I will breakdown this review in two parts. the initial call and the actual visit to my house. I had initially booked for Duct + Carpet + Tile cleaning but only ended up doing Duct and Carpet as there were painters working at the same time that they were here. Date of Visit: April 27 9:00 to noon Home Size: 1980 sq ft Carpeted surfaces: 3 bed rooms , hallway by bedrooms, 3 flights of stairs and playroom Initial Call - As a new home owner, my wife and I wanted to have the carpet and ducts cleaned prior to moving to our not so new (8 year old) house in Markham. I had called multiple companies prior to Green and Spotless and most of the time, the people I spoke to were not interested in explaining the process in detail. Alec on the other hand, spent AT LEAST 20 minutes on the phone with me explaining how they clean the ducts and carpets. I called him a week later to book his services (April 27 8:30-9:30) and he confirmed the appointment right away via text and via email (which ended up in my junk mail). Visit / Work Done - Alec and his partner Carlos (aka Carlito) arrived on time. We went through the house and they started setting up their equipment. Alec and Carlos were both very patient with my questions. Both of them also noted that my house was NEVER duct cleanedand even showed me wood shavings in the returns. Alec even installed the new vent covers for me. For the carpet cleaning, "dry" vacuum was done first then the "wet" vacuum was next. Alec had promised me that the carpet would dry out in 6-8 hours, and he wasn't kidding! the playroom was dry in 3 hours and rest by the evening. They also provided us with extra shoe covers so that the painters would not soil the newly cleaned carpet. (Carlos "wanted" $5 for them - obviously a joke). I actually shared with them that we had hired another carpet cleaning company for my moms house 4 years ago, and my room was WET for 4 DAYS. I usually haggle HARD when it comes to trades people but I did NOT with these guys. The work they do is indeed value for money. Not only do they do a great job, but they are also fun to talk to. Of course I expect a bigger discount next time and for my moms house which is significantly bigger than mine :) I will definitely call Alec back to do our tiles once we have settled. VERDICT: My house felt fresher and cleaner after they had cleaned both the carpet and ducts.

we used to deal with another company (turf rain), until i found out we were being ripped off. opening / closing was $90 per way, and heads were $40 each. i know its probably my fault for not doing my research but when i found out the replacements were inferior to what we had, i decided that i was done with them decided to contact eric. we booked eric and he arrived a little early which we appreciated. upon opening each zone, he would adjust each head since the current settings made the water spill over to the other zone and/or the street. turf rain never bothered to adjust this but eric did. any question i asked whether dumb or not (in terms of sprinklers) were explained thoroughly. eric only uses rainbird sprinkler heads, which is a better brand. price wise, it was definitely cheaper than the $40 i was being charged by turf rain. he changed 3 of our sprinkler heads after our system was serviced by eric, i decided to prepay the closing of our system. as for turf rain, they called last week, and we informed them that we are not using their services anymore.

Open Sesame is composed of Steve (the owner) and one full time guy who I didnt get to meet. When our garage door spring broke last wednesday, we decided to go with Steve based on the reviews we read here. Upon talking to him, he asked us questions on what the issue was and gave us an estimate over the phone. When Steve saw the old spring, he immediately told me that it should be replaced with a bigger/thicker type that will hold up longer. his truck is complete with all tools and materials needed for the job. He does everything on site, unlike the bigger companies that would have someone measure the spring, leave, come back, and install - which saved us a lot of time. He also replaced the pulley cables - free of charge. Im the type of guy who would like to ask a lot of questions regarding the job, and he answered each and every one of them. I also appreciated that way he explained each step of the job (installing the new cables, tightening the spring). He even checked both my garage door openers and lubricated the metal track. It was like attending garage door 101. He was scheduled to come at 11am, but he arrived at 10:45. Not only was he prompt, but he was very courteous and professional. More importantly. you could book him for Saturday! I called the other companies listed here, and they would only go to my house on weekdays. There were clients who would call, and he would give advice on how to troubleshoot them - free of charge. Where could you find this these days??
