Our home inspector totally missed the hole in the roof above our bathroom window. He also missed the fact that we had 3 layers of tar + 1 layer of cedar shingles on the roof! Unfortunately the cost of fixing 100 years of cutting corners fell on us. Being downtown, a lot of the quotes placed a big premium on the extra effort needed to properly dispose of waste and prevent harm to neighbouring properties. The guys from Ruff roofing were easy to talk to during the estimate phase and were forthright about the challenges of the job, but their price didn't reflect the premium that other crews did. They were open to changes in the quoted work and didn't pick on details in order to negotiate a higher price. Scott and Craig know their stuff and since they are also doing the work, nothing got forgotten and I am comfortable that the work is up to the standard they assured me it would be. The other guys on the crew were respectful of our property, polite and accommodating - and did a good job of cleaning up a considerable amount of waste.
