I have used Dereks tree service for many years and recently had them come out to scale back a monstrous Linden tree in my backyard. There are many tree services around, but there is no need to try out another. From their first visit here (well over a decade ago ) to the most recent, the quality of work , fair pricing, exceptional customer service and all around reliability has never changed. In this day and age, its not always easy to find all of those qualities in one business. Mike came out to give me an estimate shortly after I contacted Dereks. He is a very personable guy : super easy to talk to and very tree knowledgeable. We discussed options for slimming down the tree. Cutting it in half may kill it , so I chose to thin it out sideways. On the day of the job, he and Austin arrived on time and launched right in. I was pretty much in awe of how agile Austin was on that ladder . He made perfectly clean cuts right at the joint and seemed to suss out overall tree balance ( for aesthetics) as he went along. I can see Derek has taught his son well ! There were an awful lot of branches etc to cart off when done, but that too was dealt with quickly and neatly. Thank you Dereks tree service - I cant wait to see light again in the backyard. Good luck in the rest of your season .

Thomas Rawlinson, of Rawlinson Carpentry, and his talented assistant Tom, have created many projects for me over the years. From a porch- over to a deck to a pergola, their work is always solid , gorgeous and reasonably priced ( even with todays lumber prices!). Recently, I had a new fence built in the backyard to replace a 35 year old wobbly sad-sack chain link .I literally looked out my window around day 3 and it was almost up! How fast is that? Next, Tom built a custom gate with flashy black hardware and had it hung in 1 - 2 hours. His excellent craftsmanship, focus and hard work ethic combine to make him such a proficient worker . ( and work area always cleaned after which is much appreciated). Now I have a solid, level and beautifully tiered and balanced fence. Thomas and Tom are a great team and super nice to have around. ( so patient with all my questions!). Thankyou Tom, Thomas and Rawlinson Carpentry for completing the transformation of my property. Good luck on all your projects this season.

I am belatedly writing this review- even tho its been over a year since my roofing job. But, excellent service and workmanship deserve to be acknowledged - especially in these difficult times. I heard of Jose and “BSerra and Sons Roofing through a good friend. He told me that the company was quick to respond to queries , the quality of their work was excellent and that the pricing was honest. Sure enough, all 3 proved to be true. I was being bombarded with aged and knarled shingle bits slmost everytime i walked up the driveway. The roof on my small home ( a steep pitch by the way- not easy to shingle) was toast. So Joses crew came in very soon and stripped off old roof-and instslled new IKO shingles as well as numerous other items eg: new vents, ice and water shield etc- There were even shingles left over which he offered to apply to my dilapidated shed roof - wow- that was super nice ! So jose, thanks sgain- and am happy I finally got around to writing this.

I needed 5 items moved from a downtown home up to North York. Most movers balked at the small size of this job. So I scoured homestars and found CargoCabbie. I emailed off the estimate form and got a fast response. seriously? who does that these days. Next, I spoke to Stephen who answered all queries etc... price sounded fair..but main thing was the fact I could call and always get someone...or a voicemail would be returned fast. So job booked...and move itself went off without a hitch. Jack and George arrived on time.. efficiently wrapped and moved stuff ( no scraped walls etc)..were friendly.. nimble ...and worked very hard. The van itself was clean and organized. Thankyou Cargo Cabbie for making this experience easier than I ever thought it would be.

The concrete porch at the front of my house had become a real eyesore and a safety hazard : gaping cracks, holes etc. I wanted a wooden replacement and found Thomas on Homestars. He and his apprentice Tom came out on the weekend and we discussed options. I was impressed with his knowledge, creative suggestions, lovely portfolio and honesty ( eg: pricing). Next, he sent a detailed estimate and I saw no reason to receive another as his seemed very reasonable. So, I booked a date. The plan was to first remove/ haul the stairs and repair the rest. Next, would be built : a slightly larger porch over ( 7' X 9' 3" ) , enclosed stairs , skirting all around and a retaining "tie" to the road. When the project commenced, Thomas and Tom always arrived on time, worked tirelessly, kept the work site tidy and even threw in some "freebies" along the way ( eg : I love the pie-shaped ledge !). Now I have a solid, level and stunning porch that has not only enhanced the curb appeal but is so inviting that I am on the hunt for some more outdoor furniture. ( I had never sat out there before...too "cold" /cramped). Thanks to Thomas and Tom for rejuvenating my home with this wonderful new addition. I hope to retain them both for some more work here in the Fall. ( P.S. My dog Sammi misses all of their attention !) their "pats " as well ! )

Thanks Darren and Laura for coordinating my eaves replacement so seamlessly. ( no pun intended!) I was very impressed with North Shore right from that first contact. You are so well organized and efficient . My estimate was fair and clearly explained and i appreciated the folio with eaves sample and insurance deets etc. The job itself was on schedule ..( even the trailer was neatly decked out.. organized and tidy !). The installers Erick and Nick were not only knowledgeable but super down to earth and friendly. Most importantly, if theres such a thing as a beautiful eaves, they built it. As an artist, my eye can be picky. But these guys nailed it! ( speaking about nails... all were magnetically picked up after and not a speck of mess left behind). So from start to finish, its pretty easy to see that this company takes great pride in their work and its the customer who reaps the benefits. Thanks!

Hi Chris, I like the idea that our eaves installations process works seamlessly. We try our best to apply our expertise and skill to each project so that homeowners get what they request for the price they expect with no big surprises. Occasionally, we have delays beyond our control but we try to explain these to our customers and they are usually understanding. Thank you!
