We had some issues but they were rectified. The most important part of any project is a solid foundation to build on. The most important part of any stucco work should be the water/vapor barrier. If there are hole or gaps that wood sheathing is visible, then you no longer have a barrier that should perform the way it is designed. If you were to google stucco failures, majority of the failures are from the layers below the finish coat. Actual finish coat failures are always a result of poor applications below the surface where moisture buildup can occur from condensation etc. The homeowner should not be responsible to to correct the applicators poor workmanship or instruct them how to apply the product properly. It is scary to see that there are individuals out there that have been in the business for decades doing it wrong. Stucco should be a licensed profession just as Plumbing, framing and electrical. I ask how can you have been applying Stucco for decades and never understand the concept of why a waterproofing/vapor is important? I do hope that someday they also include exterior sheathing of homes into the inspectors job description..ie, checking the waterproofing membrane is applied properly.
