Excellent plaster ceiling repair
The quality of the plaster ceiling fix was great. This was done a couple years ago, and the recreation of the ceiling pattern they did was pretty seamless. The only thing I was not 100% happy with was the appointment rescheduling. I still remember I took the day off to stay home for the fix but they didn’t show up that morning and I had to call to learn they had rescheduled for another day. And on the rescheduled day they arrived later than scheduled. That was the only wrinkle and perhaps something more to do with the project management rather than the actual ceiling repair.
Instead of rummaging different places for free boxes - (& ending up with various sized, bad quality boxes) I found it easiest to order a moving kit package online from mymovingboxes.ca The shipping was free, I ordered on a Sunday and it came on Monday evening! The moving kit comes with everything you need, bubble wrap, packing paper, tape, sets of boxes and even tips on packing. So much easier than driving/borrowing someone's car and loading and unloading. I ordered a 1 bedroom apt package with additional boxes, in hindsight should have ordered the 2 bedroom package because we had a 1 bedroom + den. I recommend ordering more than you think you need!
We moved from a 1 bedroom + den condo to a semi-detached house in downtown Toronto. It was our first time hiring a moving company. We decided to go with Firemen Movers because of the reviews online and the fact that some of the proceeds go to Sick Kids. They were prompt with their email replies and the questions I had. The 3 movers came on time, very professional and courteous. They were very efficient with their time - those boxes moved so quickly but safely! They informed us when something broke - a couple of our cheap Ikea photo frames - which we knew would happen if even one of our friends moved them. Other than that, everything was protected very well and they were very good with all our stuff. The wardrobe boxes they provided were so useful! They came to the new house in record time even after having a short lunch break. They were very patient and moved a few furniture items around after we changed our minds about where to place them. They complimented us on our organizational skills, we had labeled every box with which room to go into and the items inside. I think this helped the move go quickly as well. When we paid the final bill, for a millisecond, we thought it was a bit outside our budget - it was more than the estimate - but considering I was 7 months pregnant, it was the best decision we made! It was the most smooth moving day ever and we've moved many times before with friends and family. I barely lifted a finger - besides pointing to where boxes should go. 100% recommend them to anyone!
