I hired Toronto Breeze based on a telephone solicitation. They claimed I was a previous customer. I may have been, but I don't think so. Anyway, they did show up at the appointed hour, but their technique included blowing compressed air into the vents and ducts, with the result that a lot of dust got blown into the air. The vacuum they hooked up the furnace no doubt removed some dust, but after they were finished the air in my house was heavily laden with dust and there was lots of dust remaining in the ductwork. They also missed some ducts. I pointed this out to the technicians, but they didn't clean the untouched vents and they claimed that the dust and debris remaining in the ducts couldn't be removed with their system. They also neglected to plug several holes they had cut in the ducting. They were in attendance for about 25 minutes, and I am wholly unsatisfied with their work. I refused to pay them and I would never recommend anybody engage this lot. Also, Toronto Breeze operates under several different names. And . . . for what it's worth, this company has had to pay a $40,000 fine for CRTC violations involving telemarketing violations. Be very careful of this outfit.

I hired Wood's Roofing to shingle my house, which was being re-constructed. Not long after they finished, two leaks developed, one of which is ruining the ceiling in the kitchen. The owner/operator - Brian - is difficult to reach; he makes promises to come tend to the problem; then doesn't show up. He claims that his work is "fully guaranteed", but this is clearly not true. I will now have to engage another contractor, then take Wood's Roofing to court to recover costs.
