The area behind our garage was about 20'x30' and covered with gravel. Green Circles Landscaping removed the gravel, put in a base of screenings and laid interlocking stones. They finished it off with the type of sand that prevents weeds from growing, and none have sprouted in the two summers since it was done. Drainage is good and there has been no heaving of sinking. Furnace inspection - Red Tagged
Our furnace was about 15 years old and hadn't been inspected or cleaned for a few years, so I called Service Experts. Jonathan arrived at the appointed time, and the first thing he did was to check the CO emissions at the exhaust. It was well above the maximum allowed, so he was obligated to red tag it. Instead of selling us a major ($1400?) repair job, he advised us that the manufacturer (Carrier) had issued an extended warranty on the condensing heat exchanger, provided a copy of the Bulletin, and checked our serial number to confirm our equipment was covered.
Mors was willing to come the same afternoon, but agreed to a later date. Arrived when agreed, and found the problem quickly (a disconnected and plugged drain tube). Simple repair. Now I know what to check if it happens again. It's been 4 days and no more puddles. Jim in Ajax (not Scarborough)
