Have happily used mini move 3 times in past, 4th time was an absolute disaster. On setting up the appointment I explained that we were moving out of a three story walkup and suggested that they send three movers, and that we had two pieces of larger furniture that would need an extra hand. The 2 man crew arrived late complaining about the stairs, they had no notes on file regarding the request for a third man. There were fewer than 10 boxes as we had moved most of those ourselves and only the furniture to move. There is no other word to describe the movers other than lazy, I had to help them taking 90% of the smaller items (including dining room chairs and and easy chairs) down to the lobby myself so they only had to load them out of the lobby not directly from upstairs. They failed to wrap any of our chairs or mattresses, the mattresses were quite dirty and marked along the sides when delivered to the new apartment. My computer armoire was damaged with several scratches and two deep gouges on the front doors. I had to take off the apartment door (without any help at all from the movers) in order to get the sofa out the door. Once they had it out the door it took them more than half an hour to take it down the stairs, in the process dropping it three times. The last time it was dropped they actually manage to jam the arm into the wall, leaving a hole (at least 6" in diameter) right through the drywall as well as ripping the fabric of the sofa. The wooden detail on the front of the couch was very scratched from one end to the other and one of the curlicues was left with a deep gouge out of it. At the end of the day the movers were packed up their stuff and walked away from the new apartment. We were in the suite unpacking at the time, they actually drove off leaving the back door to the building open. I immediately called the mini move office and told them about the damage and the hole in the wall. They said it was up to the driver to fix the hole so they called him and made him come back. When the movers returned to the old building to fix the hole in the wall they arrived with a piece of mesh, a bucket of plaster and no trowel...they used a piece of cardboard they found in the alley to try to make the repair. Needless to say the repair did not stick. On contact the company I again was told it was up to the movers to fix any damages. After several times trying unsuccessfully to get things resolved I hired a handyman out of my own pocket ($160) to properly mend the hole so I could receive my damage deposit back. As I said earlier, in the past I have used mini move with no problems and have recommended them in the past but I will most definitely never use them nor recommend them again.
