I had to move my fridge to another location in my kitchen, however the only reasonable spot had a vent. I called Acclaimed and booked and appointment for them to take a look. My initial request was to move the vent over (which would mean having to put another hole in the tile. I was given that option, however they stated that I could also put the vent under the cabinet instead and close off the original one which would cost less and not break any tiles. I had never even thought of this option and was delighted. They came by on the date the booked, and charged the quoted amount. No hassle at all. I really enjoyed using Acclaimed's services and will reuse them again in the future.

I believe the cost was around $500. I hired Champion Concrete a year ago to expand my basement suite's bedroom window to meet egress requirements. They arrived on time, kept to their schedule and costs, and were a delight to deal with - even the crewman was nice to look at, lol. I would definitely reuse this company if I require any other concrete services. Thanks guys!

I bought a house a few years back and the basement suite did no comply with city bylaws. The suite was grandfathered in, however there a few deficiencies which required fixing such as hardwiring smoke detectors, drywalling in the furnace room, installing doors to separate units, moving the electrical panel, etc.. Out of ignorance, I asked the city inspector for a list of reputable renovators and picked from the list Robinson Outfitting. This was my first home renovation in which I hired a contractor so I did not know much about costs, labour, material. Wayne come by and provided an initial estimate which I thought was decent, however they kept increasing the costs after, and I found out from a contracting friend that I was way over charged. They did a terrible mud/tape job in the furnace room, left holes all over my house (and refused to fill them in), and used old materials on the doors - actual old trim from a previous job. Also, I provided Wayne a Schlage door lock (expensive), and he called to say he broke it and tried to replace it with a Weiser (cheap). I think the only work done well was the electrical panel. I sat Wayne down and advised him of all the things I was unhappy about and he just shrugged it off. Since my tenant was moving in in the next few days I had to pay the remaining amount for him to finish the work. My contractor friend later told me that he would have quoted around $4,500 for this job. So I was overcharged nearly $2,500. This was my worst experience with a contractor, and I will now always use Homestars to review my contractor before even calling.

My hot water tank at my rental was leaking so I went on the HomeStars website and picked Harmcor Plumbing from their reviews and ratings. I called in the morning and they came by later that afternoon. The technician identified the problem but advised that due to the age of the hot water tank (15 years), it was advisable to replace it. He also advised that if he attempted to fix the leak, it could cause larger problems due to the age. I agreed and he replaced it that same day. I was not expecting it to be such a fast process.
