Deciding to finish your basement is a big decision that should not be taken lightly. We live in an older home that has limited space so adding a second bathroom and some much-needed additional living space was something we wanted to do for a while. Our biggest questions were probably the same as anyone who is reading this: how much is this going to cost us? Will the work be high quality? and will the basement be finished on time? With regards to question 1 the price was exactly what was quoted. The reason for this is because Matt and Ben made two visits to our house to discuss what we wanted, any potential issues that might arise and exactly what it would cost us so we knew what each step would entail and exactly what we were paying for. The quality of work was exceptional. That this company guarantees their work with a 5-year warranty speaks to the level of confidence they have in their tradespeople. It also cannot be understated how well these guys know City of Calgary building code and it was a huge convenience to not have to be present when inspections were being done, as that would have meant taking time off work. While some contractors and homeowners may not feel that permits and inspections are important, I can tell you that we have peace of mind knowing that each element of our basement was constructed properly and more importantly safely. The project was finished within days of the agreed finish date. As the project neared the end Basement Builders doubled their effort to get it done on time, which was much appreciated. Basement Builders care about the service they provide. They legitimately want you to be happy with your investment and they make the process as hassle free as it can be. I truly believe that without this kind of detailed knowledge of building code etc. the process would not go nearly as smoothly as it did. My wife and I discovered some mould in our attic and called a few companies to come and check it out. MSZ were prompt and very thorough. Not only did they provide a reasonable estimate but they spent a significant amount of time analyzing our house to find possible sources of mould. They also made sure that the old insulation contained no asbestos before they even started which put our minds at ease. They provided a list of recommendations to prevent mould growth in areas where there currently is none. The work was completed in good time, the work environment was impeccable and JR even returned to ensure all the work was complete. The estimate was itemized and accurate. I would recommend them again for sure.
