We bought a ceiling fan for our great room / main floor from Royal Lighting as we didn't want to support the American based big box stores of the world and wanted something a little nicer. We understood it would also cost a little more. We had our GC who has done a lot of work for us instal it. There was an issue upon installation that the blades / rotor wouldn't turn. It just made his grinding sound when switched on. It seemed seized. Our GC assured us it wasn't his installation that was the issue, there must be something wrong with the fan. So expecting the worst I called RL. At first I was told by a sales associate I would need to take it down and bring it in. I said that wasn't happening as we just paid to have it installed. She put us on to Alex the store operations manager (I believe was his title). He took our information and on the same day / afternoon drove across rush hour clogged town to our home to have a look personally. The same day. Upon arrival he quickly discovered upon taking it somewhat apart that our usually competent GC had left the shipping blocks in the fan which the instructions said to remove and that was preventing it from spinning. Alex was polite and gracious the whole time and even took a few minutes to do a little maintenance on another floor lamp from RL that had become wobbly over time since he was here. To RL and in closing all I can say is you have an absolutely terrific team member in Alex that does your business proud and you have earned even more of our business in the future as it's money well spent.

I have waited over a month to calm down in order to try to write a fair and objective review of our experience with this company after having spoken with others who have windows installed by other companies and their outcomes. Here it is. We were referred by a friend who had Visage do some work for him and said they were pretty good. My wife selected them as she most liked their style of windows. They were NOT the cheapest quote we received which was fine - you often get what you pay for and this was an important long lasting project/decision. Based on the times provided we picked a delivery/ install date three weeks away. The Good The windows installed - but not made by Visage - look nice, and so far seem to be doing their job as far as heat transfer/retention goes as we have had a cold front move in and they’re not leaking cold air/drafty like previous windows. Ask me again in 10 years. The Bad Morning of install booking nobody showed up at stated start time (8:30am). Called Dimitry the salesperson at 9am. He looked into it immediately. ‘Job somehow didn't get on the production schedule’. He wanted to reschedule install to next day that called for rain/did rain and we had plans for. I said no let's do it today as we have the weather for it, it’s still early, we have the day booked off from work and have prepared the house for the construction. When nobody was still here by 12pm I contacted him and said let's just do what we can today and you can return next week to finish. I don’t want guys still in my house at 8pm tonight nor do I want the job rushed. He said no it's okay we are almost there and it should take no more than 4/4.5 hours. I found this both ambitious and suspicious. The Ugly Lone window guy was still here at 8pm in the dark that night completing install long after the rest of crew took back off. The interior silicone caulking is a shambles and was everywhere (see photos). When Dimitry showed up right on time the next day for full payment I invited him to have a look around at the work – he said ‘the windows look nice’. When questioned about the caulking job he said this was their best silicone guy and that's the best they can do based on his vast experience, and that the job was not rushed because of the late start. The cleanup was a shambles. And I got to spend the next two days out on a ladder detailing our brand new windows with Goof Off to remove the sticker decal residue, greasy hand prints, etc they either couldn’t be bothered with doing or missed in the dark. If I didn't have a very tall ladder (as I too work in trades), the ability to climb it, work at weird angles at heights and the time to clean them we would have been screwed as they were not returning to detail them. Astonishing. We gave the company numerous opportunities to return to clean up caulking, redo some work, refund some of the ticket price, etc and the solution we were given is they wanted to add some additional interior wood framing to cover/hide the work (think of a quarter round on a baseboard, only in your windows that’s not stained or made to match). We did not feel confident they could pull it off without more headaches and band aid fixes so we passed. Terrible experience at a $9000 price tag. Caveat emptor. Woke up. Furnace not working. Checked HomeStars. Took a shot and called Aire Max. He showed up (end up) same day. Had a look. Noticed furnace was two stage which means complicated ... and more expensive to fix. Didn't have the part on him he needed because furnace is unusual (two stage). Came back at time he said he would next morning. Put part on. Didn't work. Based on this learning, ran more diagnostics. Suspected it was motherboard malfunctioning from water damage (longer story). Had to go get that part and warned me in advance of cost and that it was non-refundable even if it didn't work. Came back next day time he said he would. Installed it. Furnace worked. Took back first part he bought so I didn't have to pay for it. Hard to tell if I was charged for each visit as invoice is all one lump sum ... but I don't think I was based on what he quoted me quickly on spot for motherboard. Max did his best to explain what he was doing at each stage and what problem was and how I could prevent in future. In short, I will more than likely call Aire Max to service my AC and furnace in future. Seems pretty honest.
