We had an old plaster and lathe ceiling (6x10) on the top landing of our stairs which needed to come down completely and be dry walled. This was a very messy job, as not only was it the plaster and lathe, but also blown insulation. Nearing the end of some major renovations and 37 weeks pregnant (major deadline!), I was thrilled when I heard back from Kangro within minutes of my inquiry, and had Rebecca come out and give an estimate later that same day. They were even able to squeeze us in the following week. Bevan, Rebecca and Ryan were all a pleasure to have in our home and were realistic about what needed to be done about getting the job done right. From the first phone call with 416-SO-CLEAN, we were very happy with the quality of service. They were very accommodating in picking up our area rug, and working around renovations to complete the remainder of the work. I was a bit skeptical that they would be able to get some major stains out of both our 7 year old sofa, and our stairs which had some laytex paint on them, but thought it was worth a shot as they are otherwise in very good shape. Matthew arrived early on the day of the job, and exceeded our expectations. Our sofa looks brand new, and he was able to get 5 year old ink stains out! It was some of the best money we have ever spent. I thought we would be replacing our sofa in a few months and this would just be to remove some reno dust until we were ready, but now I am confident we can get a few more years out of it. The stairs are amazing too. He was able to remove most paint (which I didn't think was even a possibility). Thanks so much to Matthew and everyone at 416-So-Clean for a job well done. Eric and the splash painting team were an absolute pleasure to have in our home. From the time we called Eric for a quote, to when the job was completed he was professional and kind with a great sense of humor. We hired Eric to paint the house we moved into last year and had just completed renovations on. We had some major drywall repairs to be done, and Eric was with us all the way through, and came back for repeat visits quickly and with no complaints. He even touched up paint that other contractors scuffed after he had already completed the work on. I was 37 weeks pregnant when Eric did the job (so I must say I am a bit picky, and on quite a deadline) , and he did it quickly, cleanly and with great care. We are thrilled with the job he did transforming our home, and will certainly have him and his crew back next time we need some painting done. After ripping out layers of flooring during renovations, it was getting hard to maneuver through our garage because of all of the garbage we had accumulated (approx two pick-up trucks full). I called Des one morning based on the homestar reviews. Des returned my voicemail within the hour, and said he was in the area and could stop by to give us an estimate. Des showed up minutes later, provided an amazing quote and all of the garbage was gone within the hour. What a relief it was to have all of the garbage gone, and SO quickly (in under two hours since my initial inquiry). Des is a very friendly guy, and if and when we have more stuff to get rid of, we will give him a call. We have done the transfer station route, and have found that using Des is by far the most economic and practical solution. I will recommend him to family and friends without hesitation. Thanks Des!

I phoned GTA Wildlife removal after having a mouse scamper across our floor one evening. A bit terrified of mice I decided to check homestars to see who the experts are on removal. I phoned GTA, and they were more than helpful. They indicated that if I saw only one mouse and had not seen any evidence of droppings, or getting into things (which I did not) it might just be the one mouse that somehow got into our house. After further inspection, I think the mouse may have come in on a ladder. I appreciated that this company was honest, and did not try to oversell or scare me into purchasing their services, but still gave me their expertise. Since then we have had no more evidence of mice... but if we do, they will certainly be the first ones we call. Thank you for your kind help.

After moving into a new home we found the toilets that came with the house would sometimes not flush, and sometimes they would. Puzzled we called Mr Rooter. Someone came out to our house and he looked at our toilets and said that it was most likely that they were fist generation low-flow, and recommended replacing toilets. He was very friendly and helpful, and was very personable. He provided us with their prices for new toilets & installation, and also gave us some tips should we decide to purchase and install them ourselves. Mr. Rooter does not charge for a diagnosis, only if they actually fix something. We were very pleased with this service, and would have them back again.

I contacted Canadian Indoor Solutions last month because we were noticing a 'funny' smell in the house we had recently moved into. We had, had the ducts cleaned, plumbers had visited and we were in fact thinking about selling. Very frusturating. We wondered if perhaps it might be something wrong with the heater. Dennis was more than helpful on the phone, and offered to come out and take a look free of charge as he wasn't sure if he would find anything. He ended up finding a pipe that was leaking methane gas, extremely close to our heater (so dangerous!). I immediately went out and bought a VERY strong cap for it, and since then we have not had a smell. I thought it was very kind of him to come out and do some detective work and even take a look at a vent that needs repair. We highly recommend this company, and will certainly use in the future and will recommend to friends and family. Thanks so much!!!

The day after we moved into our new home, we noticed the fridge that came with the house was not keeping food cold- at all. In moving in panic we found Joe on homestars and gave him a call. Although he was leaving the next day on vacation he managed to squeeze us in and came and fixed our refrigerator. He was timely, friendly, curious, knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend Joe to anyone who's appliance is on the fritz. Fingers crossed we won't have a problem in the near future, but if we do, I know who to call. Thanks Joe!

Paul went above and beyond when he came to clean our ducts today. We just recently moved into a 100 year old home, and knew it was time to have our ducts cleaned due to a 'funny smell' and allergies. We found Paul on homestars, and are certainly glad we did. He has fair and competitive prices, and did far more work than clean our ducts. Upon inspection he saw that some of the vents needed fixing as they had not been properly secured, he spent a great deal of time (at no additional cost) repairing them. He also took time to clean up after himself, was careful about the paint when removing vents, and even changed the filter in our humidifier and furnace. He took time to explain the process to me, and show me problem areas. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly (even to our little grumpy dog).
