Fred came to my home in an emergency to fix my old LG fridge. He was candid about the quality of appliances currently being produced and recommended I hang on to my fridge as long as possible. He was able to fix the problem quickly and for a reasonable cost. Fred also gave us buying advice and insider information for future purchases for another property. I would highly recommend AC/DC Appliances Service.

My husband and I bought a cottage several years ago and Marc was instrumental in assuring us that we were buying the right property. He spent several hours reviewing the property, inside and out, including the septic system. He and his assistant answered numerous questions and were very helpful. Marc provided us with a thorough written report....money well spent. From that experience, we hired Marc a second time to inspect a triplex that we purchased....again we were very pleased with Marc's thoroughness and advice. We would definitely hire him again and recommend him highly.

Assisting us with drafting architectural plans for a building permit application for our triplex. Is knowledgeable about Ontario Building Code regulations, specifically related to rental units. Dennis has good ideas and is happy to make suggestions to save time and money. Dennis answered all our preliminary questions and was accommodating with a payment schedule. Would recommend Dennis and his assistant Lisa to anyone planning a renovation.

Initially we hired another contractor to build a 2 car garage and the project turned a disaster filled with numerous deficiencies and legalities. It was a nightmare. Domenic Arcuri (B.Eng, C.E.T.), owner of A-frame, and his team came to our RESCUE! They understood the needs/requirements of the project and provided us with a detailed written contract which included the details of the job, timeline for completion, costs/payment schedule, etc. A-frame partially demolished the newly built structure and performed remedial work to comply to OBC and our engineer's structural requirements. The A-frame team is honest, conscientious and professional.....and we're grateful to Domenic, Principal of A-frame and Joseph, A-frame's foreman on our project. Joseph went over and above our expectations and was proactive in giving us a professional finish to the structure which repaired the poor workmanship of our initial contractor. We did not ask that this work be done, but were thrilled to see that Joseph on his own took the initiative to give us the best garage possible. Domenic was in constant contact with us practically every day of the project and post project managed some issues we had with our garage door installer. He's been instrumental in giving us the garage we expected and is continuing to support us. In future, we wouldn't hesitate to hire A-frame....a fantastic contractor.....a pleasure to work with!

I hired Jim in 1998 after purchasing my home. He rewired the entire house and only made toonie sized holes. He and his crew were great to work with. Project was completed on time and on budget. In 2005 we did a full gut and reno of our home. We hired Jim replace all the telephone and cable wiring. Again, his workmanship and attention to detail were impeccable. I've had a lot of bad experiences dealing with contractors, but with Jim, there are no worries. He is simply the best electrician and most ethical business person in town. I would recommend Jim and JTL & Sons without hesitation.

Came highly recommended, but was a total disaster. This company could not read architectural drawings. Miscommunicated cost of project. Sloppy workmanship.....never used a level, everywhere they used caulking has cracked within 1 year. Recommended substandard products. Used incompetent trades. Left the job unfinished. Had to re-do tiling at my own expense. Terrible hardwood floor installation...1/8" gaps between floor boards...can see nails! Window left open during rain storm...flooded bedroom and ruined hardwood damaged ceiling beneath....wouldn't take any responsibility to repair damage even though it was his tradesperson who left window open. Crooked walls/ceilings. Poor drywall finishing. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!

What could this company do to improve their services?
Stop making excuses! Do it right the first time, saving money and aggravation for all involved. Take a customer service course. Learn to communicate.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Know your project details. Have all product details finalized and ordered prior to beginning reno. Know the municipal building codes that apply to your reno, get a permit and make your building inspector your best friend. If you see something your contractor is doing that doesn't sit well in your gut...go with that gut instinct until you're satisfied that the job is being done correctly. Hire an independent project consultant/manager to make sure things are being done correctly.

Hire to do full gutting, interior renovation and underpin basement in summer/fall 2004. The undermined the foundation of my house by cleaving off the brick footings and caused other structural damage. I had to hire structural and geotechnical engineers to confirm the many structural defects due to the extremely poor workmanship Group 5 provided. Group 5 came highly recommended but when they worked with me they convinced me that didn't need a building permit. I was lucky that the City of Toronto building inspectors were sympathetic to my situation and did not fine me for not having a permit. Had to fire Group 5 as they would not take any responsibility for problems they caused. I wanted to resolve our disputes via mediation but they refused to take responsibility for the defective work. Lost thousands of dollars and peace of mind over this renovation.
