Derek is a master at kitchen design and install. I researched and shopped around a long time. I decided on Sibra Kitchens because the quality of the cabinets offered and the service provided by Derek, far exceeded what I had previously sourced, for the price. Two years after completion of my kitchen, I had a realtor evaluate my home. She was more than impressed with the workmanship and stated that multi-million dollar homes do not have my quality kitchen. Install is as important as the product, and Derek's attention to detail, elevates the product.

We discovered mold in our attic when we wanted to update our insulation. The first company we called in, a highly recommended group, scared the heck out of us. First off, we were told that that it was really bad up there, that we were risking our health because the mold would start coming through our ceilings. We were advised that the mold would eat through our roof joists and cause structural issues. But to top it all off, they couldn't get their equipment up in our attic and they advised we would either have to remove and replace our roof or pull down all the ceilings inside to remedy the problem. We were worried and upset and did not want either solution understandably! We called in a second opinion and got a whole different story. Don't worry about it, we were told. Just improve the circulation. Given the extreme divergence of these two companies, we called in a third company. Not sure were he came in with his recommendation because he flip flopped between dire and "it's fine" but his quote was nearly double the other two. Finally, I returned to homestar and found Ross from MoldServices.ca. He and Kay ( she took our first call) were clarity in the midst of our caotic week. Given our distress, Ross came out the same day to take a look. As he is also a court expert in mold cases, he reviewed our attic with frankness and a level head. He was neither dire, nor non-chalant. He was very clear on the true nature of the issue and the solution. No, we did not have to replace our roof, and no, while we had to get rid of the mold, it wasn't horrible. The guys just came by today and they were great. They were very carful to wrap our furniture and drap the floors before beginning the work. The acid solution they used worked quicker than they had hoped, so the job did not take as long. They were also hired to open up our soffets to improve circulation, but were totally honest when they could not do the job and discounted that portion of the work. Overall MoldServices is responsive, level-headed and most importantly truthful. They are providing us with a letter certifying the attic is now mold free so our contractors can feel confident when doing our reno for us. Do yourself a favor, if you have a mold issue, big or small, call Ross. He won't play games with you.

Hi Judy, thank you very much for the work and the great review. We try to take the fear out of Mold through education, it lets the customer make an informed decision rather than one based on fear. It worked on you.....Cheers....Ross

My 1 year old dropped a small toy down the toilet. She tried to tell her daddy but he misunderstood and he flushed. Water came spilling up. Since my husband was unable to clear the block, we called Mr. Rooter. They tried to clear the block first from the top but had to take the toilet out and try to clear from the back. No luck, the toy was stuck and would not break. The toilet had to be replaced. Mr. Rooter replaced our toilet with a better one, one with a wider tunnel to avoid toy blockages in the future. They were very clean, friendly and efficient. They did their best to keep the cost down, but when the toy has you beat, you just need to replace.

We called in Victorious after our general contractor said he couldn't work with our original carpet installers (personality conflict). Mark was a little tempermental and ridgid in his ways (conflicted with our designer), but he certainly knows what he is doing and likes to do things his way because it results in quality work. Once the guys came in, they were quick and careful. I would have liked it if they would have removed the rest of the unused materials though. After two years, we have no issues with the carpet install, no threads loose or edges coming up. Mark may be very opinionated and moody, but he was very competant.

Company Response

Hi Steven, Hi Judy.
Thank you for your review and time. Yes, the installation was done almost 2 years ago (October 5th 2009). Unfortunately your basement project was quite complicated since I had to deal with you, your contractor and your designer to coordinate things as requested. On my first initial job site inspection I had clearly listed step by step what needs to be improved prior the carpet installation. I had to take control after seeing that things were not done at your benefits. My argument was with your designer and your designer’s contractor to protect your overall benefits and refusing to do the job as they want it to be done. The result has and will continue to meet your quality expectations with our life time labour warranty. Please feel free to contact me at anytime if you have any questions or concerns in regards to our services. Best Regards,
