THERE ARE MANY APPLIANCE REPAIR BUSINESSES OUT THERE. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T USE THIS ONE! Unknowledgeable, rude, and will charge you for a service call without repairing your appliance. Back Story: I called Whirlpool about my refrigerator not cooling (Freezer section cold but Refrigerator section) as it was still under warranty and a "technician" named Daniel showed up at my home from Home Appliance Care Inc. From the second he came into my home he had a bad attitude. He first refused to even look at my refrigerator because it was unplugged. Being a licensed Appliance Technician myself, I knew this was not the case. I explained to him that he could check multiple different components of the refrigerator even though it was not at temp and he aggressively proceeded to take the refrigerator apart. Being in the trade, I arrive at many service calls after unlicensed "Appliance Technicians", who had scheduled a refrigeration service call with no knowledge of how to properly test or repair a refrigerator. These guy's walk into people's homes, poke around the refrigerator for a few minutes, and then tell the customer that the refrigerator has a leak and need's to be replaced. They collect their money and leave. Unfortunately most people do replace the appliance, wasting money and time, when in reality the diagnosis was incorrect and all that was needed was a part. So after he took the back panel in the freezer off, he told me that the defrost element was fine, without even removing the element and checking for continuity with a continuity meter. This is impossible but I just agreed as I knew this guy did not know what he was doing. He put the panel back on and tried to leave saying "let it run and once it reaches temperature, call Whirlpool back and book another appointment". Seeing that I had already lost a refrigerator worth of food and needed a refrigerator, this was not acceptable to me. He then told me that it may be a leak in the system and he needs the refrigerator at temp to check that. At that point I knew this guy's game and that he was wasting my time. I explained to him that if it was a leak, it can be tested with a refrigerant gas leak detector but this guy had no intentions of doing that or didn't have the tool to do so. I then explained to him that there was a drainage problem with the refrigerator when in defrost and not a refrigerant leak because the freezer was cooling properly. The problem was ice building up in the vents that allow the cold air in the freezer section to be blown down into the refrigerator section. This causes the freezer section to be cold but not the refrigerator section. He grunted in annoyance and proceeded to vacuum out the drain tube. Finally! Now we are getting somewhere! He vacuumed out the tube for 2 minutes, got up, and left. No goodbye, no test to make sure the drain tube was indeed cleared, nothing. Now, 3 weeks later, the ice has built up again and I have lost another refrigerator worth of food. I called them back directly on a Saturday and they scheduled a return service call for the following Monday. I took the day off of work and at 9:00 AM on Monday I receive a call from Home Appliance Care Inc. The lady tells me that they were mistaken and will not be coming. I will need to call Whirlpool to schedule an appointment. So I call Whirlpool immediately to schedule the appointment. They put me on hold for a few minutes and when they return, they tell me that Home Appliance Care Inc. is refusing to return. WONDER WHY! I wouldn't send an imposter to someone's house who can call their every bluff either. So now I have to wait for another technician from a different company. C'est la vie. I guess I'll just spend the day away from work writing negative reviews about this company so people know not to waste their precious time and hard earned money on this company.

Company Response

The appliance was under full warranty, therefore the customer was not charged anything and did not pay us anything either.
We are refrigeration licensed, factory trained and authorized for Whirlpool and many other brands as well. The technician that went to this customer has over 27 years experience and performs sealed system repairs on many different makes. In fact, we are often called upon to go out after other companies since they do not do refrigeration or cannot repair the product.
This refrigerator had evidence of being unplugged for quite some time when the technician arrived at the house therefore was unable to perform a proper diagnostic. However upon testing it was determined that it was running properly at the time and consequently the customer was advised to let it run and to contact Whirlpool directly if any further problems arose as this is Whirlpool’s procedure.
The office is closed after hours and therefore the person that booked the call had no access to the history on this unit. Had that been available, the client would have been directed to Whirlpool Customer Service.
It is unfortunate that bad or good reviews are not researched before being allowed to be posted as it plays unfairly on all parties involved.
