exposure (how much sun), environment, overhang (all necessary to prolong the life of wood doors), door design which must be appropriate for the home’s overall design, etc.; these were all equations I had not the slightest idea about. After all the emails and telephone calls back and forth, I finally decided that I had the right professionals to do the job, so I had Rick email me the quote with the specs for me to go over; he then came over to take precise measurements and confirm all details we had previously discussed, and made many good recommendations too; here again, he did a very thorough job and by this time, I had great trust and confidence in his expertise; we then went over the door accessories and hardware finishes – they are beautiful. He then emailed me a scale drawing for review. After 4-5 weeks as promised, the door was delivered and installed by two very professional guys who did an amazing job; they also got rid of my old door, leaving absolutely no mess to clean up – they were that good! My new entry door lends such elegance, beauty and a touch of grandeur to my home now; it has a mortise lock and is very secure and soundproof too – the difference is very noticeable. No doubt, the value of the home has increased. Amberwood Doors is a first-class custom wood door manufacturer and from beginning to end, the job was carried out professionally and with much precision; the quality of their work is exceptional. These folk have such passion and pride in their craftsmanship and in what they sell. This was an experience to remember and I highly recommend Amberwood Doors and their knowledgeable door expert RICK.

BEWARE OF THIS FRAUDSTER. I complained to the BBB & was told that Rapid Rooter is blacklisted. I called Rapid Rooter to have a leaky bathroom fawcet fixed. The service guy came in, in about 5 minutes gave me an estimate of $550 to replace a cartridge (when all it took me later to have it fixed was a rubber seal). I was aghast & told him that this was a not right. He then told me that he would give me a seniors discount of $50 or $100 (can't remember). He seemed thoroughly inept and moreover rather suspicious & unfortunately I did not keep an eye on him). I told him no thanks. These people are not proper repair people, just there to come in and make a quick buck out of the service charge. Easy way to make money! I had to fork out $110.00 for absolutely nothing. BEWARE OF THEM, DO NOT LET THEM IN.
