A skylight leak in our sunroom meant a new skylight and interior repairs. We expanded the project to include repainting our living room, entry hall, stairway and second floor landing. We obtained two estimates and chose Finer Edge although it was the higher estimate. We are very pleased to have made that choice. They were professional, courteous, punctual and completed the job on schedule. A month or more after completion, we noticed what we thought was a large drip. They returned to fix it, no questions asked. Overall, we are pleased with their work and would use Finer Edge again.

Thanks for your review Toby! Look forward to working with you again in the future

Bottom line: We're satisfied with the work done, and our walk and patio look better but the principals of Good Looking Homes are young and enthusiastic but have some rough edges. Here are some cautions: 1) They sell door to door and say that most of their customers didn't even know that the service they provide is available. Chris estimated our job at $750. When my reaction indicated that that was more than I was prepared to spend, the price dropped to $500 seconds later for the same work. I asked if our patio could be included and the price rose to $600 which I accepted, but the sales experience left me thinking that if I'd protested further, the price might have dropped again. There seemed to be no discipline in their pricing. 2) They had a four day window while we were away to do the job but it was only partly completed on schedule. 3) Our walk and patio consist of three surfaces: cement squares, slate, and brick. The power washing cleaned all three surfaces but seemed to leave some of the slate looser than it was. In spite of these comments, we are satisfied with the end result for the price paid but would suggest that prospective customers be clear at to price and timeframe. I also would suggest for slate walks that the power washing tool only be used to clear the cracks and not try to clean the slate surfaces.

Company Response

Dear Mr Condliffe, thank you very much for the review. I am deeply sorry that you were not completely satisfied with our company and salesman. In regards to pricing, our company has a standard cost per square foot for different job and material types. However, our salesmen do have some leeway in pricing jobs based on such factors as: size of the job, complexity, mix of patios/decks, materials needed and clients budgets. In regards to your job specifically, we reviewed it with both the sales and operations side. Then it was discussed in our daily sales meeting so that all of our sales staff was brought up to speed on pricing practices. Also, I am sorry that the job was not completed in the window of time that it should have been. As per your slate stones, we discussed the job and material with the work crew. We have cleaned slate and shale-stone on over 20 jobs this year and have great success the majority of the time. We have informed our sales staff to make clients more aware that the results of slate cleanings may vary. However, it appears we were not careful enough and I am sorry for any loosened stonework. I am glad that your enjoyed our service overall but we are concerned that other aspects of the experience were not up to standard. Your feedback and review is very helpful to as as we are a new and rapidly growing company. All of the the points you have made will be used to help our sales and work teams grow successfully. Again, thank your for the constructive review and your valuable time.
