Just like any project - you do your research and learn there are dozens of window installers and manufacturers. We had 4 quotes from the advertisers in the Mississauga News and big box stores. The quotes ranged from 8K to 11K. I dropped in one day at Trillium Windows as I work near them and see their plant full of employee cars. They do mostly commercial but residential as well. I provided Sam with the window measurements and he gave me a quote via email. It was well below the other quotes. I had Sam come out for a formal quote that was only 30 minutes compared to the 60 plus minutes from other quotes. Sam was very good and the whole quote process was more like a gentleman's agreement/discussion - not like what the other sales guys who told me 'what I wanted to hear' to close the deal. Installation by Jose was amazing. Canvas drop sheets laid down. Brick to Brick installation, no capping and new jams installed and casing. Warranty is not lifetime like other window companies - but will they be around in 25 years and if a seal fails - it will be within a few years. Deposit was 50% and install date a little long which us made us a little leery at first, but all worked out and windows are great ! We will definitely be ordering windows for the rest of the house in the spring.

This review is long over due. After getting 3 or 4 quotes for our project and not knowing which contractor to go with - either because of too high a price, unprofessional, or just not available. I ran into Dan in line at Home Depot. He had his 'Salerno Carpentry' T shirt on and I started asking him for a quote. When I got home, I could only find the 2 old reviews on HomeStars, and a few things on Houzz. His website is good and gave me a little more info. However, having had a few other quotes and speaking with other contractors - I knew Dan was the man. Dan came over for a quote and my wife agreed - his professionalism and character was very good. A few days later, Dan sent us a quote and detail of the plan, after a little discussion and changes we agreed to the project scope and cost. Work began about 6 weeks later. We took a 12 foot by 26 foot living room dining room and divided it into 2 rooms with 2 36 inch pocket doors with book shelves on one side and closed off an opening with another set of 8 foot doors on one side. We added in crown molding to finish things off. Dan cleaned up each day. He texted me if he was going to be late. No complaints for a project well done !

Simon and his crew know what they are doing. We had our outdated natural oak staircase sanded and stained. Treads and rails stained to match our dark hardwood floor. Risers, sides and spindles painted. We had a few low ball quotes and a lot of high quotes. SB Hardwood came in at a respectable and reasonable price. Their final product is fantastic - no complaints from start to finish.
