We have used Toronto Clear View previously for installation of gutter filters at two houses previously. This time we had some eaves troughs that got disconnected during high winds and some downspouts that needed rerouting. Toronto Clear View gave us a reasonable estimate for the work the same day we contacted then and then came out quickly after being contacted (2-3 days later) and did all the repairs. Their service was fast and friendly and I would definitely use them again.

We contacted Direct Chimney to do a small job which was a bit non-standard. We had an old furnace exhaust pipe that we wanted removed from our house. This included masonry work to patch the hole in the foundation, roof patching for the chimney hole and soffit work to close up that hole. We contacted several chimney companies most which turned the job down or said they would do part of the work. Direct Chimney (Ali) said the whole job was no problem and quoted us a very reasonable price. He was very quick responding to email and clear with his communication. The job itself was a one day job and the whole crew was very friendly and neat with their work. They even went to the trouble of patching some other cracks in our foundation and brick work which they noticed while doing the initial job. I wouldn't hesitate to call Direct Chimney again for future work.

Pros - installation was done well, but they contract that out so it's the luck of the draw who you get Cons - sales experience was awful, wouldn't leave our house, very annoying - scheduling was non existent, they showed up to install with no notice - unit didn't come with winter cover and they never offered to include or sell us one (this is a required component IMHO for a non-square oddly shaped air conditioner) We were recommended to Cosmopolitan Mechanical Services by a friend who had work done by them. We called them to have them install an Air Conditioner in our house. Their sales associate who was sent to our house was awful. He talked and talked and talked about everything under the sun. He even got onto Religion and health and wasted 2 hours of our time. The price was reasonable but it wasn't by any means the lowest. He claimed that the use on-staff installers but I have since found out that this is not true. Despite that we decided to purchase from them anyway due to our recommendation from a friend. They then said they would call to arrange an install date in the next week. Two days later they show up with no notice to install the A/C unit. We were on our way to work and had to turn the installers away. They rescheduled for later in the week. The installation went well and the installers were very polite and considerate. But the A/C unit didn't come with cover and we were never offered one. The Lennox unit is odd shaped and normal after market covers don't fit properly meaning we had to buy one and cut it to fit. If I had to do this over again I would use another company. Our friend steered us wrong with he referral and has since apologized.

Pros: - communication with Art, Alex and Martin was very smooth - flexible with requirements/changes in design/material - able to handle highly complex - experienced enough to handle just about anything - knowledgeable in every area of pools and landscaping - very good at providing options and advice in difficult situations - family run business (Art, Alex and Martin Simpatico) with direct contact Cons: - they don't write a lot of stuff down so sometimes will ask the same question twice - could be more proactive with communication, sometimes call last minute for decisions but paired with their flexibility for customer changes I had no issue with this Summary: ----------- Art, Alex and Martin and every one of their guys were a pleasure to deal with. They were friendly and courteous and respected the decision making authority of both husband and wife (this can be a rare thing, even still today). Art's sales visit was very friendly and honest. Alex did the digging, prep and install and he and his crew were friendly, skilled and professional. Our job wasn't easy in any way (difficult access, sloped yard requiring retaining wall, complicated install with existing cement pool removal), but Alex and crew took it all in stride. One of his crew, Dax (sp?) mentioned that it was "fun" that it was so out of the ordinary. We definitely threw them a curve ball but they hit it out of the park. Leisure Pools was recommended to us as an installer of fiberglass pools by a fiberglass pool dealer. We contacted them and other installers of fiberglass pools. The price Art quoted us was a reasonable quote given the other quotes we got. Our backyard had a previously filled in 30 year old cement pool ... the super solid kind. When we told this to the companies quoting us one said "no way, you remove that pool first then I will install" and the other sounded like they would do it but it would be a huge deal and probably cost a ton. Art for Leisure Pools made it seem like it was no big deal, a hassle sure, but just somewhat more work. Naturally we were skeptical but he seemed like he was being honest. Before digging they had to build a retaining wall in order to level our yard. The wall is very solid and looks fantastic, we have had many compliments from neighbours. When Alex came to dig he ran into the cement pool pretty early and despite having to remove much of the existing pool came through on his original timeline. The installation was performed very smoothly with a huge crane lifting the pool over our house. The finishing landscaping touches were carried out with the same attention to detail and flexibility of all the other parts of the job. They were very friendly with and accommodating of our small children which was a big plus especially from a safety perspective. I would not hesitate to recommend Leisure Pools to anyone friend or family.

So it's 7 years since our last eavestrough cleaning and gutter filter install and we have moved to a new house. So naturally we emailed Toronto Clear View to have the same service performed on our new house. Same result, super prompt estimate, service and fantastic communication all via email. Not only did they perform the cleaning and installation but they made some minor repairs to our eavestroughs as well.

We had Insta-Insulation come and upgrade our attic insulation. The price that they quoted was very competitive and was exactly what was billed after the job was done. They were extremely clean and even vacuumed up after they were finished.

What could this company do to improve their services?

We had some furnace problems in the fall where we needed the igniter replaced and the motherboard had been acting up and sometimes the blower would not turn on. We called Cosmopolitan Mechanical Services and they sent out Khalil to our house. He was very nice and quick with his repair. The furnace was older and the motherboard required a complete rewiring to be compatible with the furnace and Khalil did a great job (being an electrical engineer I'm quite picky about wiring jobs). I would definitely recommend them to anyone with HVAC issues.

Quality workmanship, reasonable prices and great customer service. We went to the Toronto Clearview website and got an estimate for gutter cleaning and were able to order the gutter cleaning estimate from their website. They honoured the online estimate and did a great job. So we hired them to install gutter filters to avoid future cleaning. There were some repairs that had to be made which we were going to do ourselves but their price for repairing the eavestroughs was quite reasonable so we hired them for that as well. The job they did on the repairs and the gutter filter installation was excellent. Every time I called Brian he was very personable and helpful. I would highly recommend this company.

Last week we had all the windows in our house (11 including a large bay window) and doors (2) replaced by Consumer's Choice. I am writing to comment on the sales and installation. The installers were very friendly and personable. They did an excellent job installing our windows and exhibited the utmost care when removing the old windows which proved to be quite a bit more difficult than expected. They went above and beyond to provide us with quality service, staying on-site 14 hours one day to ensure proper installation of the bay window and even returning on the weekend to complete the finishing touches. The job they did was precise and clean and I have nothing but praise for the installation team. We were initially aprehensive about Consumers Choice after our dealings with the sales representative who seemed a bit pushy for our taste. However, he did convince us to modify our original window choices and his recommendations proved to be an improvement to what we had planned including the upgrade to the bay window with which we could not be happier. The windows and doors look fantastic and we are very happy with the quality and craftsmanship of the product that Consumer's Choice provided. The new windows and doors have a huge impact on the look and feel of our house. Consumer's Choice has been highly recommended to our friends and family.
