Called two companies and Moes answered the phone versus just emailing back and forth. So already we are doing good. I hired them to redo the drain plumbing for a double sink after a small leak was found, clear out a potential clog by snaking the drain and to make me a new clean-out access. Overall everything looks good, nothing is leaking and drains are running smoothly. These guys are honest and punctual. We discussed the job requirements that I needed and they also provided some recommendations, some of which I accepted and others which I did not (for now) however that did not change anything about the job and how they handled the work. Very respectful individuals. The communication system they have via text message when they're en route is also nice in keeping their customer updated.

After vetting through five or six other concrete companies, Lucid Concrete Services was hired for my project. Caleb, the owner, was not the lowest cost but he was not the highest cost either. His estimate was extremely reasonable in comparison to some of the other massively inflated estimates ($20+ sqft) from the other companies I contacted. The job was a concrete patio extension, approximately 430 sqft with a brushed finish. The sod that was on location was previously removed so the project started at the forms/gravel stage and no other real ground/dirt prep was needed. Caleb completed the job in three days and the outcome looks excellent. Caleb finished everything very nicely, smoothed out any rough spots and kept the job site extremely clean. From the first day I called Caleb to the last day of the project, he was prompt and kept me up to date. He is extremely respectful and takes the time to finish everything nicely. He was never in a rush; he cares about projects as if they were his own. I wish more tradespeople were like this and I speak from experience as I deal with 10-15 tradespeople a year on various projects across multiple properties! There is zero doubt that I will be hiring Caleb again for my next concrete project. If you need concrete work, call Lucid Concrete Services. You won’t regret it.

I found Chris Ready on HomeStars after a long-time electrician I worked with recently retired from the business. The majority of my renovation was complete however the electrical finishing (breakers, switches, receptacles, etc) was not yet done due to the aforementioned retirement. This left me in a bit of a snag. After calling Chris, we scheduled a time and Chris came by to see the project scope. Chris was super prompt and very friendly. He reviewed the project, discussed the tasks, we agreed to a payment rate and off we go! About six hours later, Chris completed the work perfectly and enabled me to finish the next stage of my renovation. I had already purchased most of the materials a few months ago however Chris made some recommendations and whatever material I didn’t have, he brought. Overall, everything looks sharp and is working as expected. Chris is very easy to speak with and is the sole operator of the business; this is super important to me as I want to deal directly with the owner-operator. Chris will answer questions clearly, outlines tasks and costs, and is very punctual. Safe to say, I found my new go-to electrician for future projects. Thanks again Chris!

I have a 30 year old home that needed a fresh look and new windows. After getting estimates from a handful of companies, it came down to one other and Siding Vancouver. While Siding Vancouver was a higher cost estimate than the other company, it was how Siding Vancouver is set up (not using outside contractors, family owned) that I preferred. Plus in the end, Stefan (estimator) matched the competitor estimate so it was a no-brainer to go with Siding Vancouver. From start to finish, Siding Vancouver was professional and efficient. They use a great internal system that tracks change orders and provides daily updates on progress. This was a great tool to have access to, especially if you are away from the job site for periods of time; you can check-in and see what’s going on! In addition, Martin (my main contact) occasionally checked-in to provide progress updates and offer suggestions on specific project areas. The project was a total exterior siding replacement, all new windows with trim and one new exterior door. Along the way there were a handful of changes/updates that were requested by me and sometimes recommended by Martin and the crew. While the changes added to the project cost, they were handled professionally and in a timely manner and overall enhanced the look of the project. One of their guys, Russ, is a master builder. Every suggestion for change/improvement he made, I accepted. Very honest and skilled individual. Russ is a key asset to these projects! One aspect I really enjoyed about Siding Vancouver is that they had a crew working every day. Sometimes it was two people and sometimes 10 people, but progress was always happening. We even had two days of just absolute crazy brutal rain and the guys were there. In the end, the project was finished in about three weeks. Another aspect I really liked was working with a designer they have that digitally creates your project. I sent in photos of the project and during a one-hour phone call using an online tool, I was taken through a full design consultation. During this consult, the type of siding was chosen, colors decided, and overall design aesthetic. This was a really neat process and it gave me an exact picture of what the project outcome would be. A third aspect I liked was the overall quality of workmanship and material. Everything is done to code and in some cases exceeding. They take the time to do the little things; caulking little corners and edges, painting/filling nail heads, using trim reveal to create depth, using cuts that avoid seams/lines in the siding for specific runs/lengths, and keeping the overall design symmetrically balanced. Some of their suggestions were so positive and thoughtfully considered (from a design standpoint) that I cannot imagine the completed project without them. Everything is just chiseled and polished; very challenging to find even the most minor of deficiencies. If you are in need of any large or small projects, give these guys a call. You’ll get a detailed estimate and project scope that will enable you to make the right decision for your needs. I can say that Siding Vancouver is not the lowest cost option but they are definitely the highest quality option; it’s clear they care about their work and your project. The phrase “you get what you pay for” comes to mind. Overall I am very happy with my decision in going with Siding Vancouver and extremely satisfied with the final project outcome. Absolutely top-notch! A++

I have an old deck (about 150 sq ft) that needed a fresh look. Sukh and his team were super prompt the whole way through; from quoting to install. The team removed the old vinyl, leveled off the deck where needed, sealed everything tightly, installed the flashing and ran the vinyl material up the wall about double what is required for code. Very thorough work. I had looked at three other quotes prior to All Seasons Waterproofing and all were a fair bit more expensive. Some used duradeck and some didn’t. What I really like about All Seasons Waterproofing is that they manufacture their own material. This gives the consumer a quality and cost-effective product that has first-party warranty and support. In addition, their material was about 5mm thicker than the Duradeck offerings. I did my research and for the Vancouver area, this is the company to choose for your vinyl decking projects. My new deck feels good to walk on and looks very sharp! ***Add-on*** After having the vinyl installed, All Seasons was also hired to do the deck railing. As with the vinyl, everything was fairly prompt however it did take time to get the aluminum, which is expected. During a follow-up meeting after the original estimate, Sukh outlined all of the specifics and expectations. A team arrived on a Saturday and within an hour, everything was aligned, symmetrically installed, and touched up. Small details like top caps on the gate posts is what I really like about these guys. Very sharp looking. For reference the railing is 1.5” picket in black with 2” posts, one gate and breadloaf style top rail.

Before choosing Centra, I searched out quotes from five other window installation companies. They all have basically the same product and service but three things stood out for me with Centra. First, they do not remove the existing frame (for replacement windows) when installing new vinyl windows. I find a lot of value in this installation method despite they are the only company that does it this way. It's less costly, you don't cut into structure and there are less problems in the end. The second aspect that stood out for me was the number of chambers inside the window that Centra had when compared to other companies (almost 2.5x more). Lastly, the Centra windows are made by Centra and installed by Centra. Almost every other company I sourced either had their windows made across or outside of Canada and the installer was a third party who is hired by the window company. This last point is particularly important. Despite the "lifetime" warranty claims of these other companies, I know that if there was problem, it would be almost impossible to get support. Who do you go to for support? The third-party installer or the window company? Going to either will send you to the other party. Nightmare. So, Centra it was. Truth be told, even after choosing Centra, I was not completely confident of my decision until the install team arrived and I began to see the quality of workmanship. Wow. From the beginning, the install team of three (Alan, Brenden, Shayne) were extremely professional and maintained a shockingly clean work area. As the customer, I was walked through the process, given free reign to ask questions throughout the day and was given a full walk-through at the end. The two things I really appreciated during the install were the attention to detail and the level of cleanliness. An example for the small details is how they properly caulked all of the outside and inside areas where any modifications were needed to install the windows properly. To this day I see homes without caulking on the window weather stripping so it was a pleasant surprise to find that these guys watched for the small details. As for cleanliness, every time a task was done they cleaned. The window sills were cleaned after the job and any saw dust left outside was also cleaned. In addition, the team swept the entire upstairs floor (even where they didn't walk!) and completely swept clean the driveway (again, even where they didn't work). This company clearly cares about its product and especially their service. I am super impressed with Centra and the install team. After witnessing the final result, my next two jobs (coming before 2016!) will go to Centra.
