I have been doing a lot of home renovations to get my home to be my dream home and this was one of the last renos needing to be done. Hearing all the horror stories in the news makes it really nerve racking to get the right company for the job. I came to Homestars to read reviews and there's a lot of companies to choose from. One thing that stood out to me about Goldwood Stairs is they got the award for 2014 so that won me over that if they got an award 3 years ago and are still around it must say a lot about their company. I emailed about 10 companies on homestars and I got some outrageous quotes for what I wanted to get done that there is no way I would've entertained those quotes. Not a single company even wanted to come out to give a free estimate. Out of all the companies I called I didn't get through to a live person I got all answering machines so for this reno it seems you have to email pictures to give them an idea and some companies were much more prompt to reply to emails than voice mails. Goldwood replied with a quote that was in my budget and realistically what I was wanting to spend. I was very happy because this was the company that had originally won me over from all the great review. The owner himself came promptly when he said he would do an in home estimate as well where I assumed the price would be increased from the quote to suck every extra penny they could get but in actual fact they stayed true to the quote which I was really impressed and relieved. I also did some reading on google reviews and people said that they had a hard time booking an appointment but for me it was really easy and the owner himself came to give the in home estimate and he was very prompt on the dot he said 1pm and he was there exactly 1pm. Their English may not be the best but communication was very he because he understood everything I said. I was very shocked that the email quote and in person quote where the same and it sounded too good to be true compared to the other companies I contacted that I decided to them them my basement stairs as well to do. So we agreed on the price and I was so happy because the basement stairs and main stairs together came up to cheaper than the other companies for the main stairs alone. When it came to installation day they came the day they said they would. They started at 10:30 am they said one day for the main stairs and one day for the basement stairs. I originally had carpet on both stairs. They should up with all the threads and risers they look like unpainted / raw finished stairs. I was a little nervous because I thought they would've had these things stained prior to showing up. I was wondering if something got lost in communication and I got worried that oh no this is going to turn out to a whole weeks project. 2 workers showed up by the way for the job and I asked them why the stairs hadn't been stained prior to showing up. The gentleman was nice and said they would stain them all and then install them. This worked out in my favor because they got to mix the stain right in front of me and my wife and when they showed her the color the stain was going to be my wife was soooooo happy because they did a perfect job matching the color of the hardwood floor exact right away me and my wife knew we got our money's worth and more. The owner has said he could match the floor 95% but he did 100% I think he said that just incase but his company did an exact match. While one worker was pulling out the carpet and preparing the stairs the other gentleman was staining the threads and risers. The work was very prompt. The whole time the workers were polite and courteous. Never once did I feel like the workers were slacking or didn’t want to be here. Never once did I feel like I’m just another paycheck to them. I honestly felt like they were giving me a job that they would be proud to have in their homes as well. I observed sometimes where they workers would fit the step and they were looking at It and they could’ve passed it off and no one would notice but they took it back and trimmed it some more till they got perfection. Me and my wife are more than happy with the job we got done we honestly can’t believe this is our home. It feels like a model home now. The company’s workman ship is perfection and more than what me and my wife could’ve ever asked for. The workers were prompt, polite and their turnaround time was incredible. I would recommend this company to anyone, family and friends!

So if you ask anyone they will tell you I am a bit paranoid about getting renovations done. There are so many fly by nights out there! people taking your deposit and not coming back or simply just not doing good jobs. I recently moved into a home that needed mostly outside work done. I had a few things done and they stressed the heck out of me to the point that when I decided to do my front walk way I only wanted someone reputable coming to do the job. I called several companies to send give me a quote but almost none of them showed up or their prices were too high and I wasn't getting a good feeling about them! Their customer service just wasn't there and that's a deal breaker for me because if something goes wrong during the job or even after it’s a hassling getting them to listen or even come back! Just as I gave up hope Danny from Synergy contracting came. This was actually the first company I called and from the reviews I read this was the company I was interested to go with but due to their scheduling or me not being available for the quote, we finally got to meet up to discuss the job. I will admit Danny kept in touch with me every single day explaining that he had many quotes to give but he would be coming and I was so surprised that not a day went by that he didn't keep me posted. I felt like I was already being treated like a VIP customer and they didn't even have the job yet! I explained to Danny what I wanted and he listened to everything me and my wife had to say. He offered some solutions and I could tell he was paying a lot of attention to what I was wanting because he looked like he was mapping everything out in his head and really doing his best to plan the best job for me. This really impressed me because other companies I called just measured the area gave a quote and they were gone in a minute or 2. Danny on the other hand actually sat down with me and showed me pictures of jobs his company did and explained to me they would do a bit of this and a bit of that and I was shocked that someone would spend this much time and not even know that they would be getting the job or not. His customer service is what really won me over! I feel like he’s the mascot of his company and he reflects so well on them. It immediately felt like a friendship in the making so I gave them the job! I could definitely see myself working with this company. The price they quoted was extremely reasonable and I felt I was getting so much more compared to other companies. Danny told me when the company would come to start the dig out and they were very prompt with their time frame. There were no issues with the dig out everything went very smoothly. The staff that came to do the dig out were polite and friendly. Shortly after the bricks were dropped off to start the job. I would like to point out that I did have to give a deposit and some money was required once the dig out was completed “which is only fair” and the final payment they didn’t want till they had my approval on a complete job! “WOW!” On the day of the job the actual laying of the bricks everything went so well. I was really impressed by the quality of work I was getting. I kept repeating to my wife over and over that we picked the right company and we are getting more bang for our buck than we would’ve gotten with anyone else and she agreed. I was so surprised that the job went exactly as envisioned in the design. There were a couple suggestions that the installation team offered that they felt would make the job turn out better and both times I asked them “how much extra is that going to cost?” and they said “nothing” I was surprised they were willing to do extra work or suggest better plans and want no extra money. I felt that this company is about making the customer very satisfied and they are more focused on leaving a very good job for all the neighbours to be jealous about so they can get more business. They definitely did just that! People were driving in the street and slowing down and admiring the job this company did. The job was done and they cleaned up washed everything no mess was left behind! I could’ve removed their interlocking sign that has their phone number and have the place looking completely polished but I want to leave it up because this company deserves to get referrals after everything they did for me!” I am very happy and this company is highly recommended! If you are planning on getting work done please ask for Danny. By the way Luis was my installer he did such an amazing job that I had to tip him! No good deed shall go unrewarded! In my opinion so If you get Luis as your install get that tip jar ready! He’s a great guy and he knows what he’s doing! Sorry about the long review guys but I can’t stop saying enough good / positive things about this company they really exceeded my expectations and my wife’s and my neighbours and my families…and the list goes on and on!
