This company gave us the lowest quote for the job that needed to be done in our yard. We chose this company based on the reasonableness in price. They did our yard as we asked wonderfully. It looks so much better than it was before and they completed the job within 3days. Ben was courteous and professional, always on time or early to work. I would highly recommend this company!

We had our clothing and soft items taken away by them and dry cleaned. At the start, it was a horrible experience to see your house with fire damage. We didn't realize the process of what was going to happen to our things. CRDN came a few hours after the fire and acted quickly. They took all the items, labelled them, and handled them with care. The only thing I would suggest to the company employees is to inform the residents of the home what would happen to the clothes from the start and not after they had taken them away. If they had told me all the clothes will be taken away within 24hrs so go run into the home and get ALL the stuff you need for the next few months, I wouldn't be frustrated and irritated after the fact. We only grabbed three days of clothes and therefore had to purchase much of our wardrobe in the intermediary while the house is being restored. They were considerate to grab additional clothing that thought we might need and process them stat, but I would have preferred to choose the clothes myself because many of the ones they picked didn't fit myself and family members.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Better inform the clients the process of the fire & water damage restoration. ie) "This is what is going to happen, so do this before everything gets taken away."
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Grab a suitcase and fill it with a few weeks of clothes you think you'll need.

My wife and I each purchased a condo unit that was built by Statesman in 2000. The North side of the complex started to mold and rot. After an independent engineering firm was called to do an assessment, they determined that serious deficiencies in the initial construction of the building were present, including improperly installed stucco, a perforated building envelope, inadequate drainage and an improperly installed roof. The condo board of directors issued several special assessments against the owners, with numerous projects to completely remediate the initial deficiencies. The Board attempted to contact Statesman to see if they would be willing to assist in the remediation effort, but Statesmen offered an insignificant offer in the tens of thousands of dollars, when the final re-construction cost was well into the millions. The board of directors filed a lawsuit against Statesmen - but to this date, we don't know the outcome. We sold our units and moved away, and vowed NEVER to purchase any project built by Statesmen.

$30,000.00

Company Response

Amber from Calgary;

Please accept our apologies for not responding to this comment earlier. We did not have a profile on this site, and have just recently been made aware of HomeStars.

Statesman Group is very concerned to hear about your disappointment, and would like to ensure that your concerns are properly addressed.

A quick note about the issue expressed. The development you have mentioned certainly did have an issue which resulted in moisture entering into the structure. As you noted, the condo board did have an engineering firm do an assessment. Unfortunately, their assessment was only able to list a number of possible causes of the issue (including stucco installation, perforated envelop, etc), and could not clearly identify the actual issue.

To better understand the problem, Statesman Group brought in another firm, which was based out of the Seattle, Washington area, to gather their greater expertise in building envelopes and water penetration. After extensive study, it was determined that the problem was actually an issue with the manufacturing of the window product. There was a part of the internal framing of the windows which allowed water to seep into the window structure, and then be wicked out into the surrounding structure. Through collaboration with our window provider, Statesman replaced approximately 80 windows, as well as repaired any damage that may have occurred as a result…all at no cost to the home-owners. To this date, there have been no further issues regarding moisture penetration.

As you noted, the Condo board had initially filed a lawsuit, but this was simply done out of diligence on their part to ensure that it was filed within the required timeframe. The Board and Statesman worked closely to get the problem resolved to everyones satisfaction, all proceedings were ended, and we continue to have a strong and positive relationship with the Board. Statesman takes great pride in building a quality product, and fostering an enduring relationship with our home-owners and our partners.

We are sincerely sorry that you were involved in the early stages of this issue as we worked to understand and resolve the problem. Should you like to receive further clarification, we invite you to reach out to us by calling 403.256.4151, or contact us by email at jeff.mann@statesmangroup.com

Thank you!!

We got our furnace, hot water tank, and humidifier replaced with ARPI's two years ago. The pipe for the exhaust is leaking and the second carbon monoxide detector stopped working. They wanted to charge us for coming out to look at it and replacing the detector, when it was still under warranty. Originally they said we would have a 5year warranty. This company is terrible, their staff is lazy, unprofessional, and did the bare minimum! I am very disappointed that they did not meet their warranty commitment. I would not recommend this furnace company.
