Daniel is hands down the worst contractor we've ever hired. He touts himself as a jack of all trades when he in fact he is master of none. He was 1 hour late for our first meeting because he was at a Bocce ball tournament! He only came after I sent him a reminder email. His Bocce ball obsession became a recurring theme with him having to leave early or not be available on weekends because of him going to play Bocce ball. I had called him to remove the crumbling cement and install polymer sand in the joints around my pool deck and backyard walkway. He said he can also refinish my deck and reseal my driveway and he's a pro at it. He's a good salesman so I also hired him for those jobs but I made it clear that my priorty was the stonework as I had a grass installation coming in 3 weeks. He said that was plenty of time for him to complete all of the work. However, there were delays due to weather and him coming late and leaving early. When I asked him if he could do the work over a weekend - because the weather was perfect then and he was way behind schedule, he flatly refused. Other failures on his part: He installed the wrong colour of polymer sand. He hired someone to do the parchment work and it fell apart 1 week later. He never compacted the sand as per good practice, and told me I was "undermining" him by even suggesting it. He blew a lot of sand into our pool although he promised to use boards to prevent this from happening. He left polymeric sand on our paving stones which are there now permanently. The sand he did apply was not done evenly with dips everywhere. I asked him why this happened. He said since I didn't have a hose attachment with a fine mist spray, he had to use his finger over the hose to improvise and that resulted in the dents in the sand. We had a final chat with us telling him we were not at all happy with his work. We told him to forget the deck and driveway, just fix the sand in the joints and seal it. Daniel promised to stay late that Thursday to do it and no sooner did I come back into the house, he took a call on his cell and then abruptly left! No explanation. He said he could come back on Saturday to finish the work as he was busy Friday. Well, Saturday came and we get a text from him saying, due to the weather (it was perfectly clear) and a prior family event, he wasn't coming! And further, he was abandoning the job because we were rude to him! He informed us he was keeping our 25% deposit as payment for the (subpar) work he had already done and for which we had to hire other contractors to fix. Never in 40 years of home ownership have we had an experience like this. Stick to playing Bocce ball Daniel because your contracting skills and integrity are nonexistent!

We would like to begin by thanking HomeStars for allowing homeowners a chance to state their displeasure or contentment regarding a project, however, in this case we feel that this review is vindictive and libelous.

From the outset of the project the homeowner was constantly demanding more for less, extremely rude and even went so far as to insult my stone mason colleague by calling him an "idiot, stupid, lazy and a moron". She refused to pay for his services and so we ended up covering that cost for her.

She left her dog's poop littered all over the property, and in some cases over an entire weekend. It was quite unsanitary to work around, especially through 32-degree weather.

We informed her that she was undermining our expertise as she demanded that we use a 'Gas Powered Tamper' over her stones in order to ensure proper settling of the polymeric sand. We respectfully informed her that that tamper cannot be used over natural stone as it will crack the stones, especially since they are sitting on a concrete bed.

We took accountability in not asking her first on which colour she preferred the polymeric sand to be. In almost all cases grey colour is used, and is the reason for our oversight. We apologized and offered to completely remove the grey polymeric sand and reinstall the beige at our cost.

She expected her loose stones to be reset by us, despite the fact that that was not part of the contract and not part of the sealing process.

When explaining that I could not work over the weekend due to a niece's birthday party celebration she responded with "Well, is it all day?"

Given all of the above we felt it was best to walk away from the project. The amount of work completed, far exceeded the 25% deposit we received.
- The entire Natural Stone Patio was pressure washed thoroughly and the mortar within the joints was completely removed. This alone is well worth over $900.
- The entire wooden deck was pressure washed and prepped for staining.
- etc...

I could go on with these sorts of examples but I would rather not as this experience was one of the worst I've ever endured.
Never have I come across such a negative person and would suggest to any contractor to not get involved with her.
I am truly sorry that our paths crossed and wish her the best.

If contractors were able to provide a rating on homeowners, I would give her a 0/10.

I regret that I had to write such a response and hope that anyone reading this can use their own judgement just based on the few examples I gave. I am more than happy to show the photos that we took in order to show our side of the story.

Sincerely,
Daniel

Julian and his team member did a fabulous job cleaning all the exterior windows of our home! The windows sparkle and they've stayed that way. They were fast, efficient and pleasant. I did call around to some of the other big window cleaning companies but in the end, I would rather support a small business guy who also donates a portion of his sales to a deaf charity. That's a win-win-win in my book! Try Julian and his crew - you'll be glad you did!

Kifle and Hyson are total pros! They came, they cleaned, they conquered! And on a holiday no less. They arrived on time and got to work for a solid 6 hours. They are a hard-working duo who made our home shine. I wish it always looked this good. Kifle quoted me a price for the job and stuck to it. I had asked him to do a little favour for me and he forgot - not a big deal. To my surprise, he called the next day and offered to come back to do it. Kifle is pure professionalism all the way and a really nice person to boot. My husband says we have to have Kifle and his team on standby for cleanings from now on! Hire him - he's the best!

Jesse and his partner came out to cut down a dead cedar and cherry blossom tree. They also trimmed a third tree. They were quick and efficient. They also cleaned up all the debris and took it with them. However, I'm giving them a 9/10 because after they left, I noticed other trees on our property that needed trimming. I wish they had pointed that out to me since they're the experts. Now it will have to wait until next spring. But I won't hesitate to hire them again and nor should you!

When I called Mohammad to clean our carpets, I clearly told him we had a brownout issue the last time our carpets were cleaned. It was nothing the previous company did wrong but rather a problem with our carpet fibers/underpad. Well, when Mohammad cleaned our carpets, he ended up with the same brownout issue on our stairs. He did come back to try to fix it, but constantly blamed the brownout problem on the previous company, which I found annoying. He should have altered his cleaning method given that I had warned him about the brownout issue. In the end, Mohammad had to return 3 times to resolve the brownout. But the reason I won't ever hire him again or recommend him to anyone is his dishonesty. He tried to sell me a used Dyson vacuum. I tried it, liked it and said I would buy it but asked him for the attachments. He took the vacuum and said he would return it when he found the attachments. He promised not to sell the vacuum to anyone else in the meantime. A week later, when I asked him if he had found the attachments, he said no. I said I would buy the vacuum anyway. Then, he says it's no longer available and he has moved to Windsor! If he changed his mind about selling the vacuum or, more likely, got a better price for it, have the decency to tell me the truth. From the recent reviews on here, he's still operating his business in Toronto so he must still be here. Don't trust this guy!

Dear(customer's name),
Thank you for your feedback. We are happy that we were able to help resolve the issue of the brownout in your carpet.
It was a tough stain for sure but our commitment to quality and doing our job right made this possible.

Also Vacuum was sold without the attachment, you said the vacuum was not worth buying without the attachment , that's the reason we sold it.
We would really like to sold to our customer as we use it for 10 time and selling 600+tax vacuum for 275

Also we have one location open in Windsor too you can check online ( we don't need to lie about it )

We are glade that Mohamad was able to resolve the issue. Always trying to improve the quality of service and your experience with our company.

We appreciate your business

Thank you.

This review is long overdue. Serg and his father were the third of three estimates we got for the roof on our north Toronto detached home. We picked them because their price was competitive, they seemed honest and they could do the job right away. We couldn't have been more pleased with the new roof they put on our house. Fast forward to now, two years later, we need to replace the flat roof on our rental property. Of course, we called Serge and his dad. They showed up a day later to give us a fair estimate and also tips on positioning our downspouts to avoid water leaking onto the deck. These guys are the real deal - honest, polite, efficient and the only ones we will use for any roofing jobs going forward. Highly recommended!

Mine was a small job - I had a crack in my front door window insert. Apparently it was too small a job for a couple of other companies I called to come out and fix it. They didn't bother returning my calls. Barry came out and replaced the glass as well as the frame in under an hour. It looks better than new. Thanks. The company is highly recommended!

I tried another company first and they never returned my call. Vitaly answered my call, quickly scoped out the work and provided me with an estimate. He sent Walter within two days (at my convenience) to do the install. He and Walter were a pleasure to deal with and are highly recommended!

Mors is a true professional. He showed up on time (on a Sunday). He got to work right away and within an hour had our old dishwasher disconnected and our new one installed. This required him to drill holes in our cabinet as well. He is meticulous in his work too - ensuring the door lined up properly and was levelled. He left the area spotless. On the way out, he helped me with another minor issue gratis. Will definitely use his services again in future and highly recommend!

Rod takes pride in his work and the end result shows that. I hired him to retile two bathrooms in my townhouse downtown. Due to his craftsmanship, they went from dull and outdated to modern and elegant! Rod provided good advice in terms of tile selection and options. He completed the work for a reasonable cost and on time as promised. And he did it all with a smile on his face. He was pleasant to deal with from beginning to finish. The only minor thing I can fault him for is being tardy with paperwork - estimate and invoice. Other than that, he is a gem and my go-to guy for tiling from now on! Thanks Rod!
