I first met Kris when he removed all the evidence of the old the popcorn ceiling in my previous house. He was persistent, but after several layers of "mud" managed to make the ceiling smooth. Very impressive! He was professional and did a fantastic job. As well as painting, he does staining and offers colour advice. He works harder than most people I know and takes pride in his work. I would wait for him to be available rather than hire another painter. I highly recommend him.

I would hire Gord again for any electrical work in my house. He did the wiring for a new basement bathroom and for a third floor renovation. For the third floor renovation he added a light switch at the base of the stairs which made all the difference in going up the stairs safely. I appreciated his input when making decisions about where to put light switches and why. For the basement reno, he put a light in a bathroom closet, which again made all the difference in finding things in that closet. His company name is indeed appropriate.

Harry and his workers did the whole installation job in 2 days with little fuss or mess. My basement bathroom is long and narrow and I had some trouble finding the right size fixtures. Harry was great to work with and helped with the decisions of were to put toilet and sink to maximize the space. I would definitely hire him again.

Walter Francis built a front entryway closet for me. He finished it, painted it and installed the interior shelves. Walter is professional, courteous and meticulous. His work is of high quality and it is obvious that he takes a great deal of pride in high quality workmanship. I would not hesitate to hire Walter for any home renovation project.

Ian and Joe of Homeworks Reno are professional, honest and hardworking. They did a fantastic job in finishing my basement. They pay attention to detail and are meticulous when finishing. Also, they listen to CBC radio while they work, which is a bonus for me as I like CBC. I would highly recommend them for any renovation project.

Paul and Daniel saved me from disaster! I was in the middle of a basement reno project gone horribly wrong, and had just fired the first contractor when I met Paul. He had received rave reviews on his underpinning work at the home of a colleague of mine. Paul invited me to see the underpinning projects on which he was currently working and took the time to talk to me extensively about my project. He was ethical, hard-working and a genuinely nice guy. Daniel joined the business shortly after Paul started my project and they became the dynamic duo. They were able to correct the problems created by the previous contractor and then continued on to finish the whole project. The underpinning and structural work that they do is first class. They are great guys who know how to problem solve and have the patience and diligence to do the job right. They also have extensive experience with landscaping and have done a fantastic job of rebuilding my front yard. I have tremendous respect and admiration for them and give them the highest recommendation.

Ken Davis provided excellent, professional service and mediated in a difficult situation with an unscrupulous contractor. He came to my rescue when the basement lowering and underpinning by my contractor did not pass inspection by the City of Toronto building inspector. He was able to mediate with the subcontractor to get the job done properly. His professional demeanor and calm approach to the problems of old houses was reassuring. I would highly recommend him to consult about a renovation project BEFORE you start any project requiring structural work. I have consulted him several times over the past 8 months and will continue to ask for his valuable advice. He is reliable, trustworthy, and honest. For your most important investment, he is the sort of professional you want.

Dmitry saved my house ! My former contractor (since fired) had left my house in a mess after a basement lowering that failed to pass inspection. I had a flood of ground water (6 to 10 cm) that was requiring daily pumping. Dmitry came in and fixed the problem. He did exterior waterproofing, interior weeping tile and installed a sump pump. The basement is now dry. His work is excellent and his price reasonable. I plan to have him and his team come back in the summer to finish the plumbing and drains. He is reliable and trustworthy, and I felt very comfortable having him in my house. I highly recommend him.

John Oliveira passed himself off as a licensed general contractor, although now 10 weeks into the project he has yet to actually produce any of the licensing and insurance documents which I requested. The basement project involved digging out the existing floor, adding a new room under the front porch, underpinning the foundation, and building out the final new suite. The digging and foundation underpinning was completed at the end of August and at that time I discovered that no inspections had been done, which according to the building inspector, must be done at various stages. Not surprisingly, it did not pass inspection. Additionally, the plumbing, which they added for a new bathroom, was never inspected nor did they get a permit for it. They had refused to let me see the underpinning drawings. I had to go to City Hall myself and get a copy of the drawings so that they could be on site when the building inspector came. John had the arrogance to tell me that the building inspector who came was not qualified to do the inspection. I was told by the inspector that I have to get a professional structural engineer to come in now and review the underpinning and write a report. They used substandard materials, did not follow the drawings submitted to the City of Toronto and were in blatant violation of workplace safety standards. This man was very aggressive in demanding payments (I have paid him $30.000.00 to date), reluctant to admit mistakes, and threatening when confronted with all this. NEVER, EVER GET INVOLVED WITH THIS MAN. DO NOT HIRE HIM.
