I purchased a three-hole bathroom sink faucet displayed in store. The item was out of stock and had to be ordered in. Plans changed so I returned to the store to exchange it for the single hole model only to be informed that a minimum 25% restocking fee would be charged. I was not aware that getting the item from the supplier means it's a special order. Tubs should return it to their stock room or at least inform the customer of the consequences should any returns or exchanges be necessary. It's a large enough company to ensure customer satisfaction, or have a relationship with its supplier that permits exchanging one product for another without penalizing the customer.
